Work Text:

Scythe loved the game of cat and mouse with Banhammer (if the cat was a useless hammer and the mouse was a phucking machine gun mixed with the literal reaper’s scythe). The cycle kept going and going, and she couldn’t help but want it to keep repeating.

Everytime she thinks of her Banny, she gets little tingles in her face. He’s an egotistical and prideful prick- but there’s something about him.

It started off as an ‘enemies’ thing. She would’ve never become lovers with the big guy, but Scythe started wanting to become more as the rivalry kept progressing.

She sprinkled a hint of loving-ness in all her teasing and insults towards him, hoping he would get a hint- But of course the big dummy never saw it. Banhammer always seemed more annoyed at her antics- at least, that’s what she thought. Maybe he does like her. Maybe he’s just hiding it.

She tried not to care, but it always tugged at her heart strings. Swords, she hoped he liked her back.

Banhammer sat at at an outdoor cat-themed café table, ticked off at the fact he had to pay for a water.

“I can send anyone to prison, and they still charge me for a cup of water?” He angrily sipped his drink, shuffling around in his seat to fit better. He was too busy fuming to notice a specific demon sneaking up behind the warden.

“Boo,” Scythe whispered into his ear, making Banhammer almost fall off the fold-up chair he just got comfortable in.

“OH PHUCK- WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?” He grasped his chest as the water cup fell out of his hand.

“Aw, ya’ that scared of lil’ ol’ me? Ya’ too easy ta’ sneak up on, Banny.”

“Ugh, whatever. And what’s with you calling me Banny? You act like we’re friends or something.”

“Hm, good question! I like seein’ how mad ya’ get when I do call ye’ that.” Scythe smirked at the pissed-off Banhammer while adjusting her hat.

“I actually wouldn’t mind being friends. Maybe a bit more,” She slipped under her breath. The taller demon raised a brow.

“What did you just say?”

“Nothin’! Bye, ya’ big meathead!” She quickly spun around and ran as fast as her nimble legs could take her. Banhammer was going to get up and chase her but for some reason stayed still.

He stared at the criminal in confusion. What is up with her?

Banhammer picked his cup off the floor, glanced at it, and deemed it unsuitable for drinking. As he got up to throw it away, his mind turned to Scythe.

A ton of questions ran through his smooth ass brain. Why has she been acting like this? No- he shouldn’t care. Scythe’s his enemy for the Swords’ sake! He just has to focus on catching her one day. But, part of him still felt like should care.

“Whatever. I can’t believe I had to pay for this.” He finally threw the cup into the trash before picking up his hammer and walking away- presumably to go find Scythe again to finally lock her up.
