Chapter Text
Vaggie was always a loyal angel.
She never questioned Adam or Lute, and this ultimately led to her being one of the better exorcists. She also was very good at wielding her weapon. Vaggie always knew her purpose was to kill sinners, no matter the cost.
Though, eventually, she came across her first child that she had seen in all her years as an exorcist in a small alleyway.
It was likely around her fifth or sixth extermination, and by now she had killed thousands, looking to increase the number. She shoved her pity for the child away as she raised her spear.
However, she froze, sighing to herself slightly as she let the sinner go, turning around as she continued to do her job to the older sinners and avoiding going down any more alleyways.

Returning to Heaven, Vaggie took her mask off. It felt nice to actually be able to breathe the fresh air instead of the fog of Hell. She relished in it as the portal behind the army closed, leaving Hell to grow for another year before the next extermination.
Vaggie felt someone come up behind her and slap her back in a bit of a joyful manor. “That was a good extermination. By the end of the year you may just be good enough to be standing next to Adam and I in the ranks,” Lute stated. Vaggie smiled ignoring the familiar blush that creeped up on her face and answered, “Bold of you to assume I won’t pass you.”
The two shared a laugh as they headed to their shared room, next to the training halls. Every exorcist had a roommate to ensure maximum effort was put into training. It was just luck that caused the two exorcists to be roomed together - or, more likely, it was the fact that Adam knew they were a dangerous duo together.
“Well, I’m gonna go get in the shower. Don’t want to smell like filth at the afterparty later, am I right?” Vaggie mentioned as she headed to the bathroom. Lute barked out a laugh as she responded jokingly, “Alright then, wimp. Can’t handle the smell of sinners anymore, ey?” Vaggie snickered, saying, “You wish,” before closing the bathroom door.
She turned on the shower, taking off her uniform and then her underclothes. Stepping into the warm water, she sighed as her muscles untensed. She was always tense during exterminations - just because the sinners couldn’t kill her doesn’t mean they didn’t make her wary with the way they all were always so horrible.
Her thoughts then turned towards the child she had spared. Thinking back on it now, he didn’t even look old enough to have done any major sins to get him down there. From her memory, he seemed to be about only 8. Vaggie’s brows furrowed; why would a child that young do something so horrible to send him down there?
Could Hell be less troublesome than she thought?
Vaggie shook her head; she wasn’t normally one to question, and she wasn’t about to start now. She turned the shower off, exiting before changing into fresher clothes and heading out to go meet Lute (and the other exorcists) at the afterparty.

Entering the large party room, she noticed that most exorcists had decided to keep their blood-stained uniforms on. Vaggie shrugged, not too bothered by it - it was normal, anyway. She had always changed just to be sure she looked nicer for the party as she attempted to continue to get onto Adam’s good side.
“Vaggie, over here girl! You were fucking badass today, according to Lute!” Vaggie turned her head towards the sound of Adam’s voice. She smiled as she noticed Lute looking back at her with a grin as she walked over. “Yeah, I killed probably about 258 this year,” she stated before turning to Lute and continuing, “Though, Lute did really well too. Hey, also, think you could teach me that spin move you used on the one sinner?”
They conversed for most of the remainder of the after party, also somewhat talking of future plans for exterminations as well as just random stuff they thought about.
The party lasted long into the night, as always. Vaggie and Lute were now walking back to the apartment together in a comfortable silence. When they opened the doors they split into their separate beds and fell asleep fairly quickly.

Vaggie woke up later than normal - normally, she would be afraid of being late for training. However, Adam always gave the exorcists a break for a few days after the exterminations to allow them to get situated after the long day.
Vaggie looked to her side to see Lute already gone, likely to go to meetings that are mandatory for the second-in-command to attend with the commander. She sat up, stretching with a small smile as she grabbed her water bottle that was next to her.
Just then, Lute came out of the bathroom, looking gorgeous stunning hot focused. Vaggie raised a brow as Lute turned toward her and asked, “You know how we were joking about you joining me in the ranks?” Vaggie didn’t have a chance to answer before Lute continued with, “Well, that’s no joke now. Adam mentioned to me that he was hoping for you to come with us to the meeting to see if we can get you a promotion. Your numbers were always as high as mine. Not surpassing of course, but still.”
“Holy shit really??” Vaggie was immediately up and getting ready for the day. Lute snickered as she waited for Vaggie to be finished, before the two headed to the doors together.

Vaggie walked into the meeting room inside the Seraphims’ castle, looking around incredulously. “How did you ever get used to this?” Vaggie asked as Lute shrugged, replying, “Well, I’m honestly not even used to it. I think it’s made to be like that.”
The two soon reached where they were to sit, which was one of the seats that were lower than the Seraphims’ yet at least slightly higher than some of the less important higher-ups. Adam was already there as Lute took her seat next to him. “Heya Vaggasaurus, good to see you! Ready to become one of my top lesbos?” he loudly yelled out. Ignoring the way Adam said lesbos, Vaggie nodded with a determined look.
Sera then entered the room in her lesser form, as it was more human-like and less… angelicly blinding, like all of the other stuff up here. Vaggie appreciated this; whenever Sera made a public appearance she normally was just in her more angelic form to draw more attention to her.
There was nobody else in the room but the four as Sera began to speak. “Adam has asked me here to promote one of his top soldiers into being third in command - I am here to grant permission, as I have looked over the files of Vaggie and they agree with Adam’s statement. Vaggie, stand up.”
Vaggie nodded and did as she was told, doing her best not to shift in her seat. “I, Sera, the high Seraphim of Heaven, hereby promote Vaggie, a top exorcist, to be third in command of the exorcist army.” As she said this, Sera handed Vaggie a newer mask, one that looked more similar to Lute’s. The horns were on the top of it and the smile looked more ruthless, however the eye with the X was on the opposite side, as it was Vaggie’s good eye.
Vaggie gave a little bow to Sera and smiled, saying, “Thank you. I won’t let Heaven down.” Sera smiled back with a nod before she left the courtroom.
As soon as Sera was gone, Adam knocked the wind out of her by slapping her in the back lightheartedly as he stated, “Fuck yeah! Can’t wait to see you lecture all of the wimpy lesbos with Lute!” Vaggie looked over at Lute with a smile. Lute returned said smile and said, “Honestly, I know some of the girls are already scared of you. It won’t be too hard to whip them into shape before the next extermination.” Vaggie nodded agreement - the newer recruits were in dire need of better training, and having two people to help would definitely speed up the process.
Vaggie saluted the both of them before leaving the meeting room with her new mask on her head, wearing it proudly as if it was a trophy. Lute had put hers on by now as well, and the two walked back to their room while chatting about future battle plans while Adam left to go attend to ‘some business,’ as he put it.
When the two returned to their room, Vaggie took her mask off and put it on her nightstand, taking her old one and throwing it into the closet for now. “Hey, I never thought to ask this, but do they reuse these?” Vaggie asked. Lute grimaced at the question and nodded, replying, “Yeah, I think so. Kind of disgusting if you ask me - all of the sweat of the person who wore it before you would gross me out.”
Vaggie grimaced as well, nodding agreement as she stated, “Well then, I’m glad I get a fresher mask.” Lute nodded agreement before the two settled down into their respective beds, as it was getting late.
Vaggie slept peacefully that night, dreaming about all of the fun she would have later in the week when they begun training with the less-experienced angels.
