the supplemental reports we should've gotten
Chapter Text
SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT 15: 01/02/24
I received an anonymous tip today regarding the whereabouts of Memphis Raynes. The informant said they saw a body floating down the Midlands Marina that matched the profile of Memphis Raynes that they saw on the news. I immediately called Agent Burke and we met up at the beach of Midlands Marina. After combing through the beach, I eventually spotted a body floating on the shoreline. I was very sure the body belonged to Memphis Raynes but I called the Midlands Coroner’s Office to take a look at it.
SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT 16: 01/03/24
The preliminary results of the autopsy were delivered to my office today. The body was confirmed to be Memphis Raynes. Due to the long time the body had spent in the marina, the medical examiner was only able to narrow the cause of death to two possibilities; asphyxiation and/or loss of blood due to a large laceration on Raynes’ throat.
SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT 17: 01/11/24
The official autopsy report of Memphis Raynes was finalized, the cause of death was determined to be asphyxiation, and the medical examiner found that the laceration on Raynes’ neck was inflicted postmortem. The coroner’s office finds the death suspicious and I can’t help but agree.
SUPPLEMENTAL REPORT 18: 01/12/24
The SIPD has officially declared Memphis Raynes’ death a suicide. A decision made by the higher ups after no investigation. I don’t believe Raynes killed herself, not after this long of evading the police but the Chief Commissioner was adamant about closing the case. I guess we’ll never know who killed Memphis… at least not officially.

Chapter Text
November 24th, 2022
It had been three days since the police interrogation, and Poe was still frightened, every noise and every bump she heard sent her jolting to awareness. It was terrifying to know that every move she made was now under scrutiny. Poe pondered this as she assessed her outfit for Thanksgiving at her parents’. She loves her parents but the last thing she wants is for them to be involved in this, Poe hadn’t even told them she was interviewed by the police yet. “Smile or go to jail,” she says to her reflection, forcing an angelic smile onto her face. After what happened this Halloween, Poe’s own smile looked strange to her but she continued. You never know who’s watching so might as well put on an act.
When she walked into her parents’ house, Poe was immediately hugged by her mother. The atmosphere was as warm as it always is, the only thing that had changed was Poe. The food was delicious but weighed down by the melancholy in her heart. All she could see in her mind was that security guard, a bloody mess on the floor. Surely, he had a family he should’ve been having Thanksgiving dinner with but Poe didn’t even know if he survived. The thought made her nauseous, it was the only time her mask faltered. She excused herself briefly to the bathroom, fighting to keep the contents of her stomach down. Poe insisted to her mother she was fine but she had insisted Poe go lie down in her room.
She laid down on her side and wondered where it all went wrong. It wasn’t supposed to be like this, they were supposed to steal the artifacts, bring them to the Boss Lady and live comfortably for the rest of their lives. No one was supposed to get hurt. She felt her consciousness drifting when a tapping noise brought her back to alertness. Poe quickly shot up in bed and looked around for the source of the noise, turning to the window. It was… Memphis? She was tapping on the window insistently, Poe hesitantly opened the window and watched as Memphis crawled in.
“What are you doing here?” Poe demanded while Memphis made herself comfortable on Poe’s bed. Her voice was low to avoid her mother hearing but it was filled with venom. “You’ve been ignoring me for almost a month now…” she whispers angrily.
“I know you’re not stupid so stop acting like it,” Memphis responds icily. “Texting you or calling you on our real phones would spell trouble.” she explained, “Speaking of, I come bearing gifts… Well, gift, singular.” At this, Memphis reached into her handbag and pulled out two items.
“Burner phones?” Poe questioned, beginning to see where Memphis was going with this.
“Yep. One for you and one for me,” she said with a fierce glint in her eyes. “I’m going to fix everything.”
