Work Text:
El glared at the girl seated across from him. He once thought he knew her. He cursed himself for believing her lies.
“So,” he started, “What’s your Titan like?”
Serenity’s face became more relaxed.
“Marley calls it “the Warhammer Titan”, ‘cause of the hammer,” she said, breaking eye contact, “but I don’t even like the hammer, I prefer to make double swords.”
El remained silent.
“It’s Marley’s “trump card”; they told me to never use it unless… Well, unless that happened,” Serenity explained, her tone light.
El began to fidget with a leather strap on his gear.
“So, what exactly does it do? I saw you come up from the ground, how does that work?” He asked. Serenity smiled.
“Do you remember when we— you guys caught Annie?” Serenity asked, finally looking at him.
El nodded, raising an eyebrow.
“I use a crystal similar to that— as you saw— but I use it as my ‘nape’,” Serenity continued, “My titan is remotely controlled through that.”
El tried not to look surprised— but Serenity knew him. She smiled again.
“Pretty neat, huh?” she finished.
“Serenity.” El’s voice was stern. Serenity’s smile fell and her eyes widened.
“Uh, yeah?”
“You need to show me your titan. Soon.”
Serenity smiled again.
“Next chance we get, I’ll show you,” she said, “plus, I have a little suspicion that I’ll need to use her again.”
