I Just Sighed

Summary:

Bruce would like to have one normal child. Please.

Notes:

Can you guess who’s child each of them are?

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Dick Grayson

Chapter Text

Bruce, when he had first taken in Dick, had seen nothing wrong. He assumed that it was simply that he was a cute, innocent child that people would obey him when he spoke. After all, Bruce often found himself doing the same.

Dick could ask for ice cream before dinner and both Bruce and Alfred would concede, although Alfred had more hesitation than Bruce. There was simply something in his voice that made everyone fall to their knees.

And yes, he was an adorable child, one you could never say no to. But when it kept happening, even as Dick got older and eventually graduated from being Robin, thats when it got suspicious.

He examined Dick’s DNA, searching for the meta gene. He never found it. There were some anomalies within the blood, but nothing to indicate that this should be happening. Bruce never told him, figuring it wouldn’t matter either way, as it seemed to be something that would happen at random. Perhaps, Dick really was just an adorable child that could make people do whatever he wished.

Bruce hid the information behind many layers of encryption, and left it alone.

Chapter 2: Jason Todd

Notes:

Jason might be a bit tricky at the end, but I wrote him so that after the ressurection he gets blessed by both Hecate and Nemesis as Nemesis deals in vengeance and there were literal prophesies about Jason in the All Caste sooo…

Magic

But im still not telling you who his parent is okay its too easy to figure out for him.

Also Talia definitely told him he was a demigod and definitely trained him in that stuff.

Chapter Text

Bruce didn’t touch Dick’s files again, until Jason showed up. Jason couldn’t force people to do things with his words, nor was he a particularly adorable child, that brand was simply for Grayson. Yet, other odd things happened around him.

He couldn’t swim, and yet when one of the rogues pushed the child into the sea he didn’t drown. Bruce had been prepared to bury his Robin after 15 minutes of searching to no avail. He had shed his first tear as Jason climbed up the side of the harbour. Bruce had latched onto him as the child spluttered and gasped for air. “Are you okay?” He had screamed and Jason had nodded. Jason had held his breath all that time, before the water itself pushed him to the surface.

His punches and kicks held more power when it was raining, or he was wet. A horse bowed to him, and he could speak fish. Bruce remembered an occasion where Jason was stabbed, but it was healed when he fell into a water puddle.

Bruce had gone on another hunt through Jason’s DNA, looking for meta genes or some indication of perhaps being an Atlantean. Nothing, just like Dick’s. He found these same anomalies that he found in Dick’s blood and locked it away.

But then Jason died. Jason died in the middle of a desert, in a warehouse. He was surrounded by heat and flames and Bruce didn’t want to admit to anyone that he had tossed water on the dead boy, trying desperately to bring him back. All those close calls just for it to end like that.

Jason came back, because of course he would. He was different, the same oddities plaguing him and even more on their way. Jason sparked a flame in his hand, he controlled the sea in a fight against a meta with fire powers, he brought vengeance upon people who deserved it and was high on luck. Bruce looked the other way.

Whatever Talia and the Pit did to Jason wasn’t his business, no matter how much he wanted to figure it out.

Chapter 3: Tim Drake

Notes:

Tim might be difficult to figure out? Idk. Its kinda obvious.

Chapter Text

Tim Drake was smart, he had to be to figure out the identity of batman, Nightwing, and Robin at age 9. Either that or it was a horrible secret. He didn’t have powers like the other two before him, but he was crazy smart. Thats what led Bruce to look at his DNA.

Bruce would like to not have to do that with every kid he took under his wing.

He had the same sparkles and golden stars as the other two. So he waited for Tim to display some kind of powers like the others, some sign that he was something other. Nothing. The only indication was his brains, of that he was most proficient.

He was smarter than anyone three times his age and Bruce was proud but also he was worried for Tim.  Being that smart, having that part of the universe stored in his blood, was dangerous.

Bruce took his research and planted it away under that Encryption. He had no doubt that Tim had broken in and looked at all of it before but at least it would be safe from others. And if Tim knew what was up, he never said anything.
