Relaxing in Firelight

Summary:

After a battle everyone gets a massage, starting with Legend. Otherwise known as Time is really good at massages and dotes on everyone else a little.

Notes:

I see Time as really warm, he did go through Snowhead Mountain and the Ice Cavern without adding extra layers (yes I know it's video game mechanics but let me dream XD).
I am not a masseuse, I have no idea how massages really work, but I do know that often warmth helps with relaxing so I took that idea and ran with it.
This fic now has art thanks to the lovely kikker-oma on tumblr.

Work Text:

Legend made a soft noise, sinking further into the soft mat below him. The hands that worked on soothing the ache from his back seemed like magic, getting to tense muscles that Warriors with all his experience somehow missed. He purred quietly as the stiffness along his spine was loosened and warm hands worked over his shoulders.

Light fingers threading through his hair reminded him of Hyrule's braiding of Time's hair and he mumbled something into the pillow. A warm laugh followed the words that he thought had been smothered.

"What?" Hyrule asked, his voice as soft as his touch.

The question earned another laugh, the large warm hands moved away earning a whine of displeasure from Legend. A gentle stroke of fingers along his shoulders, soothing the minor ache that had returned with the loss of warmth, was an apology.

"He said that you had better not be including flowers there." Time's voice was as warm as his hands and seemed to waver with repressed mirth.

Hyrule made an indignant sound then seemed to pout.

Time worked at Legend's shoulders now, and Legend sighed in bliss. If getting thrown into a cliff earned him this, the warm massage that seemed to reach muscles and tendons that ached despite Warriors' best effort, then he would have to do it more often. He swore that Time somehow did it better despite Warriors apparently having more practice.

"Hey Wars, you said you learned to do that during the war right?" Wind asked, his voice seemed too bright for the space they were in. How that worked Legend never could figure out but somehow it did and he wanted to tell Wind to go away and ask his questions elsewhere but was too relaxed to get up and do so.

"Artemis needed the help a few times, yes." Warriors confirmed at Wind's question.

"How come Time is better at it then?"

"Because Time is a walking heater half the time." The air above him seemed to fill with mirth again and Legend swore that if the Old Man stopped to tease the others he would do something drastic.

"Where did you learn to do that?" Twilight asked, somehow having moved to crouch next to them.

When Legend opened his eye to glance at the Rancher he noticed that Twilight was blocking his view of Warriors and Wind, though their scuffle was heard from behind him.

"Oh, I picked it up during my Third Adventure." Time replied vaguely.

Legend hissed as a genuinely sore spot was pressed against. Time gave a soft unhappy hum at that and shifted. "I need more of that oil."

Hyrule's fingers paused but before either Hyrule or Time could get up Twilight was on his feet.

"Don't get up, I'll get it."

Sky entered the cave with a happy sound, Four next to him with his arms full of firewood.

"Hasn't Time finished with Legend yet?" Four asked teasingly, his eyes more blue as he spoke. They settled on green again a moment later. "I was hoping to get a turn too."

"His back is one mess of knots and stiff muscles. It's taking some time to get them to relax." Time replied, taking the oil from Twilight, Legend only knew that because he heard the sound of Twilight's steps and then felt a thin trickle of the liquid pour onto his back.

As soon as the trickle stopped Time's hands started working again and Legend was purring louder. Hyrule giggled and his fingers started tugging at and playing with Legend's hair again. Legend knew he had dozed off because when he next became aware Warriors was on a mat next to him with Time working on him.

Four was dozing, constantly curled next to Sky who was working on something, probably a new ladle for Wild... who was serving a bowl of something that smelled amazing and when it was set next to him looked as good as it smelled.

"Eat up." Wild suggested, his voice soft and warm though not nearly as warm as Time's voice. If he had to compare it was like a campfire to the sun on a Spring day... and he shoved that thought away. He could think of how their voices sounded later.

Legend slowly sat up, marveling at the lack of aches from his back and shoulders. He definitely needed to do that more often if it got him this. Time would get over it... probably. Legend snuck a quick look at the Chain's Leader and vetoed that idea. As relaxed as everyone else looked, and most of them were still dozing or asleep, Time was that tense.

"Hey, Pretty Boy." Legend called, voice teasing.

Warriors grunted, lifting his head enough to give Legend a curious look.

"You should give the Old Man a massage when you have the chance."

Warriors seemed to think about it but Time sighed, shaking his head.

"No need."

Sky focused on them and shook his head. "You should let us take care of you too."

"After you eat he can do it."

"If Warriors has the magical ability to stay awake through that." Legend gestured towards how the Captain was also melting under the touch. Time frowned and looked down confused.

"It's very relaxing." Four slurred a little as he sat up, leaning against Sky.

"Is that why everyone went to sleep on me?" Time asked, his tone amused though his eyes showed a little concern.

"Yep." Wild answered as he set a bowl down for Four. "You should try it. Might help with your shoulder."

"Help with- Wild!" Time scolded, blushing a little as Wild revealed something he'd apparently shared with him but tried to keep to himself otherwise.

Wild grinned as Warriors nodded. "After my bones are bones again it's your turn Sprite."

"That's not-"

"I will have Twilight pin you down if I have to." Warriors threatened and Time sighed before nodding.

"Okay, but let me finish properly."

"I will do it in the morning if I have to." Warriors warned, clearly sharing Legend's suspicion that Time would try and get out of it that way.

Seeing the way Time's shoulders slumped it seemed that they were right, but watching him nod made Legend feel so much lighter because he knew that Time would cooperate. Their leader may put them first but he kept his word.

"Say it." Legend teased, earning a playfully disgruntled look. He grinned as he continued eating his dinner.

"Okay, I'll take my turn before we move on."

Legend nodded satisfied. He glanced at the others and by their smiles they were all happy with that. Time's own face showed a shy smile and his shoulders seemed a little more relaxed which Legend counted as a win.

Later when Time was relaxed and purring as he got his massage Legend simply smiled and handed Hyrule flowers to braid into his hair, after all he had seen the delight on Time's face when Hyrule first did that for him and since Time had stopped Hyrule from putting flowers into his hair it seemed only fair.
