Remember my name

Summary:

Yeh Shuhua was the total opposite of a party person. She just didn’t understand what all her friends loved so much about getting drunk and embarrassing themselves, to her it was just a stupid waste of time.
Well, this is why Shuhua never expected that getting to know a young woman named Soojin during a party like this and breaking into their school together with her was going to be anything but a stupid waste of time.

Chapter Text

If Yeh Shuhua wasn’t a fan of one thing, then it was going on a party. She just didn’t understand the concept of partying, why would it be enjoyable for anyone to get drunk to a level where you can only embarrass yourself? Or maybe even get sick and have the worst headache once you wake up in the morning. Shuhua seriously didn’t get why a lot of people were so keen on doing that, but the problem is that all of her friends got it.

"Are you going to come with us tonight? Wait, that’s not a question. You are going to come with us tonight." Yuqi insisted earlier today, not wanting her best friend to 'miss out anything', or at least that’s what she always says whenever Shuhua wants to stay at home instead. But to be honest, most of the things that Shuhua had witnessed on those parties were things she would have been glad to miss out.

It’s just that at some point, Shuhua stopped to fight against it because she knew that it was useless anyway, which is why she has to attend a party every few weeks now. And very unfortunately, today was one of those party days, a Friday night after an exhausting week of school. Shuhua and Yuqi were currently in their senior year of Highschool and while they actually had to focus on studying, Yuqi was convinced that partying helps to free the mind from all the stress. Her best friend didn’t share her opinion on that.

But here Shuhua was, about to involuntarily enter the already filled dance floor of another popular senior year party right next to their Highschool. Besides Yuqi and her, some of their close friends who are former students were also attending the party with them. All of them were party people, which meant that Shuhua really had no other choice but to pretend to like it as well so she won’t ruin the mood for them. She didn’t want that, she still loved her friends after all, sometimes she just really had to make sacrifices for them.

"Here, I still owe you a shot for coming here with me tonight." Yuqi chuckled as she handed Shuhua a small shot glass full of something that at the first glance looked like water but was definitely far away from that. She couldn’t even define what kind of high percentage alcohol that was, but when the blonde girl next to her signalised her to just drink it, Shuhua did the latter without blinking. It was disgusting and burned all the way down her throat, but maybe it will at least make all of the loud music and the unpleasant smell of different body fluids more bearable.

"Did you already see the others?" Shuhua asked once she had recovered from what she just drank. It was quite packed in here which made it pretty hard to look for familiar faces, but the moment she had finished her question, Yuqi already began to excitedly wave at someone. Only a few seconds later, a group consisting of three very happy girls began to tightly hug her best friend and then Shuhua, making it seem like they haven’t seen each other for years. It were three weeks, three.

"It’s very nice to see you guys again, college has just been very exhausting lately. But tonight we will forget about that, right?" Minnie who was the tallest out of the three girls exclaimed.

"Being a senior isn’t easy either. But you are right, tonight we shouldn’t worry about all of that!" The blonde girl almost screamed, causing Shuhua to flinch. She then scanned all the familiar faces in front of her: Minnie with her very striking eye makeup and bangs as always, the smallest but most intimidating looking Soyeon and Miyeon who looked so innocent in a soft pink dress. Some things truly never change, but Shuhua was glad about that.

But just as she was about to greet them as well, something else caught her attention. To be very exact it was someone, someone who was standing right behind her friends and awkwardly stared at the floor. It was a girl who seemed to be slightly older than Shuhua herself, maybe one or even two years. She was completely dressed in black, wearing a tight lace corset as well as dress pants and a blazer, her long dark hair perfectly completing her outfit. In contrast to that she had very prominent cherry red lips which for some reason, Shuhua couldn’t stop herself from secretly looking at.

To her misfortune, the owner of those captivating lips must have noticed that someone was curiously eyeing her up, because before the younger girl could do anything about it, her eyes were already meeting the other’s intense gaze. After the latter caused her to hold her breath for a moment, Shuhua quickly looked away, breaking the short eye contact with a fake cough. Oh god, this was awkward.

"Ah right, we need to introduce you to someone new!" Miyeon realised and then turned around to look at the girl in black before adding: "This girl is my primary school best friend Seo Soojin. She also went to this Highschool with us for a few years, but then she went abroad and now she is back to study psychology at a top university of Korea. Isn’t she insane?"

"Hey, don’t make me seem like a nerd, it’s just my passion. But it’s nice to meet you. I’m sorry, what are your names again? Miyeon told me, but I am bad at remembering names so don’t take it personally in case it is going to take a while." Soojin tilted her head in question as she eyed the two girls.

