Work Text:

Quan Chi had never thought of marriage. It was something that just slipped his mind. He had you. It was all that he wanted. He wasn't going to leave you. Also, he wasn't exactly sure how to get married. There wasn't any place that you could go to in the Netherrealm. There wasn't any religious place or any person in the Netherrealm you could go to. Most called it the Netherrealm; others called it Hell. Sure, he could propose, but marriage probably wouldn't be a thing. He wasn't going to propose until you expressed an interest in marriage.

“Hey, Quan Chi.” You said with a smile as you walked towards him.

He turned in his chair to face you. A small smile spread across his face. He was always happy to see you.

“Hello, my love.” He said as he grabbed you and sat you on his lap. “Do you need something?”

“I was just wondering... Have you ever been married before?”

You knew that he had once been alive. He died and was cast into the Netherrealm. There was never a time that he left your questions unanswered. He was never bothered by anything that you said. He wouldn't hesitate to hurt someone who made you feel as if your statements and questions were bad.

“No, I haven't.” He said simply. It was the truth. He was never interested in anyone, and if he did have previous partners, he never loved them enough to want to spend the rest of his life with them. You were different, however.

You laid your head on his shoulder as he kept his arm wrapped around you and his other hand on your leg. He wouldn't be the first to speak. He didn't want to know why you wanted to know. It didn't matter to him. He would keep it in the back of his mind, though. You spoke of marriage. Surely, that meant that you wanted to be married. If not, it didn't matter. He would wait until you asked him.

It would only be a few days or weeks, depending on how easily you forget things. He would find a beautiful place. A place that you had wanted to go to.

“Y/N, love, I want to show you something.” He said when he found you alone. It wasn't hard. He knew all that went on in the Netherrealm. There was nothing that he didn't know about.

“Alright.” You said as you stood up and followed him.

He took your hand as he led you through a portal. You looked around as the scenery changed.

“Where are we?”

“The place that you had once mentioned you wanted to go to.” He said as he turned and looked at you.

You smiled as you walked around the place. He stayed behind and dropped to one knee. He pulled out the ring box and waited for you to look at him.

“Will you marry me?”

It was simple and short. He wasn't very good at being romantic, but he tried.
