It was a quiet day at Jefferson County Elementary School, Milo and his best friend Melissa were in the science lab working on a big project.
"We're going to get the highest grade in the class!" the redhead was excited.
"And if it works, maybe we can even discover another world!"
They laughed together, despite the exploding light bulbs and breaking tools, the project was going very well.
On the other side of the door, Bradley Nicholson was spying on them, grinding his teeth:
"Damn Murphy... Melissa was supposed to be in my group, not wasting time with a walking disaster... Why can't she see the true evil behind his actions?"
He continued to watch the two laugh together.
It was a few days until he couldn't take it anymore and went to talk directly to her:
"Melissa, I have something important to tell you..."
"If it's to talk bad about Milo, forget it," she replied seriously.
"But he's dangerous! This thing you're doing could explode at any moment!"
"Stop talking nonsense. Milo is experienced with electrical wiring and knows how to defuse bombs."
"I'm telling you this for your own good! Stay away from him before it's too late!"
She didn't listen, knowing him better than anyone and aware of how jealous Bradley was.
The bespectacled boy decided that if he couldn't persuade her nicely, he would have to resort to drastic measures. The night before the science fair, he disguised himself and broke into the laboratory, started swapping some wires around while he remembered all the times Milo was the center of attention, how everyone preferred to see him getting spun around in the turnstile than to listen to the important facts about the museum that Bradley had to say, how Melissa was always by his side being extremely dangerous, every bet he lost because Murphy made it to school on time.
It would all end here, as soon as he exposed the fraud that he was.
Suddenly, the machine started making a very loud noise, that would surely attract attention if heard, he looked for any place that would diminish the sound but his arm got stuck:
"Damn Murphy!"
He tried to get out, but couldn't. It wasn't long before the door opened, Milo and Melissa arrived:
"Bradley!" exclaimed the redhead. "What do you think you're doing?"
"This stupid machine trapped my arm! Get me out of here!"
Milo analyzed the situation, he was a bit confused:
"The polarities are inverted, the generator was activated... Did you do something?"
"This is not the time for that!" Bradley complained.
"Come on, Milo," Melissa huffed. "Let's save him."
They approached, trying to find a way to free the boy, but the machine was reacting. A strange portal opened, a light covered the entire block then the three were suddenly pulled into the unknown.
