Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Prologue

Looking at it from the outside, nobody would guess that the quaint town of Amity Park was haunted. Although it was beautiful and had everything you could ever need, it didn't stop the ghosts that would occasionally terrorize the citizens. This prompted the Guys in White, a government agency dedicated to eliminating all ghosts and other paranormal beings, to open a research facility on the edge of town. It stood alone, away from other buildings and houses to keep their privacy with gates and security to keep people from brownnosing. Every day was usually the same boring routine for the people who worked there. This night, however, was not one of those nights.

Alarms were blaring and security was tumbling over each other to find the threat that breached the building. They soon came across a figure in a black and white hazmat suit, white hair, and green eyes that had a glow to them. Although they tried their best to detain this ghost, he ended up fazing through the walls of the building and taking off into the night on foot. Security tried to run after him, but they lost sight of the target fairly quickly.

After all the excitement ended, the operatives in the building all entered the conference room to discuss what had happened and what to do. Operative O, a tall Caucasian man with a large build, walked over to the computer in the corner of the room.

"What we just witnessed was something we didn't think was possible," he started to say to the other agents in the room. His partner, Operative K, an African-American man with the build of a powerlifter, walked up to the front of the room while Operative O tried to pull up camera footage.

"The new kid we hired got caught in an experiment," Operative K started to explain. "We think he... somehow became a ghost." The other operatives gasped softly, shocked that such a thing could happen.

"That's what this whole fiasco was about?" One of them asked, causing K to nod.

"Affirmative." O successfully found the footage he was looking for and motioned for the other agents to gather around to watch. The computer screen showed one of the rooms that was designated for experiments where O and another scientist were along with the new lab assistant they hired. His hair was jet black and his eyes were a bright shade of blue. He wore white scrubs with a black longsleeved shirt under it before pulling on a white and black hazmat suit that the agency had provided for him. The three of them were standing in front of a massive, empty circle that was supposed to be a portal to the world of paranormal. They had been working on it for months and thought they had made a huge breakthrough, but when they tried to fire it up, nothing happened. The operatives watched as the scientist and O walked away, but the kid had wandered inside the empty portal. Before they knew it, there was a bright, white flash and the portal sparked to life. O and the scientist ran over as the kid emerged from the portal, except his appearance had altered dramatically. His hazmat suit was now mostly black with white accents, his hair was white and his eyes were green. Alarms started blaring while the portal started to emit smoke. Everyone left the room just in time for the portal to blow up, and after that, the camera went out too. All the operatives were shocked into silence, almost not believing their eyes but then remembered their line of work.

They had never encountered an experience like this before, but they knew one thing for sure. They had to find out what they just witnessed with their own eyes and where he went. Operative O stood and walked to the front of the room. He waited for his fellow agents to remove their eyes from the computer screen and gather together in front of him before speaking.

"Our mission is simple: find Daniel Fenton."
