Summary
When Daemon Targaryen claims his bastard daughter, Maelyra, born from a pirate captain he took for a lover in his time as King of the Narrow Sea, it’s not to raise her in court and gown her in dresses. That’s for his trueborn daughters, Baela and Rhaena. No, Lyra, the child of a fallen Tyroshi pirate captain, possesses too many skills Daemon can use in his strategies and plots, as he senses building strife between the courts of Queen Alicent and Princess Rhaenyra. He needs a spy, an assassin, and a dragonrider no one expects, so he brings his bastard into the household of Driftmark, disguised as nothing more than a foreign serving girl.
Lyra grows up between Driftmark, the Red Keep, and Dragonstone in the events leading up to the Dance, and as tensions rise, her loyalties are tested, especially when she finds herself caring for someone who may bring doom upon those she calls kin.
(Basically all of Rhaenyra and Daemon’s kids have a secret older sister who will smother them with eldest sister energy in all events leading up and into the Dance. Also slow burn friends-to-enemies-to-secret-third-thing between female OC/Aemond.)
