Chapter Text
Jaiden didn't know what to expect when she was invited to live in Roier's home. She remembers the first day as clear as air. When Roier added her to the allow list.
“Now you can enter to my home… to our home,”
Our home. He was so quick to accept her into his house, and it was a nice house. A three story quaint home with an underground crop farm and storage. The top floor was reserved for Bobby, while the middle floor was reserved for whatever animals and trinkets he may collect.
The first floor had the kitchen, the dining table, a few chests for storage and the only other bed besides Bobby's own.
It was a queen size, a bit too large for just her, but perfect for Roier's big personality. But once it was time to go to bed that day, the queen bed suddenly became hers.
“It's fine!” She remembers him saying “I can sleep on the couch in Bobby's room. You can sleep on the bed no worries!”
Jaiden wanted to protest, but she didn't want to go against his wishes. He may insist otherwise, but in her head, this house is his and Bobby's.
But now a couple of weeks had already passed, she had now become fully acquainted with the house and had become a lot closer to her partner.
But she is still sleeping in his bed and he is still sleeping on the couch.
Sleeping on the couch must not be very comfortable. She noticed how stiff and tired he's been the last couple of days, and despite all that, he still gladly spends what little energy he has on being the best father and partner he can be.
He spends so much time playing and adventuring with Bobby, and has no problem giving her his hard earned materials and resources for free.
He's giving her a free space in his home, his bed, his resources, his energy and his time to her. He's basically giving her all of him and she has nothing to give back.
Not today.
She stood at the front door, hispanic music playing softly and the smell of dinner reached her nostrils as she was mentally preparing herself to be assertive for a second time in their relationship. The first time being when Roier took his “vacation”
She is going to tell him to swap places with her tonight.
It's been long enough, right? Roier should be sleeping in his own bed in his own house. He'd surely see where she's coming from.
She opened the door and was happily greeted by Roier who was making the final dinner preparations “Jaiden! Ven pasa! Sit down.” He waved towards the table, there sat Bobby, who looked up from his Spider-Man comic to smile and wave at her. “We're having green spinach enchiladas today” Roier walked back to the stove and grabbed a few plates.
Green spinach enchiladas.
Her favorite.
She sat at the table to Bobby's left. As she sat, Roier approached the table with two plates with three delicious enchiladas with rice and beans on the sides. She watched as he placed one plate in front of Bobby and gave him a big kiss on his forehead.
“Para ti, mi Bolbis,” He cooed, ruffling his hair as the dragon hybrid hissed and hid under the table. Bobby will never admit it, but he loves his kisses.
“And for you, Jaiden,” Roier placed the remaining plate in front of her and planted a soft kiss on her scalp. He then returned to the remaining enchiladas to serve himself a plate. He was serving himself last.
She had already gotten used to Roier's physical form of affection. His hugs and kisses will never, ever be unwelcome to her. She loves the way he loves.
She also witnessed Bobby come back from underneath the table with three cans of diet Pepsi, and placed one in front of her plate. Bobby's creativity amazes her.
Roier sat down on the chair across from hers, Bobby having placed another can in front of his plate “Aw, you don't have to wait for me,” He smiled “Eat. Come. Yo creo que me salieron buenísimas!” He said kissing his fingers as he did whenever he was in his “Chefoier” persona
Jaiden took her fork and took a piece of enchilada into her mouth. He was right. It's delicious.
“This is really good, Roier! You killed it,” Bobby nodded in agreement, mouth already stuffed with rice and beans. Roier fist pumped, having congratulated himself on another dinner well done.
Well. It's now or never.
“Hey Roier”
Roier looked up from his dinner, mouth full “Erm- Vhat-” He paused to swallow “Si?” he responded.
Jaiden gulped. Why was she so nervous? “I want you to sleep on your bed from now on. It's been long enough, I think it's time I take the couch, right?”
Roier gave her a somewhat apprehensive look “No no. It's fine, Jaiden. You can keep the bed,” He smiled. That same smile he gave her that first night. He's too sweet
“But this is your house.” She pointed out “You should be sleeping on your own bed,” She won't let him sweet his way out of this.
“This is our house.” He corrected her “and I don't want you to sleep on the couch, men. Esta bien. You sleep on the bed,”
“Roier please. That couch can't be that comfortable,” As to why it isn't, hasn't crossed her mind yet “I've noticed how tired you are. You need to sleep on an actual bed,”
Roier looked down on his plate “The problem is not the couch…” he mumbled “It’s…”
She waited for him to finish. That never came unfortunately, as Bobby faked coughed and caught both of their attention. He was holding his tablet up.
[Y xk no la comparten??]
Jaiden has a very limited literacy understanding of the Spanish language, but even she knew what “comparten” meant.
Share. He was suggesting they just share the bed.
She glanced at Roier, who was looking at the sign with an unreadable expression on his face. She doesn't even remember the last time she shared a bed with someone. She doubts she even shared a bed with anyone at all. So while the idea of sharing a bed would probably make her uneasy, this time, it didn't.
Because it was him.
“I mean.” She began, looking away from him “If Roier is fine with it-”
“Yes!” She was suddenly interrupted by the man across from her. Roier coughed into his hand and scratched the back of his neck.
“I mean. Yes I'm fine with it,” He half mumbled while using his fork to take another bite.
Jaiden chuckled “Then I'm fine with it too,”
Silence took over. Silence and the soft scratches of a tablet being tapped on. Bobby flipped the tablet over so his parents could read it.
[chido]
She asked Roier to translate.
