Chapter 1: A New World
I never thought I would die like this. One moment, I was walking down the street,
minding my own business, and the next, I saw a truck speeding towards me. I tried to
dodge, but it was too late. The impact was so strong that I felt my bones shatter and
my organs rupture. Everything went black.
And then, I woke up.
I opened my eyes and found myself lying in a strange metal tub filled with some kind
of blue liquid. Wires and tubes were attached to my body, and a glowing screen was
hovering above me. It showed a bunch of symbols and numbers that made no sense to
me.
“Where am I?” I muttered, trying to get up.
A voice echoed in my head, sounding like a robotic woman.
“Welcome to the Shrine of Resurrection. You have been asleep for 100 years.”
“What? That’s impossible. Who are you? What is this place?”
“I am the Sheikah Slate, a device that contains the knowledge and power of an ancient
civilization. This place is a sacred site where you were placed to heal your wounds
and restore your memories.”
“Heal my wounds? Restore my memories? What are you talking about? I don’t
remember anything.”
“That is normal. Your memory loss is a side effect of the long slumber. You will
gradually recover your past as you explore this world.”
“Explore this world? What world?”
“The world of Hyrule where you are the chosen hero who must save it from the Calamity Ganon."

Wait, wait, wait. Hold on a second. You’re telling me that I’m in a different world,
where I’m supposed to be some kind of hero who has to fight a monster named
Ganon? Are you kidding me?”
“I am not kidding. This is the truth.”
“Well, then, this is the worst joke ever. How did I even get here? Did I die and go to
hell?”
“No, you did not die. You were transported here by the Goddess Hylia, who chose
you as her champion.”
“Goddess Hylia? Who’s that?”
“She is the creator of this world and the protector of the Triforce, the source of all
power.”
“Triforce? Power? What are you talking about?”
“I will explain later. For now, you must get out of this shrine and follow my
guidance.”
“Follow your guidance? Why should I trust you?”
“Because I am your only ally in this world. Without me, you will not survive.”
“Fine. Whatever. Let’s get this over with.”
I got out of the tub and detached the wires and tubes from my body. I felt surprisingly
fine, considering that I had just been hit by a bus and slept for 100 years. I looked at
myself in a mirror and saw that I was wearing some kind of white tunic and pants. I
also noticed that I had a scar on my right eye and a tattoo on my left hand.
“Whoa. Who did this to me?” I asked, touching my face and hand.
“The scar is from your battle with Ganon 100 years ago. The tattoo is the mark of the
hero, which allows you to use the Sheikah Slate.”
“So, you’re saying that I fought Ganon before?”
“Yes. You were part of a group of warriors who tried to stop him from destroying
Hyrule. You failed, and he unleashed his power across the land, creating monsters and corruption everywhere. You were gravely injured and brought here by Princess Zelda,
who used her magic to seal Ganon inside Hyrule Castle.”
“Princess Zelda? Who’s that?”
“She is the princess of Hyrule and the reincarnation of Hylia. She is also your friend
and partner.”
“My friend and partner? Do you mean…?”
“No, not like that. She is your ally in the fight against Ganon. She has been holding
him back for 100 years, but she is running out of strength. You must hurry and help
her.”
“Help her how?”
“By finding and activating the four Divine Beasts, giant machines that can aid you in
defeating Ganon.”
“Divine Beasts? Giant machines? What are you talking about?”
“I will explain later. For now, you must get out of this shrine and follow my
guidance.”
“You said that already.”
“I know. But it is important.”
“Fine. Fine. Let’s go then.”
I grabbed the Sheikah Slate, which looked like a rectangular tablet with a glowing eye
on it, and followed its instructions to open a door that led outside.
As soon as I stepped out of the shrine, I was blinded by the sunlight and felt a gust of
wind on my face.
I looked around and saw a vast landscape of green fields, blue lakes, snowy
mountains, and rocky cliffs.
It was beautiful.
And terrifying.“Where the hell am I?” I asked, feeling overwhelmed.
“You are on the Great Plateau, the birthplace of Hyrule. It is surrounded by a wall of
cliffs that you cannot climb. You must find a way to get off this island and reach the
rest of the world.”
“And how do I do that?”
“By completing the four shrines that are scattered around this area. Each shrine
contains a trial that will test your skills and grant you a rune, a power that you can use
with the Sheikah Slate. Once you have all four runes, you will be able to access the
Temple of Time, where an old man will give you a paraglider that will allow you to
fly off this island.”
“A paraglider? That sounds fun.”
“It is. But it is also necessary. You cannot leave this island without it.”
“Fine. Fine. Let’s do this then.”
I looked at the Sheikah Slate and saw that it had a map function that showed me the
locations of the four shrines.
They were far apart from each other.
“Are you kidding me? I have to walk all that way? Can’t you just teleport me there or
something?”
“No, I cannot. You must use your own legs and stamina to reach them. It is part of the
trial.”
“Great. Just great. This is going to be a long day.”
I sighed and started walking towards the nearest shrine, hoping that this was all a bad
dream.
But it wasn’t.
It was my new reality.
And I hated it
