Chapter Text
It was a sunny summer Saturday. It was rare that both Ginny and Harry had a weekend day off at the same time. Ginny’s Quidditch season had just wrapped up the previous weekend to a dissatisfying finish where the Holyhead Harpies lost the final match. Despite this disappointment, Ginny was pleased to be able to enjoy a peaceful day in the lovely summer weather with her husband. The couple was wandering aimlessly around Diagon Alley shopping.
With their hands clasped, they slowly made the rounds to the various shops: Quality Quidditch Supplies for Harry to purchase new Quidditch gloves, the apothecary to replenish their potion supplies, and Eeylops Owl Emporium for treats and food for their owl, Spike. Their next stop was Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes to pop in and say hello to George and Ron and then grab some lunch. These days there wasn’t as much to interest them at WWW because they had little use for the novelty items sold there, but they wanted to support their family. Although Ginny still loved to pet the pygmy puffs. The little fuzzy fluffballs were so cute!
Given that it was still summer and the students hadn’t yet returned to school, WWW was pretty full of young shoppers. Harry and Ginny meandered around the ground floor of the store perusing the latest offerings. Skiving Snackboxes had a new flavor: leprosy licorice, which gave consumers a nasty rash and blisters. WonderWitch products were New! and Improved! The Patented Daydream Charm eliminated the side effect of drooling to make them even harder to detect.
“Oy!” called a voice from up the stairs. “What are you two doing here?” His voice was pleased but surprised.
Harry and Ginny looked up and saw Ron walking down the stairs towards them. “Hey, Ron. Just out and about,” Harry replied. “Would you like to join us for lunch?”
Ron glanced behind the couple. “Ummm, I would have liked to, but we’ve got a bit of a crowd. Your groupies seem to have found you, mate.”
Harry and Ginny turned around and realized that there was a group of about a dozen teenage girls following them around. Harry rolled his eyes and sighed. Being followed by admirers was something he didn’t think he would ever get used to. “Ugh, I hate when this happens.”
Ginny was a bit put out by Ron and Harry’s assumption that the pack of teenage girls was there for Harry. She loved Harry, but he wasn’t the only one who had fans. Most of the girls were wearing some article of clothing that was green or had a talon logo on their attire. She turned away from the boy towards the girls and happily exclaimed, “Hello, ladies!”
The fangirls squealed in delight. They had just met one of the best players from their favorite team, the Holyhead Harpies. Ginny graciously posed for pictures and signed autographs. Harry and Ron stood back watching the scene. After a few minutes, Ginny turned back and cheekily grinned, “Don’t let it worry you, Harry. It’s me. I’m extremely famous. I’ll meet you at the Leaky in thirty minutes, yeah?”
Harry nodded and waved his agreement all the while smiling at how wonderful his wife was. Always kind and gave of her time for those who venerated and respected her.
