“When we first met, I didn’t realize you’d be the best thing to ever happen to me. All everyone saw was the fake you, and then what you once described yourself as the ‘real you’, but you showed me a side of you that I never would have expected and everything that I love about us.”
“ I love the day when we first kissed. ”
Julia was still reeling over the loss of the million bucks and the fact that she now had a mullet. No one seemed to care about this, too busy celebrating over the fact Wayne had won the million. Well… almost nobody cared.
“Want a soda?” MK smirked at Julia as she held two red soda cans.
“You stole those from Zee?” Julia asked with a sad smirk.
“You know me so well.” MK chuckled before she gained a serious look, “Is there something wrong?”
“I’m surprised you still want to be near me if I’m being honest.” Julia sighed miserably, “You admitted yourself that my new mullet looks horrible and I just lost a million dollars. How are you not embarrassed by me?!”
“Why should I be embarrassed? You were screwed over by bad luck, it happens to the best and the worst of us.” MK raised an eyebrow inquisitively.
“Never thought you of all people would say that.” Julia smiled softly.
“Yeah, well you needed it.” MK smiled back before handing the soda to Julia, “I know this is gonna sound sappy Jules, but I’ll always be there for you if you need it.”
“Really?” Julia asked with a faint blush.
“Totally. You’re the best person I’ve ever met.” MK complimented with a blush of her own.
The two sat in silence for a moment before Julia suddenly cupped MK’s face and suddenly asked, “Did you ever watch my episode four confessional?”
“Yeah, apparently if my brain had a cool car you’d date it.” MK snickered awkwardly.
“Well… maybe I don’t care about whether your brain has a cool car or not.” Julia’s blush grew as she spoke sincerely.
“That makes no sense.” MK laughed before speaking again, “But… I get the memo.”
The two then kissed that very night.
“ I love the promises we’ve made. ”
Shortly after the show, MK and Julia were sure to keep in contact and when they eventually got enough money from their part time jobs(to MK’s great reluctance as Julia made it crystal clear she needed one), they moved in together. MK was especially glad to do so since she and her brother grew up in a foster home for as long as she could remember and she got to be closer to her girlfriend. It was also convenient as they had agreed to go to the same school together(MK for auto-mechanics and Julia for marketing).
Currently, Julia had asked MK to talk with her which MK figured would be nothing serious but when she saw Julia’s serious expression, she knew it was important.
“MK, look. I know you have these kleptomaniac tendencies, but if we wanna keep living together and if you wanna stay out of jail in the future, you need to promise me that you’re gonna stop stealing.” Julia told her girlfriend sternly.
“Why? It’s not like I’ve been stealing lately anyway.” MK asked incredulously, she honestly didn’t see the big deal, she hasn’t been causing too much trouble lately.
“Yeah well I know how you are MK, and while I love your mischievous tendencies, I probably won’t be able to live with myself if I lost you because of them.” Julia explained sadly, “Look I know you haven’t been causing any trouble, but I just worry sometimes and-“
“Calm down Jules. I think I get it.” MK smiled warmly at her girlfriend, “I promise. I’ll get some help.”
MK and Julia hugged and MK had made sure to keep her promise since that day. A rarity all things considered.
“ I love the way you kept me safe no matter what. ”
MK was not the biggest fan of parties. While she used to go to a few of them to steal from her drunken classmates, the parties themselves were nothing to write home about.
However Julia was insistent on dragging MK to a college party especially since she was starting to grow her hair back, so she decided to suck it up and go for her sake, though MK would be lying if she said she wasn’t nervous considering she barely knew anyone thanks to her anti-social nature.
Julia had left MK alone for a bit to go talk to some of her other friends(yes, the fact alone was shocking to MK but she got over it), and promised she’d be back soon. MK resorted to sitting on one of the lone couches, unsure what to make of pretty much everyone getting themselves so drunk.
“Hey there.” A voice snapped MK out of her thoughts as she turned to see a tall tanned man smirking at the kleptomaniac, “You’re MK right? You came with Julia?”
“Yep, that’s my name. Don’t wear it out.” MK smiled nervously, though multiple red flags were going off in her head, did this guy know Julia? Did he just watch the show? She was so confused.
“Do you know Julia?” MK finally asked curiously, hoping that didn’t seem suspicious.
“Oh we’ve talked from time to time. She spoke about you quite a bit.” The boy rolled his eyes with a smirk, “I’m Bryan. Nice to meet you.”
“Same here I suppose.” MK shook his hand with an uncomfortable smile, she didn’t like the way this guy seemed and if her instincts were right, then she was in trouble.
“How do you put up with Julia anyway? I mean, she is quite a handful.” The man known as Bryan asked with a smirk as he sat next to MK and put his arm around her. A million alarm sounds were going off in MK’s head right now.
