36 Questions

Summary:

After discovering that his boyfriend had been lying and was actually Touya Todoroki, Keigo Takami fled far away, feeling betrayed and lied to. Dabi follows and attempts to rekindle their love.

This is literally just the plot of 36 questions but Judith and Jase are replaced by Hawks and Dabi (it’s not plagiarism if I credit it lol). You don’t have to know the podcast to understand and enjoy it.

Chapter 1: Hear Me Out

Chapter Text

“Keigo? …Keigo, I can hear you on the other side of the door. You might as well just open it.” Touya said, frustration present in his voice. No response came. Touya sighed, knowing that all of this might have been a pointless endeavor. Ha, get it? Endeavor. Slightly annoyed by his accidental joke in his thoughts, Touya reached into his pocket and pulled out a letter.

“I’m slipping something through the mail slot, cool? Let me know when you’ve opened it.” He slid the letter through the mail slot and leaned his back against the door, hoping to hear Keigo opening it. Unfortunately, the door was too thick to hear any quiet sounds, so he sank to a seated position for more comfort.

Resigned to waiting, Touya stayed still for about two seconds until he started to be bitten by mosquitos. After an unsuccessful attempt to kill them, he turned back to the door.

“Okay. Well, I guess there’s two options. Either you're my boyfriend, Keigo Takami, also known as pro-hero Hawks, or you’re a stranger in his childhood home. In either event, it'd be REALLY cool of you to OPEN THE DOOR. Also I have to pee, so..” Touya waited for a response, to no avail. “Okay. I’ll play your game. I’m not me, you’re not you. Well, whoever you are, you share a lot in common with my boyfriend Keigo.”

Listening carefully, Touya heard movement behind the door, but Keigo still refused to respond.

“I drove like 27 hours to get here, and as Keigo can attest to, I have awful motion sickness so that fucking sucked. If you were him, you’d open the door. I know you’re listening.” Touya paused, unsure of what to say. He thought back through their last conversation, how angry Keigo was and how he claimed that he didn’t know Touya at all. “You deserve to get to know the person you’re trying to let go. I know you care.” Touya paused, taking a deep breath before continuing.

“You have a thousand reasons not to trust me. I know that. For whatever it's worth, I also have no clue as to who I actually am.” He heard movement behind the door again. Hands slightly shaking, he continued, “This is the first time in my life that I’m sure about something. It took me days to get here, I even had to replace two tires during a storm. But the whole time I knew, I had to do this. I had to try. And I won’t leave until you open the door. Please, hear me out.”

The door opened to a haggled looking Keigo. He glared at Touya. “I’m only letting you in so you don’t get eaten alive by mosquitos.”

Touya brightened. “Keigo! Hi.” He mentally facepalmed, for that fact that he was lost for words at the mere sight of Keigo, who he hadn’t seen in weeks. Who knew that being without the love of your life could reduce you to stupidity. Even clearly beleaguered and exhausted, Keigo was still a sight for sore eyes. Touya was hit with a wave of worry for Keigo’s well-being, as he definitely looked worse for wear, with dark circles under his eyes and messy hair. He wasn’t able to analyze Keigo’s appearance for long though, as Keigo promptly turned around and walked into the house.
