Work Text:
Alex had to admit, when Morgan suggested a rage room as a fun thing to do together, he accepted so fast. A room where he could break things? With no consequences? Sure, it wasn’t heroes he was breaking but it still sounded fun. Which is why, now, Alex is thinking maybe he should have Morgan go to his therapist.
Earlier that day
Morgan tied their shoes in the car while Alex drive, feet on the dash wrapping his obnoxiously long laces around their ankles. Well, they’re high-top shoes but still, his ankles.
“You know, if we got in a crash, your legs would be ripped from the hip holes.” Alex said. Morgan started laughing.
“Hip holes?” They laughed harder. “You mean sockets?”
“Ah, same thing.” Morgan kept giggling, finishing tying their shoes and putting their feet down.
“It totally is not the same thing.” Alex playfully rolled his eyes.
“So, never been to a rage room, do we have to clean the room after?”
“No, they clean it after. I booked an hour and a half, and they provide us the things to smash and things to smash them with.”
“Ooooh this is going to be so fun.” Alex sounded so excited.
Alex was having the time of his life, throwing things, batting things, crushing things. Everything! Alex noticed that Morgan was much more reserved. Still having fun, laughing at him when hit a glass cup so hard with a bat that it turned to dust.
But Alex did notice that Morgan wasn’t getting as into as Alex.
“You should let loose Morgs, c’mon, you’re all tense and casual!” Alex laugh, dropping his weapon and coming behind them rubbing their thumbs between their shoulders just the way Morgan loved. As predicted, Morgan groaned happily, knees buckling a bit making Alex wrap an arm around his waist to hold him up, forcing Alex to stop.
“Alex, you know you can’t do that unless I’m sitting!” They scolded. It only made Alex chuckle.
“C’mooon, let loose. I want to see Morgan let loose.” They batted Alex away.
“You do not want to see that.” They said picking up a crowbar.
“Ooooh now I really want to see that.” Alex followed Morgan around the room watching as he throws a glass bottle up and then batting it with the bar.
“Alex, you really don’t. You would never look at me the same way.” Alex came around them into their line of sight.
“Morgan. Do you forget who you’re talking to?” Raising an eyebrow. “I am literally a mass serial killer for fun.” That made Morgan laugh, tapping Alex’s side with the bar.
“Yeah yeah. I know I know. Big scary evil S-Tier, undefeated and omnipotent.” Morgan said a little sarcastic as they smiled at him; it made Alex feel warm and fuzzy.
“You know, you literally just described me right?”
“Yes, but that’s not what you are to me, hence the sarcasm.” Alex.exe stopped working as Morgan moved around him. When Alex recovered, he turned around looking at Morgan.
“How do you see me?” He asked.
“Hm? Um, well, I sorta just see you as normal. Sure, I know you’re all powerful, no weakness at all to our knowledge at least, unless you let it affect you but I don’t see you like that. You’re my best friend, partner in crime, you even married me for tax benefits. You’re not the ‘All-mighty S-Tier, supreme supervillain, undefeated and omnipotent.’ You’re just… Alex, to me.” Morgan spoke, not looking at Alex. Alex knew they was blushing, he was blushing too but so touched, tears were welling up.
“You trust me enough to show me a side of you that you show no one besides your parents. The mundane, human side that nobody else believes you have. And I love it. I love that you trust me like that.” Morgan continued as he pushed around bigger pieces of glass with the bar he still held. “You even trust me so much that you let me move you when you sleep. You cook so well. You love knitting and shitty romcoms. You’re even scared of things like horror movies. And no one but me will ever see that side of you.” Morgan crunched some glass. “You also… care about me, which shouldn’t even really be counted in this but it means a lot to me to be cared about the way you do with me. All in all, you’re not the S-tier villain to me, you’re just Alex.”
Alex was silent; staring at Morgan, unaware that the tears spilled over rolling down his cheeks. Morgan turned and immediately looked alarm. He scurried over fast. “Sorry sorry, I didn’t mean to get so deep with you.” They pulled the sleeve of their sweatshirt over their hand and reached up, gently wiping tears off his cheeks.
“No, it’s alright. I’m the one who asked.” Alex’s voice sounded wet and he sniffled. “Just wasn’t expecting such an in depth response.” Morgan laughed softly.
“You know I’ll always give you what you want. Well, most times anyways.” Morgan put their arm down.
“Will you let loose in here for me?” Alex put on his best pleading face. “I’d never look at you differently, I promise.” He batted his eyes with a pout, tears still coming but less intensely. Morgan rolled their eyes.
“I can’t just let loose on command Alex.” Alex smirked evilly.
“I can help you~.” Morgan raised a brow and Alex turned them around, guiding them by the shoulders to a tv on some slabs of wood. He held his hand out, bat flying to his hand. Alex put the bat in Morgan’s hand, taking the crow bar from them.
“I’ll talk to you,” he said, leaning in closer to whisper to him. “you just focus on the words I say, get into a mindset. Let yourself feel the feelings and express them, alright?”
“Yeah…” Morgan said breathless. “Yeah, okay…”
“Good,” Alex purred. “now, imaging Chad has just burst into the apartment, trying to ‘break the spell I placed on you.’” He felt Morgan twitch. “Imagine he’s kidnapped you, taken you back to the fairness association to ‘cleanse’ you. Steer you back to the path of righteousness.” Morgan’s breathing subtly came out heavier, Alex could tell their anger was rising.
