Chapter Text
Izuku was only four when his quirk manifested, an age when most kids would have blurry memories, But his were very vivid. He remembered nearly everything perfectly ever since he was two years old. He didn't know why this was but it didn't matter. The only thing that mattered was that he remembered that day just as vividly, and it made him sick every time he thought about it. He was only four, he went to hug his mom goodnight but when he laid all five fingers on her back like he usually did he heard a scream and a strange crackle noise before she was gone, and in her place lay a pile of ash and dust. He was scared, no scratch that he was terrified, he didn't understand any of it, the scream, the noise, his missing mom, he just wanted it all to stop. One of their neighbors must have heard the scream and called the cops but it didn't matter because by the time there were sirens even in hearing range of the house, Izuku was gone. He ran as far and as fast as he could, as though his life depended on it, which, for all he knew, it did. When he couldn't run anymore, he was in a part of the city he didn't recognize. He wandered briefly before seeing a little kid sitting in an alley with black hair, crying alone. Izuku didn't know what else to do but go over and ask them what was wrong, so that's exactly what he did.
( Shigaraki pov ) Shigaraki was five years old by the time he manifested a quirk. He was petting his dog, and then he wasn't. His sister heard the scream and came to check on him, not understanding what was happening he grabbed her arm in desperation, and then she was gone too. His mom, hearing two more screams, came running out to check and hugged him tightly to calm him down, and then she left too. His father came into the backyard where he still was from playing with his dog, and by then they both knew it was Tenko doing it. He killed his dad on purpose. He deserved it, he was an asshole. When it was all over he went out to the street and began looking for someone to help him but no one even glanced at the dust-covered child who had just stopped crying. The heroes would deal with it, surely they would, that's what heroes were for, after all, saving people. But the heroes did not come to save him, rather he, a distressed child lay alone in a dirty alley just wishing someone would help but no one did, at least not until some green-haired kid who looked to be around the same age approached.
( back to Izuku ) While Izuku was walking towards him, the other kid seemed wary of Izuku, but Izuku was expecting that after all, he was wary too but heroes helped everyone and he was going to be a hero so he needed to help him. Izuku reached the other boy to say "Are you okay? You look upset." Tenko... didn't know what to say. The adults ignored him, hardly even looked at him, and there were no heroes to be seen, but this boy who looked to be even younger than Tenko himself, came up to him to make sure that he was ok. The other kid looked like he had been crying too but was pushing his emotions away to help Tenko... this boy, no matter what else happened tonight, would be his image of a true hero, and nothing could change that.
"I don't know I can't find my family. I think I made them go away when I touched them."
"That's ok I made my mommy go away too. I got scared and ran all the way here and now I'm lost." Izuku said with a slight frown. "Maybe we can help each other!" he exclaimed.
"How would we do that?" Tenko asked a little intrigued by the prospect.
"Wel do you know where the police station is?" Not quite understanding Tenko said
"Yeah"
"Well, why don't you show me where it is and I'll talk to the police and then they can help us!" But just as he finished saying that a tall, broad-shouldered man with white hair walked up behind Izuku and began to speak.
"What are two young children doing out so late at night by yourselves?" He had originally just wanted Tenko but this green-haired kid might prove useful. and besides, he was a 200 hundred-year-old supervillain, he had plenty of money. As smart as he was he fell right into this villain's trap.
"We think we made our families go away and now I'm lost," he said looking a bit sad at the memory.
"Well I can't bring your families back, but if you like you can come back with me. I have some extra bedrooms with toys in them. I was gonna adopt but since you're so lost and neither of you has a family it wouldn't hurt right?" That wasn't entirely a lie he did have a few extra bedrooms with children's toys just in case.
"Sure!" Izuku exclaimed in happiness. He couldn't think of any holes in that logic. Tenko was a bit skeptical at first but he somehow trusted Izuku even though he didn't know his name yet so he too agreed.
"Wonderful! Now, what are the both of your names?"
"I'm Izuku!"
"My name is Tenko," the other boy added with much less enthusiasm.
"Such lovely names! And where do you boys go to school?"
"I go to Masegaki," called out Izuku, rather cheefully
"I'm homeschooled," was Tenko's response.