"No problem, my name is Song Yuqi and that girl right there is my best friend Yeh Shuhua, but she is a bit shy sometimes. At least at the beginning. I’m not though, I’m a big extrovert and also pretty talkati-"

"We know Yuqi, we know. Now let’s get each of us a drink, alright?“ Soyeon interrupted the blonde girl because she knew that otherwise, Soojin would know about her whole life story soon.

Since all of the girls agreed to that, they went to the bar to order. On the way there, Shuhua occasionally glanced at Soojin, trying her best to not get caught again. What she noticed was that the older girl definitely had a bit of a poker face, not showing any emotions as she looked through the crowd and talked to Miyeon. It was kind of intimidating since Shuhua couldn’t tell if the girl was annoyed, bored or just emotionless, but she also couldn’t deny that Soojin was an interesting looking woman to her. Interesting as in beautiful, but Shuhua didn’t want to admit that to herself.

Once they were back on the dance floor with their drinks, Shuhua finally felt how the alcohol was doing its magic. The only good thing about this 'magic' was that she was finally less bothered about all the people and loud noise music, but after a while her head usually began to hurt anyway. Shuhua still decided to enjoy the effect as long as it lasted, which is why she joined the dancing Yuqi and Minnie in their small circle.

During her time on the dance floor, Shuhua realised that a certain girl was watching them, leaning against the wall while emptying her drink as fast as possible. She didn’t move, not even when Miyeon and Soyeon joined their dance circle as well. Shuhua was about to ask Miyeon why she was here if she wasn’t going to join them when she realised why she was here herself. Maybe Soojin was forced to come here as well, who knows.

What really confused Shuhua was the moment the older girl just straight up left the dance floor and walked outside, not even bothering to tell Miyeon what she was up to. But the girl in the pink dress just shrugged it off as the others looked at her in confusion.

"Let her be, she will come back eventually. Sometimes she just needs a break. It really takes her some time to warm up."

Shuhua just accepted this as an answer and continued to dance with the others, actually finding herself having some fun tonight as well because until now, none of them was feeling sick yet. That was usually where the fun ended.

But until now everything went surprisingly well and maybe partying wasn’t that bad after all, Shuhua thought to herself.

It was only after they all loudly sang along to Rihanna's "S&M" that the girl noticed the stinging pain in her head. It felt like her body was trying to violently tell her to stop dancing and having fun, because with this kind of pain it was definitely impossible for Shuhua to continue staying on that packed dance floor. She sighed in frustration, turning around to look for Yuqi.

"My head hurts, I really need to catch some fresh air, but I will come back don’t worry." Shuhua screamed into her best friend’s ear and she just nodded.

"Maybe you can look for Soojin as well, I think she is still outside." Miyeon who had apparently overheard the conversation, added.

"Alright, see you guys."

And with that, she quickly left the crowded room and looked out for the door to the very needed fresh air. Once the latter hit her, Shuhua took a deep breath. It already felt a bit better, the warm late summer night being more relieving than any pain killer could ever be. She was able to smell the scent of the blooming roses in the school garden, the freshly mowed lawn underneath her, the green oak trees and the intense smoke of a cigarette- Wait, what?

When Shuhua realised where this unpleasant smell was coming from, her eyes widened in shock. She really didn’t expect to see Soojin in front of her, occasionally taking slow draws of the cigarette that she was holding between her fingers. It didn’t seem to be her first time doing that, which made Shuhua curious. It was rare for students of a top university to smoke this casually after all.

"You shouldn’t smoke." Shuhua muttered after silently approaching Soojin who was facing the street in front of them. The older girl then turned around to find out who was judging her like this, raising an eyebrow as she saw that it was Shuhua.

"I don’t think you have the right to judge me, Shuhua." Soojin huffed, provocatively taking another puff of the cigarette. This wasn’t what surprised Shuhua though.

"Wait, so you can remember my name?" She frowned, recalling the things that the other girl had said earlier. Soojin had to chuckle inwardly at that realisation.

"It’s quite hard for me to forget the name of the girl who kept looking at me. I’m not blind  and staring isn’t very polite by the way, I hope you know that. Did I scare you or anything?" She wanted to know as she eyed Shuhua carefully.

"I was irritated by you, that’s all." That kind of was the truth after all, but perhaps not the whole truth.