“U-Uh, she may be a bit extreme at times but I’m not flawless either.” MK nervously tried to back away but Bryan kept a firm grip on her back.
“Well I feel someone as stunning as you deserves a break from her. Perhaps you’d like to go out with someone like me sometimes.” Bryan began flirting with the former kleptomaniac much to her horror.
“Sorry dude, I’m with Julia. We kinda have a good thing going on right now.” MK glared at the creep.
“Julia doesn’t need to know. It can be our little secret.” Bryan dangerously smirked at MK, “Besides, most girls would probably dream of dating someone as hot like me.”
“I’m not into men right now, and even if I was, Julia is my girlfriend and I would never leave her! She makes me feel happy without forcing anything on me!” MK shouted furiously.
“Ugh, you're getting way too heated. Maybe you’ll cool down when I-“ Bryan complained before a punch released his grip on MK and sent him lying on the couch. However, the punch didn’t come from MK.
MK looked behind her to see Julia furiously glaring at Bryan, and if glares could kill, he’d be dead on the spot.
“What the hell is going on here right now?! I leave for five seconds and I see you hitting on my girlfriend?!” Julia asked furiously.
“Aw, is someone jealous?” Bryan cooed mockingly, clearly not getting the hint of what he just did, “After all, you wouldn’t go out with me so I figured I might have better luck with the little gremlin over there. I figured it was only a matter of time before she realized her pla-“
Julia glared even harder at him before interrupting with a shout, “Don’t you DARE talk about MK like that you creep! I told you that I wasn’t interested in you, yet you kept trying to make advances, and I’m absolutely certain that’s what you tried to do now! If you even try to talk to me and MK again or speak of this incident, I’ll make you wish you were never born, got it?!”
Bryan nodded fearfully before Julia grabbed MK’s wrist protectively.
“Come on MK. Let’s leave this place!” Julia grumbled furiously.
After Julia quickly said some goodbyes, she and MK immediately left the party and didn’t speak until they got back to their apartment. Once they made it back inside, MK immediately spoke up.
“I’m so sorry Jules. I didn’t mean to ruin your night and-“ MK began apologizing before Julia shushed her.
“MK, no. This is not your fault. I’m the one who dragged you to this party in the first place, and I should’ve told you about Bryan’s advances on me. I never thought he’d go after you.” Julia said solemnly.
“Why didn’t you tell me about him anyway?” MK asked curiously.
“I didn’t want to make you worry about me. I knew I could handle it myself and I did, that’s probably why he decided to try and hook up with you.” Julia explained sadly before tearing up, “God, I can’t do anything right in this relationship.”
“What are you talking about?! You totally saved me back there!” MK asked incredulously.
“But if I hadn’t showed up on time he could’ve-“ Julia tried to speak up before MK stopped her teary rant.
“But you did show up and he didn’t get the chance to do anything to me. Julia, no one has stood up for me like you did back there. Everyone else at that party didn’t do a thing to help me, but you did. I think that speaks for itself how much you care about me.” MK said happily.
Julia smiled at MK through her tears and hugged her before Julia released her hold on MK to speak seriously.
“I should be the one comforting you right now. Did he hurt you in any way?” Julia asked softly.
“My arm is kinda sore, but I’ll live…” MK smiled before asking nervously, “Though I kinda wanna sleep in your bed tonight, I don’t want to be alone right now.”
“Done.” Julia nodded firmly.
“ I love the way you defend the strength of our relationship. ”
“I still don’t get why we need to come to Emma’s stupid reunion.” Julia glared angrily as she got out of her and MK’s car, but MK kept a smirk on her face.
“Aw come on Jules. Total Drama is how we first met and eventually became an item. Besides, I promised Raj we’d be here so I plan on keeping that.” MK reminded the influencer.
“Since when do you keep your promises?” Julia smirked at her girlfriend.
“Since we moved in together.” MK smirked back before opening the door to Emma’s house and walking in hand-in-hand with Julia.
“Hey guys.” MK waved at the crowd of former contestants.
“Hey MK and Julia! Welcome to the party!” Emma smiled enthusiastically at the power couple, “Come on in.”
Julia and MK walked in to see that Ripper and Axel were making out, Zee was chugging soda as Chase was encouraging him to chug it all, Priya was sitting on Millie’s lap and talking with Damien, Nichelle, Bowie, and the Hockey Bros.
Okay, the sight of Priya sitting on Millie’s lap certainly interested them. They both made a silent agreement and walked over to where they were and Julia spoke up.
“Sup buttknuckles.” Julia smiled at the group before MK bumped her arm and glared at her girlfriend as a silent reminder to be civil.
“Oh hey Julia.” Wayne smiled at the blonde influencer, “Glad you could make it.”
“Some are more glad than others.” Millie whispered to Priya who giggled and blushed which definitely intrigued Julia.
