Work Text:

The storm had raged on outside, the sound of rain thumping softly against the window in Clumby's office. Clumby herself sat there in her chair, files and newspapers littering the floor and desk in front of her. Her reporter hat layed on the coat rack beside her office door.

It had been a bit since anything had happened and it had been weeks since she'd gotten a call from her boss or from any reporters about something interesting. The bland, bleak day seemed to get worse as she tapped her claws against her hardwood desk. A pen in her other paw as she stared down at a white sheet of paper. She'd been meaning to write something, but it slipped her mind everytime she actually thought about it.

"... Dammit" Clumby sighed, roughly shoving her glasses up on her forehead to rub the bridge of her snout. Grump what has gotten into her lately, it was so unlike her to just... Forget something like this! She cursed under her breath as she dropped the pen on the paper, wanting to give up at this point. She'd barely been able to sleep for weeks, perhaps that's what's causing her to forget so much...

"Grumpin- I'm too old for this shit..." She muttered to herself, pushing the papers away harshly causing some files to be thrown from her desk. She was tired, confused, and down right pissed. Kicking her chair and herself away from her desk, she turned her chair around to look around. Still as bleak as always, and even darker as the storm seemed to get harsher and harsher by the minute.

She stood up and growled, harshly grabbing the curtains to the window and closing them as to not see or hear the harsh weather. While she could still hear it, she couldn't see it so she'd supposed it was better. Turning the lamp on beside her desk, she sat back down. Noticing the photo that usually sat up right, now facing down because of her aggressive behavior she sighed softly and picked it up.

In the picture sat a blond grumpus. Her curly hair framing her face, her blue eyes staring at the grumpus who'd taken the picture with adoration and pure love. The sweater she'd worn that day, like many other days, clean and tidied up. A smile framing her face as she held her paw up to wave at the camera grump, which was of course Clumby.

Clumby gently rubbed her paw against the photo, holding up her face with her other paw as she stared at the photo. It had been awhile since she'd last seen her lover, since she'd last seen that beautiful smile that always seemed to grace her lips whenever she saw Clumby. Grump had she missed that face.... Maybe she should call her. Maybe not she could be busy, but what if-

The sound of the door opening caused her to stop thinking and deciding, now looking up at the now opened office door. Speak of the devil.

Bluey sighed and closed the door behind, a closed umbrella in paw as she looked over at Clumby and smiled. Her sweater a bit soaked from the rain outside the GNN station. She sat the umbrella down beside the door and shook herself like a dog. Getting water on the carpet and papers on the floor.

"Watch where you're swingin' that water!" Clumby exclaimed, feeling some of the water bluey had shook off get on her fur and glasses.

"Sorry!" Bluey muttered out, wiping her sweater down before running over to Clumby. Stepping over a huge pile of paper and files before reaching behind her desk. Now in arms reach, she wrapped her arms around Clumby's neck and gave her a kiss on the cheek. Soft purrs escaping from her as her tail wagged happily and a huge smile grew across her face, something clumby had missed in their time apart.

The corner of Clumby's lips perked up in a small smile, rolling her eyes as she felt Bluey kiss her face over and over. "Okay okay, I get it you're sorry-" Clumby said, wrapping her paw and arm around Bluey's waist. Feeling the soft sweater against her paw pad, she gave bluey a soft pat on the back.

"I missed you soooo much, I'm sorry I didn't visit for a bit. My boss made me go to another building to 'evaluate and check up on their research'. Which in his terms, find something wrong and report it." Bluey hummed and shrugged, pulling back a bit to stare down at her beloved partner. Clumby smiled still, her eyes never leaving the blond grumpus's for a second. But hearing her reasoning made her roll her eyes a bit, she'd never really liked Bluey's boss. Especially with his criminal track record, but as bluey said so many times before, it makes her money.

"It's fine," Clumby answered, arm still wrapped around bluey's waist to keep her secured and close. "But a grumpin' letter or call would've been better than you disappearing for days on end." She told bluey, scrunching her snout up a bit at remembering how she'd spent days alone without bluey by her side. While of course they'd both have their alone time, sometimes she missed Bluey's clingy attitude and affection.

"I know and I'm sorry, I should've told you beforepaw. That's my fault. If Mr. Basshang tried anything like that again I'll inform you... Okay Misses boss lady?" Bluey snickered a bit and stuck her tongue out at Clumby, her tail brushing against Clumby's paw from time to time with how much it had been wagging.

Clumby rolled her eyes once more, pulling her paw away from her waist. "Very funny." She sarcastically stated, arms crossed as she furrows her eyebrows. "I'm being serious."

"I know I know, I'm sorry I'll take it more seriously." Bluey looked away and rubbed the back of her head, cheeks getting flushed a bit. Causing clumby to shake her head before sighing and looking over at her clock on her desk.

"Come on, let's go home." She told Bluey, grabbing her essential belongings from her desk and the floor. Bluey followed suit, grabbing the bag she'd dropped that Clumby had yet to notice and the umbrella from earlier. "All set!" Bluey informed Clumby, holding the umbrella like it was a cane. Clumby turned around with her hat now placed on her head, before nodding and walking over to Bluey.

Bluey opened the door and let clumby go out first before closing the door behind them both, with Clumby locking the door. "You ready?" She'd asked bluey, eyebrow raised. Bluey nodded her head and put a thumbs up, grabbing Clumby's paw with her own.

"Indeed I am, let's go shall we?" Bluey asked, smiling widely at Clumby. Causing her to smile back as she nodded her head as an answer. "Yeah, we shall."