"Alright, it doesn’t surprise me. You seem to be quite different from me so of course you wouldn’t even think about smoking. It’s a bad thing after all." Soojin said that in a slightly mocking way which Shuhua definitely wasn’t happy about, but then she realised what the girl meant by it: Compared to the other’s completely black outfit, her pure looking white flower blouse and light blue jeans were a bit of a contrast.

"Hey, I’m not as boring as you might think! I was just seriously surprised to see a psychology student smoke in a place like this. Couldn’t that destroy your reputation?" Shuhua seriously wondered as she thought about how strict some universities here in Korea were.

"Listen, usually I don’t smoke. This place just made me feel the urge to, but I’m really just an occasional party smoker at most." Soojin explained herself as she stubbed out the rest of her cigarette.

"If you say so, it’s not my business after all." The younger girl shrugged it off as she watched how the remaining smoke that was coming out of the ashtray started to disappear.

"You are very quick to realise that. I just wonder why you even care, I mean it’s not your health or your reputation that is at risk." Soojin expected a good explanation.

"That’s true, but since you are the friend of my friend I still care a little. I really care about my friends, you know." Shuhua made it sound like the other girl didn’t do so.

"If you care about them this much, then why are you here and talking to me instead of partying with them?" She asked provocatively, but that didn’t bother Shuhua too much.

"Because I don’t like the music in there and I don’t mind talking to you, or do you mind talking to me?" She truly did this to annoy Soojin on purpose at this point.

"No, no I don’t. I would still enjoy it more if you judged me less, though. Besides that, I don’t think that the music is the reason why you are here. You can’t fool me." Soojin was very confident about being right.

"For a psychology student, you have got quite an attitude. You might be hard to read yourself, but you are good at reading others, aren’t you?" The younger girl still felt a bit intimidated by the way Soojin kept analysing her, but she wouldn’t admit that.

"Maybe, I mean that is going to be my job. Wait, let me make an assumption about you: You actually aren’t a party person, but you wanted to make your friends happy and now you are here to catch some fresh air because it was getting too much?" After saying that, Soojin quickly reapplied her red lipstick and then put it back into the pocket of her dress pants. It seemed like her lipstick was something that she always had to carry around with her.

"Yes, surprisingly close. My head just started to hurt like usually, but I’m truly not a party person. Why are you here then?" Now it was Shuhua’s turn to ask a question.

"Because as much as I love Miyeon and my other friends, I simply don’t feel like partying today. I just came home from university to calm down for a moment and not to party, but I know how much they must have missed me so I couldn’t say no." Soojin admitted with a sigh.

"I really understand that. Are you planning to stay here for the rest of the night or do you want to come back inside with me once my head feels better?" She suggested with a slight smile and was very surprised when she noticed how the older girl smiled back at her softly. It surprised her because this was the first time tonight that her poker face had disappeared, even if it was only for a short moment.

Soojin would never really show it, but she truly didn’t mind talking to Shuhua right now. Despite some of her own rather provocative remarks, she thought that it was amusing to talk to someone who was as expressive as the other girl was. Shuhua really wasn’t good at hiding her emotions and feelings while Soojin was so good at it that it was almost concerning.

"I will think about it. It’s just a beautiful night tonight, it reminds me of my time back here." Soojin said admiringly as she looked up to the sky of this starry night.

"It’s really breathtaking, but why does the night sky remind you of your Highschool days though?" Shuhua asked in confusion because usually she was home before the sky turned dark.

"Long story, but Miyeon and I used to hang out here after school as well." She replied shortly, not knowing if she should share those things with Shuhua.

"What do you mean by that? You can tell me the long story if you want to, only in case it isn’t too private, of course." The younger girl tilted her head in question as she got curious about the other’s 'long story'.

Soojin knew that she has just met Shuhua for the first time in her life, but for some reason she already felt herself warming up to her a little. She didn’t know if it was because of the alcohol in her blood or because she decided to randomly trust someone who was almost a stranger to her, but something in her told her to do more than to just tell her about this 'long story'.

"I won’t tell you, but I can show you if you want me to." Soojin blurted out without considering any possible consequences. Maybe Shuhua will think of her as a freak now and she would even understand that.

"I have no idea what you mean by that, but as long as it won’t harm me you can totally count me in." She had absolutely no glue but it still sounded like a good idea to her. Shuhua really didn’t like the thought of going back to the dance floor instead and besides that, there was something mysterious about this whole thing and something strangely captivating about the girl with the red lips.

