Chapter Text

Vadee was lying in bed, unable to fall asleep. She had aggravated Seamus and now he was rampaging through their apartment. Do you want to know what she did that aggravated him so much? She refused to call him "daddy". Vadee had barely known the man, she had only lived with him for about three months.
He heard her sob quietly from her room.
"GO TO SLEEP YOU LITTLE BRAT" Seamus screamed, busting open the door, "First you disobey me and now you refuse to sleep?!"
"I'm sorry, it's just difficul-"
Seamus hit her hard across the face with her table lamp. Blood oozing down her face, Seamus stormed off, slamming the door behind him. Vadee could feel her consciousness falter as she drifted off into a painful sleep.
Vadee was used to getting weird dreams. She had been ever since she was a child, but recently she’d been getting recurring dreams of bad memories.
She was drawn back about four months ago. The family who had apparently adopted her as a baby did something that made her snap. She had always suspected that she was adopted, but that didn't mean she knew that they would abuse her. They would criticize her about her appearance, what she ate, how she behaved. I mean come on, Vadee had ADHD, dyslexia and much more to come. Like– Cut her some slack. They created double standards for her and nothing was ever enough.
"Mom?" Vadee asked. "Can I have the same thing for lunch that I did yesterday?"
She didn’t reply. Probably didn’t hear since she was washing dishes.
“MOMOMOM!! I asked if I could eat the same thing for lunch as yesterday! Please answer me..”
Her mom glared at her with a stern look on her face. Her mothers patience was low. She did not tolerate any tone or attitude.
"That's it! No phone for two weeks, it's making you ugly!" Vadee's mom screamed, snatching her phone from her. Her mom walked over to the sink and went back to stack dishes vigorously until she grabbed a plate and threw it at Vadee's head. She cried out in pain.
“YOU LITTLE BITCH-!”

Clutching her head, she ran upstairs, into her room, and locked the room behind her. She knew she was going to get even more punished for locking it, but she knew it would give her more time. What her mom didn't think of, was that she had left her iPad in her room.
Vadee grabbed her iPad and quickly considered what to do. At this point in time, her father had just gotten home, and her mom told her dad what had happened. They were now marching upstairs. Vadee immediately called 911 in a panic, not knowing what to do. She hoped that she wasn't being dramatic, but her head was kinda bleeding out… and she felt as if she would pass out.
911 picked up, "911 how may I help you?"
"Um," Vadee quivered, "My parents are hurting me and uhh- my mom threw a plate! AT MY HEAD! my head is bleeding out now... I don't know how much longer I can stay conscious. Please just do something. I dunno what I did wrong!"
"OK hang tight. And how old are you sweetie?"
"14"
"What's your address?"
"32 Cherry Street, Boston, Massachusetts."
"Alright sweetie hang tight and whatever you do stay-on-the-phone."
That was when it all went wrong. Her parents managed to bust through her door and it fell flat on her. All the air was knocked out of Vadee, unable to speak. Her iPad was also destroyed by the falling door, silencing the call.
Vadee managed to stand up and charged past her parents to quickly run downstairs. Her mother was quick to follow.
Throwing her slipper at Vadee, perfectly hitting her head. She was so out of it. Normally Vadee could catch the shoes thrown at her but not today, not while she was literally bleeding from her head.
Her mother stormed into the kitchen and pulled out a knife, the one she used for big slabs of meat. Her father had gotten downstairs and began to shout. She was too tired to even make out the words, they all sounded like the same loud jumble in her mind. When she saw her mom with the knife she panicked. Would her mom really use that on her??? She tried to fight but her father pinned her down, she hadn't gotten a lot of sleep the previous night and she was sore from the sports she had done earlier in the day. She managed to get out of her fathers grasp, but in a blur her mother stabbed her right through the stomach. Vadee felt excruciating pain, it was like a 0 out of 10 experience. She tried to get free but her mom had removed the knife, causing her to bleed out more. She slapped her mom hard on the face, causing her to hit back. Her mother then took the knife and stabbed it right next to the biggest nerve in her right arm, dragging it two inches up. Luckily, the police then busted through the door.
"Put your hands up and drop the knife!" They yelled. Three officers cuffed them up and put them into the police car.
Doctors came in with a stretcher and carefully placed Vadee on it. The pain was indescribable. She felt as if she were to vomit. While she was carried away she saw her living room. Plants were knocked over and the area where she was assaulted looked like a crime scene, a big puddle of blood.
The doctors temporarily stopped the bleeding and started driving to the nearest hospital. That was the moment she didn't know if she would survive. And with that she passed out.
