Together

Summary:

The future wasn't something that Tsukishima thought much about.

Notes:

Final day but also not I'm planning to write the days I miss because of college. I wanted to "finish" with a bright note because most of these fics were sad lol

Like always english is not my first language, so sorry if there is any mistakes.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

A few years ago, his future looked bleak.

There wasn’t anything left for him; there was no family to care about; the one he loved was gone because of him; there was no reason to live; all he had was letting himself rot in jail for the rest of his life.

A lifeline was thrown his way, and some desperation made him take it. With the hope that the one he loved was alive winning over any other possibilities, he was ready to throw his life at the person who gave him another chance.

It may or may not have been a lie; years had passed, things had been said and shown, and he didn’t know what to believe.

He reached the point of not caring; as long as the chance of her being happy exists, he will take it.

Not having a way to reach out and know also meant whatever happened to him wouldn’t affect her or her happiness.

And he was sure he would be dead sooner than later.

At least he thought he was.

There was something that came and changed it without him even realizing it.

Now the idea of dying sounds like a distant thought.

The idea of living the rest of his life—and it being a long one—by Koito’s side is something that has completely replaced it.

He will fight to keep on living just to stay together, and he knows the other man thinks the same.

For the first time in a really long time, the future looks bright.

“TSUKISHIMA.”

The scream that took him out of his thoughts was coming from a window on the second level of the building. Looking up, there was Koito, half of his body coming out of the window, flapping his arms, trying to get his attention.

“What are you waiting for? I had been waiting for you for over an hour!” He crossed his eyes; the annoyance could be felt in the distance.

“I will be up there in a minute.” He shouts. Koito nods but doesn’t move from the window until he sees Tsukishima walking in the direction of the building.

He was truly not the type of person he saw himself sharing his life with; he was a bit too energetic at times, but after experiencing time with time, he wouldn’t change it for anything in the world.

He can’t wait to spend the rest of his life by his side.