"Alright, but that might take some time, I hope that’s fine with you." After Shuhua nodded in approval, Soojin made sure that no one else was watching them and then slowly walked towards the Highschool, signalising the other girl to follow her. The sound of the loud music that was coming from the party was slowly fading away and soon the only thing that the two girls were able to hear were their own steps in the grass.

Soojin stopped as they were standing in front of the door to the small building that belonged to the caretaker and once again looked around carefully before tiptoeing in order to reach for something that was hidden right on top of the door frame. Unfortunately, she usually did this with the help of Miyeon.

"I might have a problem here… A few inches are missing, could you perhaps try to lift me up a little?" Soojin sounded a bit embarrassed about asking this question since she was not a big fan of asking for help.

"Yes, sure. Just wait a moment-" Shuhua replied before taking a few more steps towards the other girl. She was a bit unsure about where to grab and hold Soojin, not wanting to overstep any boundaries of hers, which is why she awkwardly wrapped her arms around the girl’s thighs and then used all of her strength to lift her up as high as possible.

It was definitely high enough for Soojin to grab what she was looking for, but the moment she told Shuhua that she can let her down again, the younger girl lost her balance and was about to stumble to the ground. She immediately put Soojin down and then unconsciously tried to hold onto something in order to regain her balance and pull herself up again, which she eventually managed to do.

"Don’t hurt yourself please, I remember that you didn’t want this to harm you." Soojin could only chuckle as she felt how Shuhua was still clinging onto her arm and waist.

As soon as Shuhua realised what she was currently doing, she quickly let go of her again and took a step back, not wanting to invade Soojin’s personal space even more. But what was even more embarrassing about this was the reason for her sudden loss of balance: When Shuhua lifted the girl up, she suddenly had Soojin’s scent all over her and it was that kind of scent that made you want to get intoxicated by it. It wasn’t easy to describe this moment of weakness, but Shuhua had never met anyone who smelled good enough to make her lose her balance before.

"I’m sorry." She apologised and lowered her head in embarrassment, but Soojin could swear that she still saw a tint of red on Shuhua’s cheeks in the bright light of the moon. Soojin obviously had no idea why she actually lost her balance though.

"It’s fine, but see what I have got there!" She proudly showed off the key in her hand and then turned around to open the door to the small wooden building. Shuhua was too confused to reply anything, which is why she simply watched how Soojin was already looking for something new again once she was inside.

"This was only the key to the caretaker’s shed, but somewhere here have to be the keys to the- Ah, right there!" Soojin triumphed as she found a bunch of new keys hanging on the wall.

"Wait, we aren’t going to break into the school, aren’t we?" Shuhua slowly began to realise what was probably about to happen next.

"No, definitely not. We are just going to visit some of the rooms in there, nothing else. That’s not breaking in to me, we aren’t stealing anything after all." Soojin said jokingly as she came out of the shed again, locking the door behind her and carefully putting the single key into her pocket.

"Alright… Wait, what?" But as Shuhua uttered that, Soojin was already heading to the rear entrance of the Highschool and the other girl still decided to follow her, even though the idea was starting to make her feel a bit nervous.

"Now one of them only has to fit…" The older girl tried to open the door, but since she had about ten different keys, it took her some time to find the right one. As Soojin tried it with a very old looking key, it finally clicked and the huge door slowly opened. The older girl smiled widely at her success while Shuhua swallowed deeply, being scared about getting caught.

"Are you sure that this is a good idea, Soojin?" She furrowed her eyebrows, looking around worriedly to see if anyone had followed them.

"Miyeon and I have never been caught, you really don’t need to worry about that. Trust me there, Shuhua." Soojin tried her best to assure the girl that nothing is going to happen. "And if anything happens, I owe you something!"

"Okay, that sounds like a deal. Now enlighten me about your long story." Shuhua seemed to be satisfied by this deal, even though she had no idea what exactly the girl meant by it. But for some reason, she really wouldn’t mind to have Soojin owe her something.

"Of course, but for that you need to come in first." Soojin smiled at her as she held the door open, waiting for Shuhua to follow her since she seemed to be glued to the floor. As the latter finally entered the building as well and closed the door behind them, Soojin began to roam around the hall, inspecting every single inch of her old school.

"It still looks exactly the same as it looked like when I left this school to go abroad three years ago." She realised and then excitedly walked towards the lockers as if they were the biggest attraction of the school.

"This one right there is mine by the way." Shuhua said while pointing at a certain one the second Soojin walked past it, causing the other girl to stop and take a closer look at it.

