Chapter Text
The cold air surrounding Spark made them fluff up their fur. Taking a deep breath, cold, stale air filled their lungs. Leaping down from the rock they were resting on, they landed on a platform below and huffed as the trotted forward. Spark didn't know where they were going, only that they needed to warm up.
Spark ventured out into the Play Care's main grounds.
The fire pendant dangling from their neck gently swayed and tapped against their fur as they trot through the vacant hallways of the Playhouse.
Empty as usual. Spark huffed. Was she hopping there would be someone to have a quick chat with? No. That never happened.
Spark scanned across the clearing. Trashed from The Hour Of Joy. Or that's what DogDay called it.
("What's that?" Sparky asked as she landed on DogDay's legs, shaking herself from attempting to climb his back.
"The Hour of Joy?" The tall, canine figure questioned, glancing at the large, purple feline fast asleep with a purple moon pup laying at his belly.
Sparky nodded enthusiastically. "It sounds so fun! 'The Hour of Joy,' An hour of fun!"
The canine took an anxious breath. "How about this. When you get older, Catnap and I will tell you and Dawn about it if you still want to know. How does that sound?"
Sparky felt her eyes get heavy with sleep, nodding gently as they closed. "Sounds so fun," she whispered as she fell asleep.)
Oh, how wrong she was. The Hour of Joy was senseless murder. Never mattered who was killed; only that they were dead. Fortunately for them, they weren't alive at the time. Spark did feel bad for her parents though. CatNap and DogDay seemed haunted by the memories.
BANG.
Spark snapped her head towards the noise. Thier pupils dilated.
Darting behind some rubbish hiding her cream-colored fur as best she could as they watch for the source of the noise to emerge.
A gentle grape scent filled the area.
Spark perked up, letting out a soft mrip! Instantly recognizing the scent as a purple canine with moon-like markings steps out from a small fake bush, shaking a piece of metal from their ear.
Before Spark can hop out of her hiding to say Hi to the purple canine, a short growl comes across the clearing as shadowy figure leaps out onto the purple canine. The purple critter lets out a yell of panic, slamming to the floor.
Spark leapt forward without thinking. Slamming her own body into the creature. Digging her claws into their face dragging her claws down. Shoving the creature backwards as it screeched in pain. Snaping it sharp jaws at Sparks side, only snagging some of her fur as she twisted away from its grasp. Hissing loudly.
"𐋅𐌄 𐌋𐌄𐌕𐌔 𐌵𐌔 𐌅𐌄𐌄𐌃! 𐌋𐌄𐌕 𐌵𐌔 𐌅𐌄𐌄𐌃!" The creature screeched before fleeing, leaving a path of blood behind it.
Spark flicked her tail. Confused and unnerved. Flicking blood off their hand as they scanned the trail. Recounting how odd the shadowy creature felt. It felt.. Matted and.. somewhat wet? "Odd." Spark mumbles to herself. Almost forgetting the canine behind her.
"How do you always do that?" The canine asks as they push themself up.
Spark turned. "Sibling senses." The feline purred in amusement as the canine chuckles. "How about you Dawn? Got bored exploring for the day?"
Dawn shrugged. "I got hungry." Dawn looked up at Spark, opening their mouth to speak but instantly got interrupted by Spark.
"No i haven't hunted yet. Haven't got time." Spark smiled at Dawn softly.
"Maybe Dad has?" Dawn inquired, seemingly disappointed from the lack of food. Looking around for their father. "Who knows? Besides, You can hunt for yourself." This made Dawn frown.
"What!" Spark huffed.
"I'm bigger than you, Its harder for me to hunt." Dawn shrugged they began to walk towards Home Sweet Home.
"Aren't you forgetting something?" Spark purred as she followed her sibling.
"I am?" Dawn blinked.
"Yep! Dad is almost twice the size of you and hunts better than me." Spark chuckled as Dawn groaned. "You have no excuse."
Dawn gave Spark a playful glare before sighing dramatically. "Whatever."
After arriving at Home Sweet Home, Spark jumped up on one of the bunkbeds. Watching Dawn search through the destroyed orphanage.
"Whatcha looking for?" Spark asked, tilting her head as she watched her sibling. Dawns ear twitched but they didn't reply.
Spark rolled their eyes, her ears pinning for only a moment before they hopped off the bed. Looking around at the trashed room. Picking up a worn-down CatNap plush. Smiling gently before laying the plush back down, Spark turns to Dawn who is still searching through the room. "Dawn, what in the hell are you looking for?" Spark hissed, quite annoyed. "I can help if i know what your looking for."
Dawn paused their search. "Remember that pendent thingy that we found? The heart one?" Spark blinked. Trying to remember.
"The one that Papa found?" Dawn nods at Spark. "What about it?"
"It kind of looks like your pendant. Don't you think? It's just a different symbol." Dawn turns to Spark, grabbing her fire pendant. "I just want to find it to compare them." Dawn let go and continued searching.
"..andd why should we care about some pendant?"
Dawn didn't respond. 'What is with you and not responding?!' Spark thought angrily, letting their fur bristle to show irritation. Dawn suddenly let out a harsh sigh, plopping down on one of the beds with their hands over their face. "UUGGHH! I give up!"
Spark stifled a purr of amusement. It wasn't often Dawn got this frustrated. That was usually Sparks job. "Maybe Papa took it with him? He looked really sad when he found it." Dawn huffed. Glaring at the entrance. "You don't know when they will be back."
Spark opened her mouth to make a snarky comment but decided that would just make this situation worse. "They usually get home around this time. Right?" Spark stretched with a long yawn, laying down. Letting her leg dangle off the side of the bed. Looking down at where Dawn was laying. "A nap always makes time go faster."
Dawn stood up. "Pass."
Spark shrugged, turning over to get into a relaxing position. "Suit yourself, Fluff." Spark purred after closing her eyes as sleep slowly overtook her body.
