Walter couldn’t believe he’s been with hound for a year already. He needed to get them something but he didn’t know what. Nothing could top them rebuilding his guitar for him but hound was the kind of person who didn’t mind whatever they got as a gift. Walter thought for awhile and got an idea, what if he got them the books they’ve wanted for awhile? He’s heard them talk to an elder in the village about some books they’ve been dying to buy for ages now. Hound had written down the books they’ve wanted so he went searching for the notes.
He found the notes and neatly folded it to put in his pocket, he knew hound would’ve huffed if he just crumpled it. He grabbed his phone and keys and he was off.
He first went to the village, trying to make sure to avoid hound and went to the little shop. He asked the older gentleman if he had the books and he said no. Walter said thank you anyways and told him to have a good day, he now had to go find a bookstore. He’d probably find one on another planet so he decided to ask Tressa for some help, she knew more about books than he did anyways.
She showed up about a half an hour later and the two decided to go Psamathe.
“So what books are we looking for?” Walter gave her the list and she had a smirk on her face. “What?” Walter was confused but Tressa just giggled and said nothing.
They got to the bookstore and Tressa asked if he could get the two coffee while she looked for the books and he agreed. She went looking for the books while Walter tried to figure out the order.
“I got the books, did you order?” Walter nodded and gave her the coffee. “Perfect, thank you Walter!” “Don’t mention it, hey can you help me wrap everything?” Tressa’s face lit up, “of course! We can stop by my house before going back.”
The two finished their coffee and went back to Tressa’s place. Walter wrapped everything up for the most part, Tressa helped neaten everything up.
“Thanks again, I knew I could count on you for help.” Tressa just smiled and told him to have a good day. Walter got on the next drop ship Gaea, he was so excited to see hound’s reaction.
When he finally got home he put the books on the coffee table and waited for hound to get home. After another 15-20 minutes he heard the door open.
“Sorry mitt Walter, I just had a lot to do today..” Walter smiled and gave them a soft kiss on the cheek. “It’s fine love, but I have something for you..” Walter saw hound’s eyebrows raise and he smiled widely. Walter took hound’s hand and brought them to the living area. He handed them the small wrapped pile of books and told them to open it. Hound unwrapped the books and their eyes widened.
“Walter…! I-“ they were so excited they didn’t know what to say, they quickly put down the books, un clipped their respirator, and basically jumped at him to kiss him. The last time they did that was during the confession on their hunt.
When hound pulled back Walter spoke. “I can’t take the full credit, I got Tressa’s help when it came to actually getting the books and wrapping them. Hound let out a small laughed and kissed him again…gently this time.
“Thank you my love, happy anniversary…”
“Happy anniversary houndy.”