-----
Jaiden's pajamas weren't anything special, just some blue shorts, a large purple shirt and white slippers for walking around. She glanced at Roier beside her, who was wearing an outfit similar to hers. Black shorts, an old white shirt and… what did he call them? Chanclas! Right.
She knows Roier sleeps shirtless, but given the current circumstances, she understands why he chose to wear a shirt this time around.
They both stood in front of the bed. A bed with two medium blankets, two pillows and a wall of smaller pillows right down the middle.
The pillows were Roier's idea. He suggested using them, as small as they are, and she agreed. She didn't want to make him uncomfortable.
“Bueno.” Roier turned to her “Erm. Which uhh. Which side do you want to sleep on?”
“Oh! Well I was thinking I should sleep against the wall?” She sheepishly answered “You wake up earlier than I do,”
“Yes. That's a good idea” He replied “Bueno, A dormir, no?”
“Yea. Let's go to sleep”
—---
Jaiden awoke from a dreamless, yet comfortable sleep.
The previous night had been a little awkward, a mumbled “good night” was all they said before laying in bed facing away from each other. But his presence, knowing he was laying beside her was strangely comforting.
She didn't know what to expect when waking up. For one, she was not expecting Roier to still be asleep, but she should've seen it coming. After all those nights sleeping on a couch, sleeping on a bed must've been exactly what he needed.
And secondly her hand somehow found its way onto his chest.
She gently removed her hand. That's strange, she could've sworn she was a still sleeper, but then again she was never conscious about her position in bed when waking up
She paused, looking at the man besides her for a moment who was still asleep. Awkwardly, she climbed out of her position against the wall avoiding disturbing him as much as possible. She should let him sleep for a few more minutes while she goes ahead and wakes up Bobby.
She put on her favorite slippers and walked up stairs to his room. She softly tip-toed and knelt down beside his bed. As she was about to wake him up, she paused to admire how adorable her son looked at the moment.
She has no idea who or what did it, maybe it was the same dragon magic that allowed some of the other children and him to occasionally fly and somehow materialize random objects, but it was incredible how much Bobby looked like both his parents.
Most of the other children on the island were no different. From Chayanne being blonde and Tallulah having black hair, JuanaFlippa needing glasses just like her dads, Leo having these striking green and purple eyes, Ramon who had Spreens hair and Fits face, and both Tilín and Dapper look like a mini Quackity and BadBoyHalo respectively
Even Trumpet who despite having only met Dan for only a day, still had his blue hair.
But Bobby was almost shocking.
Jaiden knew she and Roier already shared many features, such as their similar chin and mouth structures, so Bobby was almost an exact replica of both of them.
From her eyes and hair to Roier's eyebrows and nose, she supposed that if she were to have a son with Roier (Which will never happen) Bobby would be exactly it.
She softly giggled, and gently called out his name. He roused slightly, his eyes slowly opening, as he looked to her. She leaned over, and softly brushed his hair out of his face. "Time to get up, mijo," she whispered, softly scratching his scalp.
She had learned that word from Roier, who told her it was short for “mi hijo” which translated to “my son” in English. It was such a sweet, adorable little word, just like Bobby.
The dragon hybrid yawned and sluggishly rubbed his eyes. His hair fluffed up in different directions. It must be a crime to wake up that cute.
“Ohh, good morning, Bobby!” She planted a kiss on his forehead “I'll make breakfast, make sure you wash your face before coming downstairs, alright?”
Bobby nodded and grabbed his tablet. His tablet was given to him at the adoption center, and unlike most of the children who were later given custom cases for theirs, Bobby kept his the same oak wood color he always had.
[Morning ma. How was sleeping with mi apa??]
She thought about it for a moment “It went well! More comfortable than I thought,” It really was, she wasn't expecting that at all.
Bobby gave her a thumbs up as he went through his clothes drawer looking for his overalls and a headband.
Jaiden went back downstairs. Maybe she'll make some eggs and toast for breakfast today. Bobby should get all the proteins a growing boy could need.
She reached the bottom floor just in time to see Roier awake, yawning and stretching his arms wide.
“Oh. Good morning, Roier!” She greeted him warmly.
Roier looked surprised for a second, almost as if he forgot he slept in the bed downstairs, but almost immediately returned the same warmth “Buenos dias, Jaiden. ¿Cómo amaneciste?”
She approached the chests next to the stove. A quick glance to the translator told her what she needed to know “Pretty good. How about you? You look well rested” She said while reaching inside the chest looking for a pan, a couple of eggs and some pork chops.
“Yeah… I feel good actually!” Roier happily remarked. He looked a lot brighter than he did these past few mornings.
“See? I told you sleeping on a bed would help!” She remarked while placing the frying pan on the stove top.
“Yeah… the bed…” She heard him mumble as she crouched down to light a flame inside the stove.
“I'm making breakfast today. Do eggs and pork chops sound good to you?” She asked him.
“Hm? Oh yes that sounds fine.” Roier replied as he slipped on his chanclas “You don't need help? Because-”
“I'm good.” She quickly interrupted him, cracking an egg over the pan, letting it fry as she grabbed another “I got this. It won't be like last time. I learned my lesson,”
Roier chuckled as he looked in the chest underneath the stairs, likely looking for some plates and utensils “Okay. I trust you, Jaiden,”
Jaiden smiled.
“Hey have you seen the-” Her question was interrupted by Roier, who approached her from behind and placed a spatula on the table beside her. He gave her a smug look.
“Aha, thank you Roier,” She chuckled and planted a quick kiss on his cheek.
“De nada, Jaiden,”
