This was the absolute last time Draco would allow Harry to talk him into doing dangerous nonsense. After the war, Harry’s Gryffindorish drive to dive headfirst into threatening situations somehow now included dragging Draco along??? And they were all ridiculously muggle, so Draco assumed they were safer that way, given that adding magic to something already dangerous could be disastrous.
Draco was mostly on board with the rollercoasters. They were fast and reminded him of flying, but they had that nice safety harness so you wouldn’t fall, unlike a broom. He was even kind of okay with cliff diving. Draco was an excellent swimmer, and was happy to show off his physique whenever his husband desired to see it.
He was less cool with running with the bulls, because what the hell??? Who voluntarily put themselves among stampeding cattle and called it a good time? Draco’s seen Lion King . He vetoed this option. Harry countered with bungee jumping, and Draco hesitated to tell him no twice in a row, though he was tempted. At least he’d have another safety harness? And so, he did it. And while it’s not how he’d volunteer to spend his days, there was something to be said for facing the danger and surviving.
Which is how Harry managed to convince Draco to try sky diving, which he said was like bungee jumping, but without the harness. And from higher up. And Draco still has no idea why he said yes. He thinks sex may have been involved.
The instructor was talking through some safety measures, but Draco couldn’t even concentrate. His head was full of all the ways this could go wrong and he was silently cursing his husband for the umpteenth time for making him believe this could ever be even a little fun.
“You ready?” the instructor shouted.
Draco was in the midst of shaking his head No when the instructor walked them to the open doorway.
“Okay, good!” the instructor continued. “We’ll jump on three.”
Draco heard Harry shouting encouragement at him from behind, waiting his turn to jump next.
“One,” the instructor began, “Two…!”
And then the world dropped out from beneath Draco’s feet.
Damn you, Harry.
