Work Text:
Kaminari’s eyes widened. He rapidly patted Iida, eyes still locked on Midoriya as the greenette hung his head.
“He’s gonna do it.”
Iida chopped an arm, trying to defend against Kaminari’s flapping assault. “Cease!”
“He’s gonna do it!”
“He’s gonna do what?” Uraraka asked curiously. The rest of 1-A watched on, their silent curiosity as vocal as Uraraka’s question.
“HE’S GONNA DO IT!” Kaminari insisted. “I made a bet with Midoriya!”
“I must condemn your gambling and yet I am also curious!” Iida chopped.
“What bet?” Yaoyorozu inquired, covering her mouth to hide a smile. Kaminari was still flapping at Iida.
“I bet him if he faced Todoroki, he’d use his strongest attack!”
“And how do you know about his strongest attack?” Jirou scoffed.
“Saw him practice! The freakout was worth it!”
“You freaked out? Noooo,” Jirou drawled. Kaminari shook his head, eyes still on their classmate.
“Nah, he did. Thought he’d hit me with it.”
Iida settled for grabbing Kaminari’s hands. “Midoriya is certainly one to be worried for others in danger. His strongest attack must be something.”
Kaminari’s struggling stopped and he grabbed the railing of the box, leaning forward eagerly.
“Here it comes. Here it comes! HERE IT COMES!”
1-A looked down at the arena.
Midnight dropped her arm. “BEGIN!”
Todoroki raised his right foot.
Placidusax’s Ruin
“ AHM A FIRIN’ MAH LASER! ” Kaminari cried.
Sigil.
Dragon head.
BEAM OF GOLDEN FIRE.
Todoroki’s eyes widened as he dropped to the ground, avoiding the beam of fire that would have surely bisected him had he remained standing. The beam swept right, left, then circled around Todoroki before dissipating as it tracked skyward.
Izuku looked up at the student box and cocked his head at Kaminari, a resigned look on his face.
Happy now?
Kaminari nodded rapidly, his grin as bright as Placidusax’s flames.
YEAH!
