Chapter Text
Our story begins with Jack our protagonist. Let's just say that he was not having a good day..or week..or life, actually. But let's focus on this day specifically for now. The day had started rather nomally tbh. This morning Jack woke up, got dressed said goodbye to his dog and went to school. He joined his friend who were waiting for him, by the school gate. " Hey guys! " Jack said as he got closer to them. " HeEeEyYy~ " Jaden said in a weird gremlin like voice. Jaden was Jack's friend and had been for 6-... wait no, ⁷? Yeah 7 years. " mm, okay that was weird. Anyway, hi. " James said. James has been Jack's friend for 10 years. And Julien simply gave a nod of acknowledgement and continued to do..whatever the fuck he was doing on his phone.
Julien had been ' friend ' with Jack for almost 14 years. Though, Jack doesn't really remembers how and where they met... Anyway.
After greeting each other they started chatting and making their way to class. They were talking about dreams " speaking of dreams, I had this crazy dream last night, and I was wondering if you guys thi- " Jack was cut off by an exasperated sigh coming from his right where Julien stood. " you're still worried about that? I already told you, its just a dream it doesn't mean anything. So stop worrying your stupid little brain about it. " Julien said as patted Jacks head. Jack leaned into his touch and said in a low voice " I know but I..I looked up the meaning of dreams and- " he tried to explain but was once again cut off by Julien " Jack you're a smart guy, surely you don't believe all that. Right? " Julien said as he pulled Jack closer and held him by the waist. Jack was a little caught off gard by the gesture but didn't resist it. It would be no use anyway.
" I don't know.. What do you guys think? " Jack turned his head to look at Jaden who just shrugged. " I don't know. I never really looked into the meaning of dreams. " she said. Then they all turned to James who was just just looking at his feet. " What about you, James? " Jack asked. But James didn't answer, or even look at him. "...James? " Jaden pressed. She was getting worried, James doesn't usually space out like that. But he still didn't answer. " James. " Julien said. And James finally answered "...I don't know, I never really cared about what my dreams meant. " he said but still didn't look up. But his answer seemed to be enough. " mm. I guess you're right Julien, I shouldn't worry about it. " Jack said and put his head on his chest. ( Closer to his stomach than his chest, but heyyyy~ )
They finally arrived to their class. which was history btw. They got in just as the bell ringed. The teacher got in and went to his desk. " alright everyone, sit the fuck down. " Jack and his friend went to their sits which were in the back, to do as they were told. Jack was very excited, because history was his favorite subject. The teacher started his lesson and Julien immediately fell asleep. The teacher would from time to time ask random questions and never had to wait more than 2 seconds to get an answer.
Jack was giving all the right answer without having done any research on the subject . The other student didn't even bother raising their hands, the only voices you could hear were jack's voice and the teacher's voice. That was until this girl Jannie ( which he at first tought was a new student ) started talking.
Jack asked his friend jaden who she was, and she said " Dude that jannie, she has been in our class for two years now" " ...Are you serious? " " Yeah man, we even had a group project with her. How do you not know her?! " " I...don't know.. "
Unlike Jack, Jannie already did research and was quickly catching up. Jack was not happy with that. She was answering the question better than him. That was a battle he was not about to lose.
His answer were almost as good as hers without doing any research. He was forgeting some event here and there but nothing too serious. They were almost on the same level. The atmospher was so dense you could almost touch it with you hand.
All of the student were nervous but also curious, wondering how this would end.
The teacher however, was enjoying the show, asking more and more difficult question. He kept track of who answered the most question correctly. So far the score was: 56 correctly answered question for Jack and 57 for Jannie.
The was about to ask another question. Everyone was listening closly ( clearly on the edge ). Jack and Jannie were both ready to answer as soon as the teacher asked the question, but just then *dring dring* the bell rang. Everyone was disapointed, the student and the teacher, they did not bother to hide it :
" aw come on " " Are you serious " " this was just getting intresting " " Man this is the first time I ever wanted to stay after school " or thing like that, could be heard in the classroom. And while yes Jack was sad, cause he techniquly lost by one point, he was also glad he could go home, so he could study and do researches.
