Bitttersweet Playlist

Work Text:

I don’t know if anyone will read my ramblings about the songs I listened to while writing the Bittersweet series, but I felt like writing about it.

Here is the Link to the Youtube Playlist GO Fanfiction

Loreley is the song I listened to most often while writing “Lessons of Pain”

I like the changes between the quiet, but sinister passages and the screams/growls. Yes, the line “Scream for me” made it directly into the story.

Voodoo doll is another song I listened to while writing “Lessons of Pain”. The video is not for the faint at heart, but the text actually is defiant, saying you can’t break me no matter how hard you try.

“For they know not what they do” - maybe it’s because of the Biblical topics of Coming of Age, but this song was what I listened to while writing the torture chapter in Coming of Age. Dramatic and sinister sound, which was very inspiring.

“Heartbeat of the Devil” - this beautiful sad song was my soundtrack when writing the Chapter “Forged in Pain”, describing Crowley’s trauma.

here a little quote for you
“Deep eyes, dark diamonds
A desperate silent cry
What could I do to make you free me?
Teach me to satisfy your desires
Born in flames
Fighting fire with fire
Come here and feel my heart
The hearbeat of the Devil
Forged in pain
Drawing nigher and nigher
Come here and feel my heart
The heartbeat of the Devil
The heartbeat of the Devil”

Afterlife - is a song where a fallen angels tells the protagonist there is no love in the afterlife. It was what I was listening to while describing Muriel and Eric spending a night talking about Heaven and Hell.

“The most radical thing to do” is actually a cover from the Ark, and it has strong Crowley vibes. Aziraphale would even believe it to be Bebop.

“I could punch your face
When you say i'm good
I could dress in lace and paint my face
And go out on a cruise
In the neighbourhood
Become a prostitute
Or become a priest
I could fuck anyone
Every girl, every boy
At least one in every town
That's to say the least
- Wouldn't that be radical?
- Wouldn't that be radical?
(But)
The most radical thing to do
Is to love someone who loves you
Even when the world is seemingly
Telling you not to
I dont know what's wrong or right
But i know what's worth a fight
The most radical thing is to do what
Your heart tells you to
'Cause i do assure
You that i do adore you”

Raining Stars is a song about the apocalypse. (And the video looks like two GO angels secretly watching a tape of a demonic band ;-))
Both sound and text inspired the chapter apocalypse now

I had to find you
Slow motion horror was everywhere
Your safety was my only care
And then I catch you
As all the terrified people run
Two silhouettes become one

The sky the deepest red
The sun the bleakest black
We hold each other and hail
The final act

An old man grabbed me
Clad in a velveteen cloak
And hood
Screaming fear and weeping blood
Well, let them panic
We're hypnotised from above
No time
No time for fear, just for love

The sky the deepest red
The sun the bleakest black
All words are worthless now
There's no way back

Relax and enjoy the show

Now welcome dear apocalypse
We dance in raining stars
We turn this nightmare into bliss
(Woah...)
Snowing fire and raining stars
(Woah...)
Snowing fire and raining stars

On the horizon
Blue silver thunderbolts
Stole our breath
The warm embrace of facing death
This sweet defiance
Your eyes ignite in the fumes
Just like
Diamonds in the blood moon

The sky the deepest red
The sun the bleakest black
Each second ours to share
So make them last

Now welcome dear apocalypse
We dance in raining stars
We turn this nightmare into bliss
(Woah...)
Snowing fire and raining stars
(Woah...)
Snowing fire and raining stars

My Constellation is a beautiful love song that makes me think of Aziraphale and Crowley.

I hold you close to my heart
You're my revelation
You're my revelation
And my cross
I'll always follow your stars
You're my constellation
You're my constellation
When I'm lost

There's even a sad little song about Hastur and Ligur on the playlist
Death is just a kiss away

Excerpt from the lyrics

If the longing for someone is measured
By the waves I am drowning tonight
Expect waves when you're crossing that river
Await red to become anthracite

Oh well, love is here and so is hate
But mainly death is what dictates
Love is endless, immortal they say
So might be truth
Fair enough but be that as it may
Death is just a kiss away

Seeds we sow
But don't know what we grow
Make or mar
Sear flowers on our field of blood
Hope we seed
We water and we wait in need
With Heaven's call
Unavoidably buying the fall
