Fall in You

Summary:

Brio Fic Week 2024 Day 3 : Write something based on a song or quote that reminds you of them

You’re my destiny.
One person who will be my star

Aren’t I too late?
I don’t want to hurt you.
I guess I was scared.

It was my first time, so I realized it now.
That you are my love.

You

Notes:

No beta.

Work Text:

Je n'arrive pas trop tard ? Aren’t I too late? 제가 너무 늦진 않았나요 jega neomu neutjin anannayo

When he'd first met her, she'd been the cliché of the American dream, with her white picket fence, her dog, her husband and her four children. But it had all been a facade. He'd known it the moment he'd seen her.

Despite a doomed marriage in which she wasn't happy, his Elizabeth had clung to her stupid husband again and again. Not out of love, but out of habit. When you spend more than 20 years of your life with someone, you think you're obligated to spend the rest of your life with them, despite their faults and disrespect.

And what's worse, in the end, it was her stupid husband who filed for divorce. He couldn't stand the fact that his wife was smarter, cleverer and more powerful than he was. And Elizabeth, that's all he could never be.

But to him, those weren't her best qualities, oh no. She was manipulative, selfish and vicious, just like him.

That's why she was perfect for him. They were so different and yet so similar. Like two sides of the same coin.

Patience was indeed a virtue, and in his case it had paid off.

Je ne veux pas te faire de mal. I don’t want to hurt you. 상처받을까 봐 sangcheobadeulkka bwa

Even though he'd never touched her, he knew he'd hurt her, a lot. They'd both hurt each other. Just because they'd been two idiots, stubborn morons who didn't know how to communicate.

But after the loudest storm had stopped thundering, Rio had promised himself that if he ever made Elizabeth cry, it would only be tears of joy sliding down her porcelain cheeks.

And so far, he'd kept his promise. And he knew he'd keep it until the end.

Je crois que j'ai eu peur. I guess I was scared. 내가 겁이 났나 봐요 naega geobi nanna bwayo

If someone had ever told him that he was afraid of his feelings, Rio would have laughed out loud. But maybe that was why he acted the way he did with her. Because he was afraid, afraid of how she made him feel. Good or bad. His heart ached, his head, his mind. She had turned him upside down. But out of fear of being a toy, a plaything, a revenge, he'd preferred to hurt her first, thinking it would be easier. It hadn't been. And maybe he was a bit of a masochist, because he still wanted more, and more. And so did she, luckily for him.

Tu es mon destin. You’re my destiny. 그댄 운명이죠 geudaen nae unmyeongijyo

Rio did not believe in destiny; he never had. He could never believe that it was his destiny to become a criminal. Nothing could have predicted it. He'd had a happy childhood with his grandmother, who took good care of him and raised him with respect and love. But as he grew older, he realized that behind her cheerful exterior, his grandmother worked hard to provide him with a modest life.

His view of the world had changed, turning to bitterness and reinforcing his disbelief in fate, or anything else for that matter.

Well, that was until he met Elizabeth Irene Boland, now, or rather Marks, again.

Even if he wanted to get rid of the suburban mom, which he didn't, he couldn't.

No matter what happened, no matter how unexpected, how betrayed or unspoken, she always managed to come back into his life. And if she didn't come back on her own, he would go looking for her. It was as if an invisible, indestructible bond bound them together.

It was this woman who had made him believe in fate.

No other living being could have surpassed what they had experienced. No one could have forgiven themselves the way they had. And above all, no one would have ended up together, in love and happy.

Elizabeth was his destiny, he was sure of it.

Une personne qui sera mon étoile. One person who will be my star. 나의 별이 되어줄 한사람 naui byeori doeeojul hansaram

He was no longer the only lonely star in the sky. She had joined him, his star, brighter than any other star in the sky. And together they formed a tiny constellation that eclipsed all others.

C'était ma première fois, alors je l'ai réalisé maintenant. It was my first time, so I realized it now. 처음이라서 이제야 깨달았죠 cheoeumiraseo ijeya kkaedaratjyo

He had never felt this way about another woman. Not even the mother of his son. It was new, like a teenager falling in love for the first time, except he was 36. And he knew that from now on he wouldn't be alone at the top. He would fall asleep and wake up with her by his side. She would share this world, this life, with him.

Que tu es mon amour. That you are my love. 그대가 나의 사랑이란 걸 geudaega naui sarangiran geol

She was his love, she was his queen, she was his wife, she was his half, she was his world.

Toi. You. 그대 geudae

She. Only her. Forever and ever. Elizabeth Irene Marks.