"That might sound like a weird request, but can you open it? I am very curious about what’s inside of it. Lockers just tell me a lot about their owners for some reason." She explained to Shuhua who ended up saying yes with a nod after a moment of hesitation, opening her combination lock and then the locker itself.

Soojin seemed to be very excited about looking at all the pictures that were attached to the inner side of the locker’s door, chuckling as she spotted one of Shuhua with two tiny dogs. She seemed to be good with dogs since she had a few more pictures of them in there.

"Are that your dogs, Shuhua?" Soojin wondered as she admired the pictures.

"Yes, that are my dogs Haku and Mata! Aren’t they so cute?" The dark eyes of the younger girl immediately lit up as she got to talk about her dogs and even though Soojin answered this question with a yes, she had to silently admit that she preferred the Shuhua with a big smile on her face over the two dogs.

Soojin also found some pictures of Shuhua and Yuqi together, the two of them reminding her of her friendship with Miyeon back in Highschool. But before she was about to close the locker again, she decided to tease the girl a little.

"How many love letters did you find in here already? Or how many phone numbers?" Soojin said with a slight smirk as she looked at Shuhua, waiting for an answer.

"Uhm, isn’t that something pretty old-fashioned to do? I’m convinced that no one really does that anymore." She seemed to be a bit embarrassed about the letter situation and Soojin could tell why.

"You really never got one, not even when you were younger? You are so pretty, I can’t believe that none of the guys here ever tried to hit on you." Shuhua could feel her face heating up strangely the moment Soojin called her pretty, making it hard for her to fully process what the girl just said.

"I’m actually glad that they didn’t, very glad." This was the only thing Shuhua was able to reply, causing the other to laugh at her disgusted expression.

"Good for you then, the ones I received weren’t really useful after all. But wait, let me show you something about me in return now." She offered to Shuhua and after closing the locker again, the older girl lead her to the end of the hall.

Shuhua knew that there was a wall full of glass cabinets which displayed different awards and certificates of students that brought pride and success to the Highschool, but she had never actively read through any of them in her life as a student here. This was why she was even more shocked to suddenly read a familiar name on one of those certificates after Soojin proudly pointed at it.

"No way! I didn’t expect you to be a dancer. That’s crazy, do you still dance though?" Shuhua was very surprised to see that Soojin apparently won a dance competition back then during her Highschool days.

"Yes, but only when I’m alone. I kind of expected it to surprise you, especially since I didn’t dance earlier. I’m just not used to dance in front of many people anymore." Soojin sighed and got lost in her thoughts for a moment, until Shuhua suddenly blurted out:

"I would really like to watch you dance in the future, I mean it would be interesting to see what kind of dance you do, like in the purely educational way of watching someone dance, you know? I’m just curious." This made Shuhua want to slap herself.

"Oh yes, sure. Maybe I can show you." The other girl really had to suppress a teasing smile. She truly wouldn’t mind to show the other girl some of her dancing skills though.

"It’s a shame that there isn’t a competition for dog training, I often let my dogs run through parkours, I’m sure that I would win something there!" Shuhua seemed to be very confident about her talent and Soojin could only imagine the funny scenario in her head.

"I would definitely watch the competitions live and support you with a huge banner. Maybe you should really try that." She might have said that in a joking way at first, but the longer she thought about it, the more she started to actually like that idea.

"Do you mean that? You would be the first person to support that hobby of mine then." This was the second time that Shuhua’s eyes lit up tonight and this time Soojin couldn’t stop herself from looking right into them for a short moment.

"Yes I mean that, I think that’s a cute hobby and a special one as well." She assured her and then looked back at all the different certificates.

"If you think so. But speaking of cute, I can show you something that’s really cute. Can we open any of the classrooms with those keys?" Shuhua asked with an excited smile.

"Sure. Is there anything new that I haven’t seen yet?" The older girl seriously wondered as she looked at the bunch of keys in her hand.

"Just let me surprise you." Shuhua replied and then showed Soojin the way to one of the biology rooms of the school. Once the door was open, she was quick to sit down in front of the aquarium that was right next to the sink, signalising Soojin to sit down in front of it as well.

At first it was hard to see anything inside of the aquarium, but when Shuhua turned on the lighting inside of it, two small creatures became visible. One of them was coloured in a light pink while the second one was almost black and both of them were directly looking at the two girls, seemingly confused about the late night visitors. Soojin couldn’t believe her own eyes: Those things were real axolotls.

"Woah, I have always wanted to see axolotls in real life! They are so cute, when did the school get them? Back then we only had boring fish." The older girl was truly amazed by those funny looking creatures.

