Clone CX-2’s one failure?

The assassin was spluttering and splashing the water around him while dragging himself onto the shore. The drop having been a deep dive for sure, but neither tons of mortar and brick nor soaring waters held back the Empire’s great creation. The near death situation hardly deterring the resolve of the shadow.

No, CX-2 was on a mission. Something yet to be completed.

Taking his helmet off, the thing eliciting a soft hiss as it depressurised. The all too familiar face coming to view. But in the darkness of the waterfalls there were no curious eyes to observe his actions nor to scrutinise the removal of his headgear. S

Catching a breath, breathing in the fresh air, CX-2 quickly recovered from almost being drowned making a quick visual scan of the vicinity. It was odd to see the surroundings through his own eyes, but sometimes, it felt simply good to have the helmet off. Sometimes.

As CX-2 observed further, he witnessed the very ending of an exchange between the imperial troopers and the rogue clones. What CX-2 also could see and rather clearly at that was something unexpected. The Commander in charge of the operation letting the traitors leave at their own accord. And the lot of them going off with CX-2’s target no less!

Kriffing sithspit of a hellspell!

The internal cursing for nobody else to hear, but clearly present there, deep inside of his private thoughts just the same.

This, operation having hardly gone according to plan. Then again, CX-2 had been summoned because of the failure of another. Someone from his unit which wasn’t good at all. But hadn’t been CX-2’s mistake nor loss. Still, the sting was felt deep inside.

As this one, certainly was. A totally failed mission.

“Damn you Crosshair!”

The shadow cried. This time out loudly for anyone there to hear just as the rebel ship took off. CX-2’s voice echoing across the barren rocks without no one else there to hear CX-2 venting out his frustration, the waters covering all the noises made. The next words were added as an almost after thought, a soft whisper.

“You could have been one of us.”
