Work Text:

There was a slow rhythm – the sound of hooves against a beaten path, the subtle shifts of their bodies as they rode along.

It was a gorgeous sunset, the sky dappled with orange and pink. Though, Joy could hardly look at the sky when the man she loved was right next to her, catching all of her attention.

She couldn’t help but stare at how the soft light made his skin glow, his eye twinkling as he looked ahead at the beautiful sights around them.

Wyll then looked down upon her, raising an eyebrow curiously, giving a confused chuckle.

“What are you staring at? Do I happen to have something on me?” He asked, a bit amused.

In response, Joy shook her head, moving to lean against him. “No, no, love, just admiring the view.”

Interlocking their fingers together, she pulls his hand up to kiss it, sighing softly as she held on tight. “It’s nice to finally have a day to the two of us.”

Wyll nods, squeezing her hand lightly. “A date – just between you and I.” He leans back against the seat of the carriage. “Gods, I can’t believe it. I never thought we would be able to… have this.”

Now Joy herself let’s out a small laugh, though she stays pressed against Wyll's side – he’s warm (had been incredibly so since he’d acquired his horns) and it just felt nice to cuddle while the moving carriage brought a nice breeze.

Eventually, the carriage came to a stop, the horse letting out a whinny. Wyll gently pulled away from Joy, taking his time exiting before holding out a hand to help her – as she looked down upon him, she couldn’t help but think that he looked like a proper prince.

The deep red suit he had picked for their date had intricate patterns sewn into it, the colors complimenting the man quite well. His smile – Gods, Wyll could make even the coldest of hearts swoon with that smile.

Taking his hand, she steps down to the ground. Once she’s firm, Joy can’t help but tug him down to give him a chaste kiss on the lips.

“Sorry, “ She says as she leans back, enjoying the flustered look upon Wyll’s face. “I thought I’d have my dessert before dinner.”