"I know right, they are so cool! They have been living here for about two years now I think." Shuhua loved visiting this room just to stare at them, always wondering what they were currently thinking. It was hard to read their expressions though, since they were always looking the same.

"Look at their funny faces, it looks like they are smiling at us and they somehow remind me of us as well. You are the pink one and I am the black one." Soojin had to giggle at her own comparison and something about her laugh was so contagious that Shuhua couldn’t help but to join in. When she saw the girl for the first time, she really thought that she wasn’t even capable of laughing, but turns out that it only needed two axolotls to make Soojin laugh.

"I like you a way more like this." Shuhua whispered, but it was still loud enough for the other girl to hear.

"Like what?" Soojin sounded confused.

"Without the cold poker face from earlier tonight, when you smile and show emotions. It suits you, smiling suits you." The younger girl admitted and even though Soojin didn’t expect that sudden change of the topic, this caused her to smile even more.

"You think so, am I not irritating anymore? I always need time to warm up first, but it seems like you successfully caused me to warm up, or our two friends there did." Soojin looked back at the two axolotls in the aquarium.

"You already smiled a couple of times before that though." Shuhua exclaimed happily as she recalled the last hour.

Soojin then once again turned around to face the other girl and since Shuhua was already looking at her, their eyes met for longer this time. But it didn’t feel awkward at all, it only made Shuhua notice a certain warmth inside of her chest, her heart beating a bit faster than usually. But all that could have been because of the alcohol earlier as well, or that’s at least what Shuhua liked to think.

After what felt like quite a long time of them just wordlessly looking at each other, Soojin suddenly broke the eye contact and got up from where she was sitting without saying a word. She then began to observe the room while Shuhua decided to continue looking at the axolotls. It seemed a bit weird to her, but maybe the other girl simply got tired of sitting and felt the need to stretch her legs.

"I remember always having my biology classes in here together with Miyeon, but we barely ever paid attention." Soojin said, her voice filled with nostalgia. She then took a look at the teacher’s desk, inspecting all the different items that were placed on it.

"Well, that’s pretty uncommon for a future psychology student." Shuhua remarked, her eyes still focused on the aquarium in front of her.

"Like I already said, I’m not a nerd, just very ambitious when it comes to my future. And Miyeon always had so much to say, I swear. It was impossible to pay attention!" Soojin defended herself and then spotted something on the desk that gave her an idea, which is why the older girl quickly grabbed a pen and a small sticky note from there.

She then looked over to Shuhua to see if she was paying attention to her, but when she saw that the other wasn’t doing so, Soojin scribbled down something on the pink sticky note. Before Shuhua was even able to notice anything, she quickly put the small piece of paper inside the pocket of her dress pants. She wasn’t going to talk about her idea for now.

"That’s actually even more admirable. But hey, I think you should tell me more stories about you and Miyeon, it sounds like the two of you were just like Yuqi and me." Shuhua turned around to face Soojin with a look of expectancy.

"Sure, I think I have something interesting for you. I hope that you aren’t scared of dark attics though." She didn’t even bother to wait for the reaction of the now very confused Shuhua, leaving her with a lot of questions on purpose while already heading towards the hall again. "Are you coming, Shuhua?"

"What do you mean by that? Yes. I mean yes, I’m scared of dark attics but also yes, I will still come with you. Wait for me-" Shuhua quickly turned off the lighting of the aquarium, got up and followed Soojin as she spoke.

"It’s nothing too bad I promise. I’m there as well after all." Soojin tried to reassure the girl that had now successfully caught up on her.

"I trust you." That wasn’t a lie, she truly did trust Soojin and it was actually crazy to her how fast they had clicked, even after the starting difficulties. Shuhua was basically currently following someone to a dark attic that she had only met today, but instead of being worried she was just so seriously happy.

She then noticed how Soojin had stopped in her tracks for a short moment to once again inspect the lock of Shuhua’s locker. But before she could ask Soojin why she was doing so, the girl already explained herself:

"I was just checking if I locked it properly earlier, but it’s all safe."

The younger girl only nodded in response, accepting this as an explanation. After that, the two girls didn’t stop walking before they hadn’t reached the upper floor of the school. Once they arrived there, Soojin was looking for a certain preparation room of the art section.

"That’s the right door as far as I can remember." She muttered as she was once again looking for the fitting key. Shuhua was still confused about the attic situation, but she was convinced that Soojin was going to answer all of her questions soon.
