Chapter Text
Luna came back from his quick trip to the asteroid belt. Honestly trying to gather asteroids for earth to use in his next game of asteroid dodgeball was getting boring plus he thinks he saw Ceres there and he is not prepared for that violent interaction. But he did hear part of Jupiters story of when his red spot had formed. An endless storm that is hundreds of years old with no end in sight. Jupiter still considers it new since it's only a couple hundred years old which surprised Luna at first before he realized that Jupiter is billions of years old. He then began to wonder about how all the planets in the system have changed.
There was a time when earth didn't have life. He can barely remember a time in which earth wasn't worried about the life that grew on him. In fact what was earth like before he had formed. Was he the same childish planet he knows now or was he someone completely different.
He wanted to know.
He needed to know.
He had to know.
He decided he was gonna ask earth about the beginning and it seemed like it was great timing seeing as how laid back he looked right now.
"Hey Earth, if you aren't busy do you think you can answer some questions" Luna asked his planet who seemed to be in a very calm and relaxed mood. Earth looked up at his moon and gave him a smile.
"Sure thing moon what do ya wanna ask but please know that if this is about me to stop playing asteroid dodgeball the answer to your question is No." Earth said with a joking tone which just caused his moon to roll his eyes.
"No it isn't about that but one of these days I'm going to stop blocking the asteroids. Anyways I was wondering what the beginning of the solar system like. After your whole trying to make a new sun fiasco and hearing Jupiter and different planets talk about the past I was wondering what was it like in the beginning and what was it like when I was created." Luna asked, a little bit excited at the thought of hearing stories from his planet. Usually Jupiter is the one to tell everyone about different events but Luna is curious to hear it from his planets perspective. Earth at first looked surprised at the question but then smiled at how happy his moon got about hearing some stories.
"Alright I'll tell ya everything I remember but please know my memory is a bit patchy." Earth said which cause Luna to nod motioning for his planet to continue with his story. "Anyway it was about 4.5 billion years ago when a molecular cloud collapsed creating the sun. The sun's creation in short led to the creation of all of the celestial bodies in the system. Jupiter I think is the oldest in the system. As far as I remembered. When I was created he was the first person I went to with questions although he was different back then compared to now." Earth explained trying to be as accurate as possible with his explanation with what he could remember. Luna looked a little confused before speaking up.
"Wait but I thought all of the planets where created at once. Are you saying that you are all different ages?" Luna asked which caused earth to be in deep thought for a second before nodding. "Yeah I'm pretty sure we are all different ages. I'm pretty sure the gas giants were made first and the rocky planets were made millions of years afterwards. I remember when I first woke up mars was already there and I think Venus and Mercury was to." Earth said trying to remember a past that seemed to be blurry for him for some reasons.
A blurry face keeps popping up in his mind but he can't recall who it is. It looks like mars but it can't be mars because mars had lif...
Luna interrupted his thoughts asking some more questions of the past. "So does that mean you're the youngest of the planets? If you are then why are you bigger then all of the rocky planets." Luna asked a little surprised. His planet was always a lot more childish than the others which made sense if he was the youngest. "It doesn't sound wrong for me to be one of the youngest but it also doesn't seem right. I'm pretty sure someone was younger than me but... I can't remember who it was. Anyway after we were all created the solar system was pretty hectic. Jupiter hadn't settled into his orbit so he was always wondering, almost spilling into the asteroid belt a couple of times but luckily Saturn helped keep him steady. I mostly remember him constantly throwing asteroids at all of us. Some where on accident, while others not so much." Earth said laughing at the end getting a memory of a young Jupiter who looked annoyed at him and chucking an asteroid.
Earth didn't remember feeling scared of getting hit, in fact he remembered taunting the planet more after he either dodged the first one or allowed it to hit... him? Why would he allow Jupiter to hit him with asteroids? He had life though, he wouldn't risk the life on his surface just to annoy someone. But back then he didn't have life that's why he didn't mind taking all the hits in fact he was always protecting... Venus and Mars? But why? They never cared about getting hit by asteroids now, but back then they where... Scared.
Earth snapped out of his deep thought after Luna kept calling his name. Earth looked at his moon who now looked a little worried but Earth just offered a big smile to reassure him he was ok. "Sorry for spacing out for a second but yeah everyone in the system back then was crazy. In fact I don't even think Saturn and Uranus had rings back then. None of the gas giants had any rings. I remember I use to visit the gas giants a lot. Sun never cared if we left our orbit back then so I would always just go and visit everyone to see how they were doing. One of the gas giants didn't really like me that much I think it was... Neptune? No not Neptune but someone didn't like me roaming around and bothering the gas giants. It was ok, after the gas Giants chased me out I would just go back to my orbit. It was fun coming back because someone was always waiting for me. She always smiled when I made it back" Earth said with a fond smile on his face. Luna looked at earth confused at the last part. She? "Ummm Earth what do you mean by she? Did all of the planets back then just hung out in each other's orbits?" Luna said looking at earth who went from having a smile on his face to then looking confused.

Who was she? She was important, right? She always smiled at me. She always talked to me. She was the reason I was never lonely.
Why
Why can't I remember you
Earths head began to hurt as a blurry face once again came to mind. His head was actually pounding now.
"Earth are you ok? Hey tell me what's wrong." Luna said trying to get his planets attention. Earth looked up at his moon and nodded his head. "Don't worry just a bit of a headache nothing to serious. I'm... I'm fine." Earth said trying to lessen his moons worry which wasn't working. Luna wasn't convinced.
"Hey don't lie to me and tell me what's wrong are your hu..." Before Luna had a chance to finish Earth surprisingly snapped at him.
"Luna I said I'm fine and like I said it's nothing serious" Earth said in a very stern and slightly loud tone. Luna looked really surprised at this because earth never yelled at him like that before. Yeah they would bicker and earth would have over the top reactions to different situations but this felt different. He genuinely sounded upset and he didn't know why.
This caught both mars and venues attention and they both gave the moon and planet a curious look. Earth realized his outburst and calmed himself down "Hey im sorry I yelled at you, you were worried. Just... Just give me some time to myself for a bit and once I'm feeling better I'll finish answering your questions ok." Earth told his moon in a calm tone and gave him a small smile. Luna hesitated but then just nodded as to not upset his planet anymore. Luna decided to stay at the very edge of his orbit to make sure Earth stays on his axis but also to give his planet some space.
I know he always had problems with remembering the past but what was so bad that it made him react that way. He saw mars give him a questioning look but he just waved off the planet pretending everything is ok.
Luna just looked at Earth now, who still seemed upset about something. What was it that caused such a reaction?
Was he angry at something he had remembered?
Or was he angry at something he had forgotten?
