Experimenting

Summary:

Clothes, tears and Paulo’s tail intertwines with Daisy’s and gets swallowed, twice.

Notes:

Just a little bit off fluff after that previous fic. Next one may delve more into what diverged the story into this AU, whenever that happens.

Work Text:

It was never a good sign when Daisy was grumpy, Paulo had learned. It often meant she could get quite snappy, even a little cruel if pushed far enough.
That was what Paulo was dealing with today, a grumpy, slightly pissed Daisy.

Laying on her bed, he watched as she paced about the room, he long, fluffy tail dragging behind her, all ruffled and ragged looking. Strewn across the floor were a variety of clothes, some were short skirts and others long sleeved sweaters. All of which were hastily tried on and just as quickly thrown off.
Paulo watched as Daisy went and picked a new pair of clothes from the bed, putting them on. The clothes were a long pair of pants, riding up to just below her waist line, the other was a long sleeved, cotton sweater cut off just below the shoulders, leaving that area bare.

In Paulo’s opinion that was Daisy’s best look yet. Both in trying to achieve the desired look and still being Daisy.
Daisy, on the other hand, didn’t see it as such. Taking a look into the mirror, she only scowled. Beginning to take off the shirt, Paulo got up, reaching his hand out to stop her.

Stopping her mud pull, he latched an arm around her Easter and pulled her into a hug, tails intertwining (or more accurately Paulo’s being buried).

“Paulooo.” Daisy said, grumpily.

“What? Can’t I hug my favourite gal in the whole world?” He teasingly said back.

“Mmph that’s not the only reason.” She said, sliding the shirt back down. “You like this look, don’t you.”

“Can’t say I don’t. I mean it’s totally you and what your going for.” He says back, nuzzling from behind.

Daisy look the side grumpily, but with a slight blush to her face. “Well I don’t, I still look ugly.”

Paulo looked at her, smirking. “Babe we’ve been through this. You’re not ugly, not in the slightest, other people just have there noses up their asses if they think your not.”

“Ya but…” She began to say, before being cut off by Paulo…

“But nothing. Listen if you keep worrying about your appearance for others we’re going to be here all day.”

Daisy groaned. She looked back to herself in the mirror. Her mind in a calmer state than before could see that it wasn’t a horrible look, but she couldn’t shake off that ever present fact, she never like her looks.
Both stood there for a second more, until Daisy unhooking herself from Paulo’s hug and walked towards the bed. Flopping down with a big sigh.
Paulo himself turned and walk towards the bed himself. Sitting down, he smiled, placing a hand on her head and began scrunching curly hair. He always like her curly hair. Sure he went after girls, even some boys with the more stereotypical “pretty” or “hot” hairs or bodies. Yet Daisy always look more beautiful to him. On her best days, when her looks mattered less to her than something like today, her beauty shined from the outside in.

Daisy turned her head to look at him, slightly annoyed with him playing his hair.
“Would you stop that please.” She said bluntly.

“Hehe, now why would I want to do that? Someone not liking their fabulous hair being messed with?” He said teasingly back.

“No, it’s just annoying, and my hair isn’t fabulous.”

“We’ll I beg to differ.”

Silence followed. Daisy looked longingly towards the window, sadness and anger clouding her mind again.
“What’s wrong with me Paulo… I tire myself with trying to be pretty when you already think I am, and then I get frustrated when I don’t see it myself I… I..” she trailed off, tears threatening to leak.

Paulo look down in sympathy. Leaning down, he kissed her softly on the head.
“It’s ok, it’s ok. You know, I don’t see myself as pretty very much either.”

She looked up at him, scowling a tiny bit and lightly bapping him on the arm.
“Not funny.” She said.

“Ow. Paulo fanned hurt. I wasn’t lying. I don’t really see myself as pretty or handsome. Honestly sure many would but, over time I’ve always felt, somewhat disgusted by who I was and how I looked. Not to much different from you really.”
Paulo said, looking off to the wall.

Daisy propped her head up to look at him, confused.
“But why? Why would you hate yourself? She asked.

“Well, it’s like you said. I tried to make people see me differently and It just… never really worked.” Paulo said, putting on a small, sadder smile.

Daisy pushed herself up and crawled up his back, hugging him from behind. Tears slowly fell onto his back and shoulder.
“So we’re both ugly then?”

“Maybe, maybe not. We can barley see ourselves than anything more than our worst “ Paulo said, tail intertwining Daisy’s again.

Both sat there a while, basking in their solace ass the day went by. Eventually, Daisy moved and just sat next to him and look to the wall. The silence was loud and yet so peaceful.
Paulo’s thoughts rolled throw his mind, he, never really said that to anyone, not even himself, and yet with Daisy if felt right, like both of them could understand the fronts and faces they put to the public.
He looked to himself, then too Daisy, and a small part of him envied her. He didn’t understand why, but maybe that was why he found her pretty, cause she was he envied, in looks, personality and so much she never saw in herself.
That made a thought spring to his mind, a question, well two more accurately.

“Hey Daisy?”

“Yes?”

“Have you ever… envied me?”

“Hehe. All the time. I mean your so soft and handsome and… and…” She looked to him. “Really, really kind.” She smiled.

Paulo’ laughed at that. A smile pieced his lips.
“And one more question. Can we shop for some more, female clothes, maybe more my.. size? He blushed at that last bit, turning his head away in embarrassment.
Daisy smiled, reached up a hand and gently turned his head to face her.

“Don’t worry. I think we can.” She leaned up and kissed him. A smile crossed Paulo’s lips as he kissed her back. Tails intertwined as they both hugged each other.