“Imagine your parents-” Alex didn’t even get the whole sentence out before Morgan slammed the bat so hard into the tv he could hear a crack. He stepped back a bit. “Imagine your parents,” they hit the tv. “what they said when you decided to become a villain.” Morgan hit the tv a couple more times before the bat broke at the hilt. Alex wasn’t even able summon another weapon, Morgan already grabbed the crow bar and hit the tv again and again and again. That tv was truly getting a beating of its life.
“Talk it out, if you can.” And with that, Morgan began spewing word vomit.
“FUCK! FUCKFUCKFUCK!” Each screamed fuck was followed by a hit that sent pieces of plastic flying. “FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU FOR EVERYTHING! FUCK YOU’RE BEATINGS,” Alex froze. “FUCK EVERY FUCKING WORD YOU EVER SAID TO ME! ‘PATHETIC! USELESS!’ FUCK!” Alex stared, “BREAKING BONES, CUTS DEEP ENOUGH TO KILL, EVERY TIME YOU FUCKING BURNED THE SHIT OUT OF ME! I WISH YOU’D FUCKING DIE I HATE THAT I CANT BRING MYSELF TO LET IT HAPPEN!” Alex’s own anger was building, alongside his shock. He knew Morgan’s parents were bad, but abuse bad? “FUCKING TWELVE AND YOU’D FORCE ME TO NEARLY KILL MYSELF WITH YOUR SHITTY TRAINING! NOTHING I DID EVER MADE YOU PROUD!” That tv wasn’t going to last much longer. “FORCING ME TO HUMILIATE MYSELF CONSTANTLY AS A PUNISHMENT AS IF I EVER DID ANYTHING THAT DESERVED THAT!” Alex was holding in so much anger. “FUCKING REVIVING ME EVERY TIME YOU’D KILL ME DURING A FIGHTING TRAINING!” Morgan’s voice broke while Alex’s blood turned to ice. Dousing the rage in pure devastating shock. What? Morgan slammed the crow bar much harder than the others, lodging it deep into the tv and unable to pull it free, but he was still mad. Yanking on the bar hard enough that if it broke free it’d likely smack them in the face. Breathing heavily, much heavier than the should be, much rapidly than they should be.
Alex moved quick, coming to Morgans side, taking his hand. “Hey, hey it’s okay, you’re okay now. Morgan look at me.” They stopped, breath coming hard and fast. “Morgan.” Alex said firmly but gently. “Look at me, please.” Morgan finally did, staring at him for a moment before letting go of he bar and shoving themselves into Alex, wrapping their arms around him tightly and pressing their face into his chest. Alex immediately wrapped his arms around them pressing a small kiss to the top of Morgan’s head.
“You’re okay, you’re okay. I’m here, you’re safe.” Alex said softly into their hair.
“Home.” Morgan forced out. Alex needed no further instruction, immediately teleporting home with them held close and tight. He teleported into Morgans room.
“C’mon. Let’s lay down.” Alex prompted trying to pull back enough to get Morgan into bed. Morgan gripped tighter. “Okay okay, won’t let go.” He snapped, changing Morgans clothes into something more comfortable. Shoes replaced with fluffy socks. Alex wrapped his arms around Morgan and gently lifted him enough that his feet were off the ground, carrying him to the bed and climbing into it, kicking his own shoes off in the process. Morgans breathing had slowed down, still gripping Alex tightly. “I’m sorry, I should’ve listened to you. I’m really sorry Morgs.” Alex said as he situated both of them to lay comfortably while keeping them pressed together. Morgan’s head resting on his bicep as Morgan removed his one arm so Alex wouldn’t lay one it, tucking it close to his own chest.
Morgan snuggled closer, their legs intertwining as Morgan found new ways to cling to him. Alex felt Morgan say something.
“What? You spoke into my chest.”
“I said, it’s alright. I kind of needed that.” They said as they turned their head away from his chest. Finally, Morgan resituated to look at Alex. They were inches away from each other. Alex bent his arm and ran his fingers through Morgans soft curls.
“Are you feeling okay?” Alex asked with concern. Morgan smiled weakly.
“Yeah, because you’re here.” Alex’s heart fluttered and he grinned.
“Don’t let that go to your head.” Morgan teased.
“I absolutely will.” Silence fell between them as they just looked at each other. Something was shifting between them right now; something good.
Alex and Morgan stared into each others eyes. Then Morgan spoke.
“I want to kiss you.” Alex.exe stopped working but he still immediately replied.
“Yes!” He cleared his throat; he sounded way too enthusiastic. “I mean, yes of course. We can kiss I suppose.” Morgan laughed.
“As if you could pretend that you didn’t just immediately and very happily said yes.”
“I don’t know what yo-” Alex was cut off by the softest, most loving kiss he’d ever experienced. He all but melted on the spot, kissing back. Morgan pulled back a few seconds later, Alex chasing his lips just to kiss him again. It made Morgan giggle.
They kissed so many times, until eventually Morgan slipped into sleep. Cuddled closely and tightly as if Alex would leave. Even if needed to, nothing in the entire universe would separate him from Morgan right now.