“I gotta ask, what are you doing sitting on Millie’s lap Priya? Isn’t Caleb your boyfriend?” Julia asked teasingly, though even with her teasing tone, there wasn’t much malice in it as she could probably guess what was going on.
“Oh, not anymore.” Priya said softly, “He and I broke up because we were having communication issues and I realized I was only interested in him because of his looks.”
“That still doesn’t explain why you’re sitting on Millie’s lap.” Bowie smirked at the two besties which causes both of them to blush and Priya to get off of Millie’s lap.
“I thought it was more convenient for space reasons.” Priya chuckled nervously.
Julia, MK, and Bowie could all see what was going on but all silently agreed not to comment.
“So MK, me and Wayner were kinda wondering how your relationship was going with Julia.” Raj decided to ask to drift the attention away from Priya and Millie.
“Oh, it’s going pretty well all things considered.” MK said happily, “Honestly, I’ve never been happier.”
“Whoa, MK’s being emotional. Now that shows things are getting serious.” Damien smirked which caused MK to blush.
“I’m surprised if Julia can love someone other than herself.” Nichelle muttered with a roll of her eyes which caused MK’s eyes to widen and Julia to glare furiously at Nichelle.
“Excuse me!” Julia glared at the actress.
“What? We all know it’s true.” Nichelle rolled her eyes, “We both know you’ll drop MK when someone hotter takes interest in you.”
MK hung her head low a bit at that comment, yeah she didn’t have the best fashion sense but she wasn’t ugly.
“I’ll have you know that MK and I have been going steady for a few years now, and even throughout all our troubles, I’ve accepted her and she’s accepted me and MK is beautiful just the way she is!” Julia yelled furiously before Damien got in between the two.
“Whoa girls, let’s calm down. Damien smiled nervously, “I’m sure MK and Julia have their reasons for staying together as long as they have. Let’s just move on.”
MK saw that Julia was still a little angry so she spoke up, “Me and Julia are gonna see what refreshments are available. We’ll check up on you guys later.”
MK then led Julia away from the group and over to the snack table where Julia took a deep breath.
“You good now Jules?” MK asked the influencer who looked embarrassed.
“Yeah, I’m good. Nichelle just really gets under my skin.” Julia grumbled in annoyance.
“I can relate, but can I just say, the way you defended our relationship was really hot.” MK smirked with a blush.
“Oh yeah?” Julia smirked flirtatiously at her flustered girlfriend, “Well you’re the hottest.”
“Oh come on!” Bowie cried out from behind them causing them to turn to him in annoyance.
“I came here to get some lunch, not to lose my breakfast with you two practically making out.” Bowie rolled his eyes.
“Well we weren’t making out.” Julia glared at her old rival.
“Yet.” MK snickered causing Julia to blush with a smile.
“You two are disgusting.” Bowie said, but despite his words, he couldn’t help but smirk.
“ I love how you can be my rock when I need it. ”
She wasn’t supposed to see it.
MK and Julia were just playfully roughhousing in their now shared room after MK made a snarky remark on something she didn’t even remember anymore, but when Julia softly shoved MK on her back onto the bed, her stomach was immediately exposed and the scar that she bore was in her view.
MK had tried to cover it with her shirt, but it was clear from Julia’s shocked gaze that she had seen it.
“MK… I saw the scar.” Julia spoke softly but blunt.
“Yeah… it’s kinda why I didn’t want to go further than making out yet.” MK just looked away in shame, “I wasn’t ready to tell you.”
“Can I ask how you got it?” Julia asked earnestly.
MK took a look at Julia and saw the genuine concern on her face. If MK was going to be honest with anyone, it would be her.
“It was from the bear attack in season two.” MK explained solemnly, “It’s the reason I was so bitter about the incident afterwards.”
“But hey, I’ve dealt with worse in my childhood. I’ll be fine.” MK tried reassuring her girlfriend but Julia’s eyes widened in more worry.
“MK… that doesn’t reassure me at all.” Julia said sadly before placing a hand on MK’s shoulder, “You know you can talk to me. I know I’m not the most emotionally mature person on the planet, but I’ll still be here for you.”
MK smiled as tears streamed down her eyes before embracing Julia, “Okay. If you’re ready to listen, I’m ready to talk about it.”
“ I love your ability to be open with me. ”
It was Julia’s 23rd birthday.
Normally such a time would be happy for the blonde but right now, she was in her room mulling over the future. What would happen now that she’s getting older, would she slowly lose her beauty, become wrinkly, get gray hairs? She dreaded the thought.
“Julia, can I come in?” MK asked curiously as she slightly opened the door.
Julia nodded as MK entered their room.
“I didn’t expect you to be so forlorn. It’s your birthday after all.” MK admitted sheepishly.