As soon as he got home, he didn't waste even one second, he threw his bag on the floor, wich he usually would have never done. He would usually, put it in his closet but he was too focus on research to care. So focus in fact that he almost forgot one thing. One very important thing.
He only remembered once he was infront of his bedroom door. Inside the room was his dog laying on the bed with his favorite plushie. " right, you haven't eaten yet did you? " said Jack. He really wanted to study but he knew he had to feed his dog. " Come on, let's get you something to eat. " he turned around and started walking toward the kitchen, his dog following right behind. Once in was in the kitchen, he took the dog food from the cabinet, and put it in his balw. Luckily, he remembered to put his dog medecine in the balw aswell.
He then went back to his room. It was very messy. Seems like his dog had quite the party while gone. " Are you kidding me?! *sigh* whatever, i'll clean later. I've got to study. " he walked in the room, trying to avoid all the clothes and pillows, scattered around his bedroom floor.
When He finaly get to his computer, He turn it on and immediatly begin to study. He could've studied for hours non-stop, but it seems like his friend had other plan for him. Jack heard someone banging on his door. He was going to ignore it but he decided against it, when he remembered he ordered something online a week ago. It was only suposed to arrive tomorow tho.. he thought. ' well maybe they're just early ' ' why Are they banging on my door like that tho? ' ' maybe they've been knoking for a while and I didn't hear them so they got impatient. ' ... ' oh shit the door! ' he thought.
He ran to the door and opened it quickly. " Sorry I took so- " Jack stopped in the middle of his sentence when he saw who was outside. Standind there were Jaden and Julien. " t'en a mis du temps à ouvrir. Said Julien looking impatient. " What took you so long? " asked jaden as curious as always.
" I was studying. What else would I be doing? " asked Jack. " And what did you say, Julien? You know I can't understand french, so stop acting like I can."
" I said: took you long enough to open the door. And you should learn french .
" And why would I do such a thing ? "
" Cause, we won a trip to France next week, and you're coming with us! Said Julien enthousiasticly.
"... What? "
Jack hoped he had misheard that whole sentence, even tho it was very unlikely.
" How did you not understand that? I was speaking English!! "
" Maybe it's because of your accent. " Said jaden .
" My accent? You can barely hear my accent!! "
" ..."
" ..."
" OUI ! Okay, now you can hear it, but that because you made me angry!!...dumb bitch. "
" Okay, let's calm down. We don't want Julien to get really angry now, do we Jack? " Jaden said somewhat menacingly.
" ...no. No we wouldn't. " It was true, he absolutely did not want Julien to get angry not in his house or in front of it
Julien didn't really like them talking about him like he was some wild animal that could attack any second, but as long as they stop talking about his accent he wouldn't complain.
" *sigh* whatever. " said Julien. " What were you studying for anyway? We don't even have any exam tomorrow...do we?" He asked.
" No we don't. I was studying so I could- " Jack stopped mid sentence. He wasn't sure if he should tell them the truth.
" So you could? " Julien insisted. He was still a bit angry.
" So I could beat Jannie.. " He mumbles the last part.
" Je jure, si tu parle pas maintenant je vais t'enfoncé une baguette dans le cul. " Julien said coldly. Jack didn't understand but he knew by his tone that he was not inviting him to a tea party. He asked Jaden
" Traduction, please? "
" He said if you don't speak up now he's going to shove a baguette up your ass. And you and I both know that if he says it in French then that means he is serious. So you better tell us right now. " she said that in a very serious tone, when she was actually quite amused.
Jack knew she was telling the truth. He has done it to another guy before, it was not pretty. So he told them.
" I wanna beat Jannie, okay! "
He was red from embarrassment. Both Julien and Jaden were quiet, making him even more embarrassed. All three of them were silent for a moment, until Julien finally broke the awkward silence.
" Mec t'es sérieux? C'est ÇA que tu pouvais pas nous dire?! Juste pour ça tu mériterais que je t'enfonce une baguette dans le cul quand même! " He then proceeded to pull a baguette out of a bag that appeared out of nowhere.
