Chapter Text
Copper-9, year 3076, 4 PM.
The concert hall are empty. Its room are dimly lit. Here stands on the stage, a talented and well known pianist, N. In a few hours, he will hold a concerto where these empty seats and rooms will soon be filled with people. Piano Concerto itself is a type of concerto (instrumental composition for one or more soloist accompanied by an orchestra or a large ensemble), in which it's a solo composition in the classical music genre. As the name suggest, it's composed for piano and accompanied by an orchestra or other large ensemble.
"... sigh." Despite being on stage for countless time, he's still nervous whenever he thinks about the crowds. All pressure were put on his shoulder as people put their highest expectation on him.
He loves music. He loves playing the piano. That's something he's good at, and the only thing that can calmed him down. He finds it funny how his most calming activity to do, is also one of the most stressful.
He turned his body around, facing away from the audience seat. He walks towards his piano and sat down. There's still time before the concert started. And there's still time for him to relax.
...
He closes his eyes, and began to imagine as if the room were full of audience, watching him performing on the stage.
He take a deep breath, and gently hover his hands above the keys. With emotion flowing from his heart to the tip of his finger, he pressed the keys gently, and played one of the most beautiful Nocturne ever created, Chopin's Op. 9 no 2 ( Nocturne Op. 9 no 2 - N Piano Solo).
Bb G
His hands moving gently and elegantly on the keys, his finger pressing it with much emotion, creating a peaceful atmosphere throughout the empty hall. His head sway, following the gentle rhythm of the piece.
He continue imagining the crowd listening to this piece, as they all watch and put all their focus on his movement and emotion he poured. This is why he loves music. This is why he loves to play one. Music has a soul, and it unites everyone no matter who or what they are. Playing the piano soothes him, and he loves it when he can show his emotion through his fingers.
N is lost in his moment for a minute, before another sound came into his audio receiver. It wasn't someone calling him, nor a disturbance. Rather, its the sound of a violin, combining their sound together to create a strikingly calming atmosphere. Heck, N is sure some who heard this will start tearing their eyes up (Nocturne Op. 9 no 2 - N & Uzi). N raised his head to look at the person playing the violin. Standing near him is Uzi, N's closest friend. She's going to be one of the strings ensemble performing with him today. Her black dress fits well with her purple hair. "She looks beautiful", N thought to himself.
They glanced and look at each other in the eyes, and both exchange smiles as they do so. N quickly adjust and played this piece's arrangement by Sarasate for Piano and Violin. The empty halls are now filled with their instruments combined together. It was, beautiful. And to think that this happen just because they both decided to spend their free time playing their instrument adds another level of contentment.
N can feel how much Uzi poured her emotion onto each stroke of her bow, following how N played it before. Uzi closes her eyes as she's playing her violin. Her arms and her upper body beautifully moves in accordance of the rhythm and the movement of her bow stroking the strings. There's no one watching them, they know that. But that's the point isn't it? To fully submerged themself and become one with their instrument. It almost felt like the whole world are theirs to paint. Besides, what's music without a soul and emotion? That's what makes music beautiful; Its soul and the emotion you can feel just by hearing it. Different hands, different results. Different mood, different results. Nothing stays the same.
...
As their piece comes to an end, N turn his gaze to Uzi who's now looking at the audience. He don't know what's in her mind, but he'd like to think that she's also imagining the halls are full of drones watching them. He smiles as he pressed the last note on his piano, and Uzi's last stroke on her violin. They stay silent for a bit.
"Nice one Uzi. Never thought you will join me there", he chuckles lightly.
Uzi quickly turn his head and look at N, "yeah. Thought it'll be fun if we did."
"It definitely are Uzi. I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy that. heh."
"... We should play more often, N. I don't know, it just feels... right. Everything just clicks whenever I play with you." And she do really mean it. Romantically, and musically. She hasn't confessed, yet. But she do gave out hints here and there, but it seems like N is unable to pick it up.
"Ahaha, well... We can schedule it out if you want to." N went silent after that. He thinks of the time when they possibly could do this again. "Uhmm, how about- next Friday? I think I'm free that day."
Uzi's eyes perks up to hear N agreeing to her request. "Yeah! Sure! I'm free for that whole week."
They both continue to chat while waiting for the rest of the ensemble to gather.
...
Uzi couldn't wait for the next Friday where she will be with N, playing together with him. It was always a dream of her to do so ever since she met him on C-9 Piano Competition a year ago. That is the first time she and N meet each other, and it's her first time to play together. This is where she found out how great of a pianist N are, and how much she loves being around him. He's nice, caring, and gentle. The more she thinks about it, the deeper she sank onto her pool of love for him. Ah, if only she have the courage to confess...
