A Sneak Peek
Helen smiled a little; Ripley had a voice which it hard to figure out what gender they were, but when they sang, it sounded nice and calm. She wondered why Ripley would want to conduct birds instead of sing songs for a show, but that wasn't up to her to question.
"And here are the five fucks and Roxanne..." Helen narrated as they passed the room the six and Kiruru were in. "As a recap, that's Nate, with the mullet. And Buzz is in yellow. Cookie has the green eyes and brown hair."
"Uh huh. Guy's the blonde, which means Schmitty is the one with the robot in his arms." Ripley noticed.
"Shhhhh! Kiruru's saving energy." Schmitty shushed.
"Oh, hi Helen. Showing Ripley around?" Roxanne questioned.
"They want to be Cedar's understudy." Helen said.
"Good luck." Schmitty said. "Bet they're a great singer."
"The bird host?" Roxanne asked.
Helen nodded her head.
"Good luck, Ripley!"
Ripley waved back, with a nervous smile on their face as they walked off with Helen.
"I hope they do good." Nate commented. "I once heard them sing some song in a bathroom stall."
"Which one?" asked Guy.
"I didn't check the stall they went into!" Nate said. "That'd make me a creep. A weirdo! What the hell would I be doing there? I don't-"
Nate's eyes then widened with realization.
"They were singing a Cranberries song, Guy." Nate explained before pulling out five dollars "This is for all the dumb blonde jokes I made at your expense, this past month."
"Cranberries?" Roxanne asked.
Schmitty sighed, with Kiruru saving energy soundly in his arms.
"Okay, The Cranberries were an Irish rock band back in the day. Their lead singer was Niall Quinn but at some point was replaced with the late Dolores O'Riorden." They had a hit called 'Zombie' which was based on a bombing that occurred. That song is gonna be thirty years old. They also have a song called "Dreams"; during lockdown, an acapella group sang a cover of their it; but they're mostly known for 'Zombie'." Schmitty explained.
"That's it! They were singing 'Dreams'." Nate smiled.
