Work Text:
It was a peaceful day.
The Pizzaplex was closed for the weekend, and all was quiet throughout the building.
Skylar was enjoying it, leisurely walking through the atrium at a nice pace.
It was her special day. Her birthday.
The family should've been hanging out with her and doing something fun together, like most people would want for their birthday...
But not Skylar.
She preferred not getting anymore attention on her birthday than she did on normal days, finding it really uncomfortable to have that much attention on only her.
She was thankful her family respected that decision. All she needed was a 'happy birthday' through texts or words and she would be happy.
As she turned her head to look out across the atrium from the mezzanine, her ears perked at the sound of familiar footsteps coming up behind her.
Orange arms wrapped around her from behind, pulling her in for a gentle, but warm, hug.
She smiled, tail wagging softly as she turned around to properly return the hug. "Hi, Dad." She murmured, closing her eyes in content.
Freddy hummed softly, giving her a light squeeze. "Hello, Cub..."
More footsteps caught her ears. Those of which belonged to Gregory.
She smiled as she felt arms snake around her leg. "Hey, Stardust..."
Gregory only smiled, holding on tightly as even more footsteps started coming their way.
There were three people coming, now, and she could tell by the distinct differences who they were. Bonnie, Chica, Roxy.
Skylar opened her eyes in confusion as more arms wrapped around them. 'What is happening?' She asked herself.
Then, her ear twitched again...
It sounded like three more people were approaching from the lower floor of the atrium as they walked up the escalators. Foxy, Monty, Sundrop.
And, as she guessed, they joined in the hug, too.
And so, Skylar found herself trapped in the middle of a large group hug, very confused as to exactly why they were hugging.
"...Is everything okay?" She asked, only able to glance around because she couldn't really move at the moment.
Chica was the one to answer on her right, voice soft and relaxed. "Everything's fine, Sweetie."
"'Kay..."
About a minute of silence went by, the only sounds being the soft music on the speakers above, and the quiet whirring of the animatronics' systems.
"...Anyone care to explain...?" Skylar asked slowly, letting her arms drop from hugging Freddy.
All she got was silence from those around her.
Then, a text message popped up in her vision from DJMM and Moondrop.
'Happy birthday, Skylar! :D'
'We hope you have a great day, Starlight. :)'
Oh.
That's what this was about.
Because it was her birthday, and they knew she didn't want anything over the top, they must've come up with a plan to make it so that they didn't have to necessarily give her 'bad' attention... just make it comfortable attention for her...
And the best option was apparently a hug.
A soft smile formed on her face, her arms slowly wrapping back around Freddy as she rested her temple against his chest, her tail wagging gently.
"..."
"I love you guys." She whispered with a soft huff of laughter, just loud enough for all of them to hear.
She felt her father press a kiss between her ears, followed by a soft whisper. "Happy birthday, Snuggle Pup."
Yes, there were many things Skylar did not like about her own birthday.
The attention, the celebration, the singing...
But there were plenty of things she loved about it.
And as her family's warmth surrounded her in comfortable silence, she knew what she enjoyed the most on her birthday...
The love.
The end..