“Yeah, another year older which means I’m closer than ever to losing my natural beauty. I don’t know what will happen to me when I’m older, MK? Beauty means a lot to me and if I’m not beautiful what am I?” Julia rambled anxiously.
“Look, I was always of the opinion that beauty is subjective and even then, you’ll still be the same person I fell in love with. Aging is natural Julia, but it’s not gonna change anything about you otherwise.” MK said calmly and sincerely.
“Yeah… I guess that makes sense. I still worry sometimes, y’know.” Juila sighed with a solemn smile.
“We all have an existential crisis every now and then.” MK smirked playfully before pulling Julia out of the bed and onto her feet, “Now come on. Let’s not waste your special day by getting all mopey about the future.”
Julia snickered before following MK, the future certainly scared Julia but one thing that helped her was the fact that she had her girlfriend by her side.
“ I love that we know in our hearts we belong together. ”
It was their eight-year anniversary of the day they first started going out. MK had made sure to pull out all the stops for their anniversary. She made sure to take Julia out to a good restaurant before taking her to the beach to watch the sunset. It was a bright orange sky as the sun shone bright and reflecting off the calm waters.
It was beautiful, just like her.
“I honestly can’t believe it’s been eight years.” Julia admitted fondly.
“To think, back then I was just some sneaky kleptomaniac with no friends.” MK chuckled nervously.
“Hey, you’re still a little sneaky sometimes and so am I.” Julia smirked at her girlfriend.
“Indeed we are.” MK sighed happily before reaching into her pocket and smiling when she felt the tiny box inside.
“Jules, I’m gonna be blunt. Before you came along, I was too full of myself for my own good and I just did what I wanted without a care in the world. Once you came along, I started to finally have something I swore I never needed but always wanted, a friend and later a lover. ” MK said happily, “I can’t imagine my life without you. And I know we’ve been talking about the future and I just know that my future would mean nothing without you in it.”
MK then reached into her pocket and then opened it showing a diamond ring inside much to Julia’s shock and elation.
“I was wondering if you actually want to get married.” MK smiled with a blush.
Julia smirked before taking out a tiny box out of her own pocket and opening it.
“I’m sure this answers your question.” Julia smiled with pure joy causing MK to gasp happily.
The two immediately closed their boxes and put them back in their pockets before embracing and smiling tearfully. There was no fanfare, there was no fireworks, it was just them.
And they loved it that way.

“…and those are all the reasons I’m in love with you.” MK smiled earnestly as she stood at the altar with her tux on, “I love everything about you Julia. There are so many things about you that I cannot possibly put into this vow for the sake of time constraints but that will always remain true to me. I want to spend the rest of my life with you and me against the world like it’s always been since the day we formed that alliance.”
MK took a breath, she was barely holding it together and for someone who was usually not so emotional, this was clearly a big deal for her. She stared at a touched Julia in her simple white dress, and found the courage to continue speaking.
“There are so many ways you made me feel loved without ever having to utter the words ‘I love you’ and I promise to always return the favor because I love you too.” MK finished her vow with a heartfelt smile.
MK looked towards the crowd and while it wasn’t the largest one, it was still full of the most important people in her life. Her brother seemed to be absolutely tearing up with joy, the few university friends they made were all looking at them happily, and finally even the contestants from the Total Drama Reboot were all smiling at the scene.
MK smiled at this before giving the microphone to Julia who smiled at her girlfriend before speaking.
“When I applied for Total Drama, I did it for the chance of fame and to win a million bucks. Instead, I met you, and while I admit our first meeting wasn’t pleasant, I ended up leaving with a newfound respect for you. In the second season, we became allies and practically ruled the game to the point where I ended up in the finals. While the loss stung at the time, I ended up gaining you out of it.” Julia said happily, “We’ve always seen the best and worst in each other and we never gave up on each other despite our flaws. For some odd reason, you’ve awoken this new feeling of love inside me and even if it sounds really sappy, I promise to cherish it forever.”
By the end of Julia’s vow, MK was tearing up a storm but she managed to keep it in, though she took some pride in the fact she wasn’t alone. Wayne and Raj were uncontrollably crying at their seats after all.
After Wayne and Raj kept themselves together, they were given the rings.
“It is time for the big question.” The officiant said happily, “Julia, with this ring, do you take MK as your lawfully wedded wife from this day forward.”
“I do.” Julia beamed excitedly.
“MK, with this ring, do you take Julia as your lawfully wedded wife-“ The officiant continued before MK spoke.
“Of course I do.” MK rolled her eyes with a smirk.
A few of the audience members snickered at MK’s interruption but MK couldn’t bring herself to care. All she cared about now was her soon to be wife.
“Then by the power vested in me, I am happy to declare you wife and wife. You may now kiss.” The officiant declared happily.
Among the cheers and applause, Julia immediately pulled MK and leaned down into a kiss for the first time as brides.
And MK couldn’t be happier.