" I hope you're not sensitive. " he said menacingly, walking forward baguette in hands. It was obvious that he was really going to do it.
" WOW, HEY WAIT, WAIT, WE CAN TALK ABOUT THIS!!! "
" You brought this upon yourself. " Said Julien.
" Now turn around. And don't worry, with the experience you got back there it's going to slide right in. "
" NO, NO, NO, COME ON MAN,I'LL DO ANYTHING!! " He begged.
" Anything? "
" I don't like the way you said that... " Jack was scared of what Julien might do. But Jaden was loving it.
" I like where this is going ~ "
" NO!...no. I take it back. There's a limit to what I'm willing to do. " he sigh.
" I-... look, I'm sorry I made you waste your time. I just... I really want to beat Jannie. " He said in a sad tone. It was clear to Julien that he was saying the truth. He was about to speak but Jack cut him off, asking in a sad yet serious tone
" Is it wrong of me to wanna beat her?... "
Julien could see he was about to cry and Jaden heard it in his voice. So Julien reluctantly put the baguette away.
" I don't think it's that bad. " Said Jaden.
" Yeah, I mean you've always been the one to answer every questions the best " Julien added on.
" So its normal that you want to beat her, and be the number one student, the one who is always right, the smartest student." His tone was kinda sarcastic but they paid no mind to it.
" Really? *sniff* you really think so? " He asked, the tears now running down his cheeks and onto his chin.
" Come on now, don't cry. " Julien pulled him close and hugged him. Jaden decided to join the hug and said
" Ofcourse we do, if we didn't think so we wouldn't have said it-well, maybe I would but not Julien. "
" Why would I ? I mean if you suck you suck, I don't see why I should say the opposite just to make you feel better about yourself. "
" Its called comforting people, Julien . " said Jaden.
" No, no, no. Comforting people is like saying ' hey, it's okay, it's okay to be a useless piece of shit. The world needs people like you ' and liying is like saying 'oh my God, that amazing, you did great! ' when in reality what they did is absolute dogshit. "
Both Jack and Jaden were speechless for a second. Julien just said that as if it was completely normal.. Then again its Julien, so they shouldn't be surprised.
"... if this how you comfort people, then I think I know why you don't have any other friends. " said Jaden
" Okay, rude and James would disagree, he loves the way I comfort people. "
Jack chimed in to say " Ofcourse he does, he is worst than you. "
" wow, to think that I took my precious time to go fetch you some history books from the library, and that how you repay me? " Said a new voice. Just then a shadow emerged from the darkness.
It was James.
He had said books in hands.
" Oh um...I'm..sorry? " Said Jack.
" it's fine. " He said nonchalantly. " I mean, it's true so I can't be mad. " He walked over and handed him the books.
" Here you go. Give it back when you're done, alright? "
" Thanks man. That nice of you, you're way nicer than Julien over here who just tried to shove a baguette up my ass. "
" Yeah, and I'll shove a cha-cha up your urethra, if you say that again. "
" Yes sir, sorry sir. "
" What's a cha-cha? " asked Jaden .
" it's a chocolate bar. " said James as he pulled a few cha-cha out of Juliens bag and hands one to her and to Jack.
They both took it but were hesitant to eat it.
" Before I eat this, I need to know has this went inside of someone by any holes you could find on their body? " Asked Jack.
" Depends, has it got a red star on it? "
" No, but there's a white moon on it. " Said Jaden.
" Mine does have a red star. " Said Jack.
" Then you might want to pick another one, Jack. "
As soon as Julien finished his sentence Jack let go. Staring as it hits the ground, and after about 7 to 10 seconds he looked up at Julien and James with a look of disgust and betrayal.
" How could you? James, I thought you were different, But you're just like him. I expected Julien to do this, but you...why would you do this to me, your best friend? "
" First of all, I didn't know. Second of all, you're being overdramatic, and third of all, you literally insulted me a few moments ago. " James pointed out. Seriously Jack was being overdramatic. This isn't even his fault!
" He's not wrong. " Said Jaden.
" But you said it was fine! "
" That true. " Said Julien.
