Work Text:
Atsumu has had enough. Sakusa and Yahaba need to get together. And they will, even if it’s the last thing Atsumu does. He can not stand the pining from afar anymore, and if Sakusa comes to him one more time gushing over Yahaba someone is going to get hurt, and it just might be Samu.
“Tsu I really think you are overreacting, it honestly isn’t as bad as you are making it out to be,” Kyōtani had enough of Atsumu ranting about Sakusa and Yahaba being ‘adorable and idiotic pining assholes,’ to put it in his words. Honestly, if anyone was adorable and idiotic it was Atsumu.
“But Tani you don’t understand!! Omi literally tells me how much he loves Shig and his dimples on a daily basis!!” Atsumu whined laying on top of Kyōtani’s legs in the process. “And aren’t you tired of Shig coming to you about Omi? You have to help me!! Don’t you love me?” Atsumu continued whining at Kyōtani.
“Tsu, there’s no way you are gaslighting me right now, can you just slow down for a second? And stop being so hypocritical, we were just as bad,”Kyōtani said, looking down at Atsumu in his lap. Now, Kyōtani wasn’t saying that Atsumu was wrong, he too hated how often Yahaba would come to him and rant about Sakusa and ‘how adorable his moles were.’ “Now would you just get up Tsu and stop moving? My arms are getting cold.”
Atsumu was going to get them together. He didn’t care who he had to rope into his plan, he was going to get his way no matter what. And if getting his way involved him enlisting the help of some of his friends, then so be it.
Atsumu decided that he needed some of his friends on Aoba Johsai for his plan to work, and if he also decided to drag Komori into this it was no one's business, he would just say that he needed extra help with something and they would just have to deal with that explanation.
“So why did you call us here?” asked Iwazumi. He was as confused as to why Atsumu asked half of his team here with no other explanation than ‘he needed help dealing with some idiots’ which wasn’t much of an explanation on its own.
“Yeah, Mu I don’t really know the whole purpose of you making us come all the way to your house when you know how far away Miyagi is, no offense by the way!” Oikawa said the last part with a cheeky smile, one which was met with the ‘are you serious’ faces of his own teammates.
“Kawa, just because you say no offense, doesn’t make it any less rude, now apologize to Astumu,” said Iwazumi after hitting the back of Oikawa’s head.
“That hurts Iwa-chan! You’re so mean to me! I’m sorry, okay!” responded Oikawa.
“Please go on, Atsumu,” Iwazumi said with a kind smile toward the other boy.
“Anyways, I brought you all here because we need to get Omi and Shig together. They are insufferable and I choose to suffer no longer!” Atsumu told them all matter-of-a-factly.
“Oh my god, you see it too?! They are totally and utterly insufferable, I die inside every time I see them interact!” Oikawa responded dramatically.
“Now Kawa I don’t think it’s that bad–” Iwazumi started.
“Finally! Someone who understands! Tani was telling me how dramatic I was being!” Atsumu responds, effectively cutting Iwazumi off.
“I’m with Iwazumi, I honestly don’t think it’s that bad. I mean, it might be a little embarrassing watching them from afar, but I don’t think it is as bad as you are making it out to be, in all honesty,” Watari finally piped up from where he was standing next to Komori.
“I’m with Tsumu and Oikawa, in all honesty. Watching my cousin swoon and fawn over Yahaba is the most terrorizing thing ever! I swear it’s like he only wants to talk about Yahaba! I swear, I can’t do this anymore!” Komori whined from his position standing next to Watari.
“Thank you! Now listen to me, we need to get them together as soon as possible!” said Atsumu excitedly, “Okay so here’s what’s going to happen….”
“So how is this going to work exactly?” questioned Sakusa.
“Don’t worry about it, Omi! It works, and that’s all you need to know!” Atsumu said cheekily.
“No, but really? Three teams together for a practice match? How does that work?” Sakusa asked Atsumu, again.
“Have you never heard of switching off, Omi? Two of us go against each other and then the winner plays against the other team, duh! You’re so silly, Omi!” Atsumu said all of this with a huge smile on his face, never faulting for a second.
When they finally got there they could see the Aoba Johsai team members standing outside their gym doors. When they stepped off the bus Yahaba immediately went over to Sakusa. You could see the telling smiles from all three of the teams, the two boys both oblivious to the world, only focused on each other.
They had played about two or three matches when Atsumu decided it was time to put his plan into action.
“Hey, Omi and Shig! Can you guys please go refill the water coolers? Thanky!” Atsumu said with a cheeky smile and a wink.
“Why do we have to? It takes more than two people and plus shouldn’t someone from your team come help as well?” questioned Sakusa.
“Cause we have won most of the games, duh! And don’t you want to spend time with Shig? Are you so mean Omi that you don’t want to be one on one with Shig? Atsumu threw the question back with another smirk.
“Yeah Kiyo, do you not want to spend time with me? You hurt my feelings,” Yahaba said this with a playful smile.
“I don’t know why you guys are ganging up on me right now, but I never said that! I would love, more than anything, to spend time with Yaba!” Sakusa fired back at the two. He froze once he realized what he had said and continued with, “That came out wrong-”
“What? You mean you don’t want to spend time alone with me, Kiyo? Don’t give a girl mixed signals,” Yahaba said with a cheeky look on her face.
“No, I didn’t mean that, stop putting words in my mouth!” Sakusa said, they were both getting on his nerves. It loved Yahaba more than anything, and them insinuating that it was anything but was absolutely outrageous.
“What did you say?” Yahaba questioned Sakusa.
“Did I say that out loud..?” muttered Sakusa.
“Yes you did, and I just wanna say that it is totally reciprocated,” said Yahaba with a small smile.
In the background, you could hear Atsumu yelling something that sounded like a yes.
And if a few months later saw Atsumu, Sakusa, Yahaba, and Kyōtani together it was no one else’s business.
“Guys, get over here! The movie is about the starttttt!” Atsumu whined from their place in Kyōtani’s arms.
“Tsu, calm down, they are doing their hair. We don’t have hair like them so we don’t know how long it takes,” Kyōtani said calmly, rubbing circles on Atsumu’s back.
“We are coming!!! Kiyo, come on! We don’t want to miss the movie!”
In walked Yahaba and Sakusa, Sakusa with rollers in its hair and Yahaba with a bonnet on his head.
“Come on guys! I want to start the movie!” Atsumu said excitedly.
And the rest was history.
