Nico was freaking the hell out and wouldn't tell you why..You two decided to spend your time away from camp half-blood which would be when most would be going back to school,but you two were the children of Gods who prefer you learned under their ranks. That aside,You two decided to spend it in the underworld with Hades and Persephone. Nico started to get more anxious which was weird since this was his home..But most importantly,he started avoiding you.
With your freetime since Nico wasn't talking to you,Persephone and you would have tea! You never specifically talked to Hades unless it was a greeting since he was one of the big three,and there was just no need for you to talk to him. You and Persephone's tea time was going swimmingly when you heard Nico shout,
"Father!"
"τι?"
Hades answered,resting his cheek on the palm of his hand
Persephone smiled knowingly and gestured for you to go listen in what they were talking about,so you snuck from her tea room to the next room which was Hades' throne room.
"You gotta help!"
Nico cried,
You watched as Nico panicked and stood infront of his father's throne with something in his hands. It wasn't like Nico to be so..panicked..Sure he could get anxious,but not like this..
"I gotta help? Well,Nico,Sit down. Tell me what's the matter!"
Nico quickly sat on the floor infront of his father,his hands fidgeting with every move.
"Well I've fallen in love.."
"Love? Don't you hate the latter?"
Ah..So that explains it! The poor boy was in love!
But..with who? You watched as Hades' face turned from genuine concern for his son to intruigment with a smug grin.
"Well I thought that I did! But now it doesn't matter.."
Nico lowered his head in shame..Poor boy. You felt an immense guilt making it's way through your body. Love is always such a hard thing to deal with,especially when you're one of those people who absolutely despise love.
"I made this.."
He handed his father a flower crown full of dead leaves and petals that he had found from his step-mother's garden.
Wait a minute..
Didn't you two just make flower crowns the other day? Hold up..
"This?"
"This."
Hades inspected the flower crown that was now in his hands,a puzzled look on his face. Never was his son one to make flower crowns of all things..But he was far too intrigued to question it.
"And who'd you fall for?"
"Him.."
"Him?"
"Him.."
Silence rang throughout the whole throne room,you heard shuffling behind you which turned out to be Persephone. You both watched the fiasco go down as Persephone looked down at you..It was like she was trying to tell you something,but Hades beat her to it.
"Wait..[Name]?"
"Yes.."
You stopped breathing for what felt like forever,but what was only a few moments. Nico,Your best friend for the Gods know how long,had fallen in love with you..
You tried to leave to gather your thoughts,but Persephone held you right to your spot,it was like glue that Zeus had formed. You knew she didn't mean any harm,maybe you needed to hear what was next to give you some peace of mind..
"Oh jeez.."
Hades' head fell back in both disappointment and frustration. How could his son,one of his most intelligent and most strongest,fall in love with his best friend? Hades had no problem with you,none at all..He just worried for his son's heart. Could Nico take it if you didn't want to be with him? That was something Hades himself couldn't answer.
"Nico,You're screwed!"
"I know! I know I'm screwed!"
Nico quickly got up and so did Hades. They were looking each other dead in the eye,tears falling from Nico's and frustration evident in Hades'.
"Nico,What did you do?!"
"Please! I'll take anything from you!"
Hades' gaze softened as he heard Nico's words. It was hard for a father to hear his own child with that much desperation in their voice. Even if Hades was a God,one of the main ones and the strongest,He crumpled at the sight of his son crying and begging.
"I'm not making any promise that I can't promise..that I can keep. I'll see what I can do.."
Nico's tears stopped for a moment,his heart felt less heavy. He didn't feel like the same little boy he was when Bianca passed,He had a glimmer of hope that was burnt out with Hades' next words..
"..But Nico,I expect better from you.."
This time,Nico was able to control his tears. He wouldn't cry so easily again,He didn't necessarily like crying much anyways.
You and Persephone were still there,an unknown audience to the "fight",if you could even call it that. Your heart was breaking,You didn't like seeing Nico so vulnerable..Yet,You didn't know how you felt about the boy who grazed death a many of times.
"I know..I promise I won't be like the others,competing with one and other..They like to drive those they love mad..They don't understand what they have.."
"But I do..atleast now..I do.."
You felt yourself gently smiling against your will at his words. He was such a cold person to everyone,including some of his friends,yet..he allowed himself to be warm and vulnerable with you..
That's why you loved him..
You knew it in your heart that you loved him. You felt Persephone's hand pat you on your shoulder at your little victory,your little way of seeing just how much Nico loved you.
"I'll take anything from you.."
Hades was impressed..Nobody,none of his sons,had expressed such love and such feeling about a person,yet..Nico,A closed off and grim boy who'd rather die than express how he feels about some people,just did it right infront of him..To his face..He had no fear and no hesitation to look the God of death himself in the eye as he expressed his love for you. Hades smiled in admiration and put his hand on Nico's shoulder.
"Don't,Get your hopes up."
Nico nodded once and firmly,Though he hesitated nodding a bunch of times to get it through that he was eternally grateful for his blessing and his help. Then,you heard clapping behind you..
Dammit Persephone!
She was blowing your cover,Yet..you seemed not to care. She had tears in her eyes as she looked at the both of them.
"That..was so beautiful.."
Persephone ran to Hades and hugged him,the two just smiling and basking in each other's company. You got up and were looking at the couple,and then you averted your gaze to Nico,who was shocked and shaking slightly.
"[Name]-"
"Get over here death boy."
You took Nico by surprise by walking up to him and kissing him. Well..It wasn't just a kiss,it was quite a passionate one where you managed to pick him up for a few seconds before putting him down and kissing his cheek.
"Let's go to the garden,I don't think I ever got to make you a flower crown."
Nico just nodded and walked with you to Persephone's garden,leaving behind a smirking Persephone and Hades.
"You think we did a good job?"
Persephone questioned,
"My darling,I think they did a good job."
Hades answered,Kissing his wife one more time before they both sat in their thrones awaiting to hear your's and Nico's laughter.