" Witch gives me no reason to do this on purpose. "
" That is also true. " Said Jaden.
" Shut up Jaden! " James and Jack said at the same time.
" That mean! Can't a woman talk anymore? "
" They never could.. " Said Julien
" Wow, okay. Um.. Julien do me- "
" OK " Julien said, stopping jaden from finishing her sentence. Unfortunately for him, that did not work.
" A favor. Do me a favor, and shut up "
" He's not wrong tho.. " Jack said under his breath.
"Waoh.You guys are such great friends." She said sarcastically.
" Yeah we know. " They all answered.
" Idiots "
" What was that ? " Asked Julien. He heard what she said, he was just challenging her to say it to his face.
" Nothing...bitch " she whispered that last part but Julien heard it nonetheless.
" what did you just call me? " He asked as he pulled a baguette out of nowhere again. " N-NOTHING, NOTHING, I JUST-I SAID THAT YOU WERE HANDSOME. Please don't shove a baguette up my ass.. " she pleaded.
Julien didn't really want to get close to Jaden private part, so he would settle for something else. " Fine, i'll let it slide if you apologize and give me your wallet. "
" What? "
" I said- "
" No I heard you, I just don't see why you would need my wallet.. " said Jaden.
" simple, you apologize and give me money, and I don't shove a baguette up your pussy. " Julien explained.
" Or you can just take my apologies and I keep my money. "
" Can he tho? " asked Jack.
" Yes, this way everyone is happy. " answered Jaden.
" Are we tho? " asked James.
" just give me the damn money. "
" No! "
" just give him the money, Jaden. " said James.
" Yeah give him the money. " said Jack.
" What-but-FINE! " She pulled out her wallet, took out a fifty dollar bill and handed it to Julien. " Here, happy? "
" very. " He said as he put the money away...somewhere...probably the same place where he keep all of his baguette.
" anyway, I have to go back to studying. See you later guys. " said Jack as he turned around to go back inside.
" Wait! Don't you want to spend some time with your friends? " Jaden asked.
" No." Was Jack's answer.
"...Wow that was...rude. " Jaden said sounding hurt.
" Yeah, even I found this pretty rude." Said James.
" Yeah, especially coming from you. " said Julien.
" Okay okay, fine. You can study with me if you want... "
They often studied together, but they were usually at Juliens house, and if they really couldn't go there they would go to James house. No matter where they would go, it was never his house. He was a little nervous to show his house. Plus he hadn't cleaned the mess his dog made yet. What if they thought he was messy all of the time ?! He must have gone to Julien house atleast a hundred times by now, and he hadn't seen it get even close to that amount of messiness even once.
Not even the day after a party! And I'm talking big party, with the whole neighborhood invited! It was always clean. The bed was made, the dishes were done, the floor was moped/vacuumed, the windows were so nicely cleaned they seemed transparent, even his basement was clean!
Yes, he had been in Juliens basement quite a few times. Sometimes against his will, but Julien never did anything too weird so he didn't mind.
He hadn't seen much of James house, they would always go straight to his room. They never walked around for fun, but from what he'd seen it was pretty damn clean.
He had only seen Jadens house once and it was a long time ago so he didn't remember, he could only assume it must have been rather clean too.
He felt a little guilty for thinking his friend would make fun of or gudge him for something like. Deep down he knows they would never-i mean, Julien might, but atleast he knew he would be halfly joking.
James probably wouldn't say anything even if he did find his house messy, he would have kept his mouth shut.
And Jaden..well Jaden is stange,not in a bad way but not in a good way either, sometimes she acts like Julien and that not good, it really isn't.
But Jack doesn't really think Jaden would gudge him. Atleast he hoped so... Anyway.
" Are we going to stand here all night or are you going to let us in? " Julien pushed Jack away from the door as he finished his sentence. But As he was about to open the door, James stopped him by putting his hands on Juliens hand.
" Hey you shouldn't do that, apologize to Jack for pushing him.. " He said as he slowly took Juliens hand off of the door knob. Julien just stared at him like he just said the dumbest thing ever.
