Work Text:

"Asi!"

Alaz stumbled along the gurney as they pulled her into the hospital, trying desperately to keep hold of her. He was spent after hours and hours of trying to stay strong, and after keeping her together so she could hang on, going through a cycle of fear, anger, remorse, desperation, and a hefty cocktail of plenty of other emotions, his body was ready to give up on him. Still, he couldn't bring himself to let her out of his sight just yet. She was already surrounded by medical professionals, much more qualified to keep her alive than him, and so close to the operating room, but he still felt the fear of losing her any moment cutting into him sharply.

"Asi," he repeated, new tears finding their way into his eyes.

"Sir, you can't come along any further," someone said. He moved forward, unhearing. Hands held him back.

"Asi!" he yelled, and more hands joined.

"Alaz, it's okay," someone said. It all sounded far away, like he was hearing through water. He had no idea who it was. "She's going to be okay, come on."

"No," he said, staring blankly at his bloodstained hands. "No, she... She lost a lot of blood. She's been bleeding for hours... She... She needs..."

He collapsed onto the floor, and vaguely heard shouts of alarm. Someone pulled at his arms, tugged him into a room, pressed a bottle of water in his hands. He stared blankly through it all.

They prodded at him, shone light into his eyes, checked his tongue, before declaring him dehydrated and hooking him up with an IV. He felt dizzy, his mind was blank other than Asi's name, and his sight was growing darker. Whenever his eyes grew closed, he saw Asi bleeding out, and snapped them back up.

After a while, his head grew clearer.

"Where's Asi?" he rasped out, grasping the untouched bottle of water in his hand. He glanced up and saw it was his father with him. He stumbled up from where he was sitting, and Serhan quickly reached out for him.

"Take me to her," he demanded, and resigned to his son's stubbornness, Serhan just sighed and guided him out of the room.

"She's in surgery," he said. "Your mom is with her."

Alaz kept pushing forward, turning corridors at random, until he found himself facing Yaman.

"Yaman," he gasped out, and his brother reached for him immediately.

"She's going to be okay," Yaman reassured without him even asking, pulling him into his arms. He pressed a kiss to Alaz' hair. "They said it missed anything vital, she just lost a lot of blood. She needs stitches and some blood transfusion, then she'll be right as rain."

Alaz sagged against him, feeling like he could breathe for the first time in days.

"I'm sorry," he rasped out. "I'm so sorry, abi, I..."

Yaman sushed him and held him tighter.

"You did the right thing." he said, as Alaz nodded into his shoulder. "You did good. I'm so proud of you, Alaz, so proud."

Alaz sobbed. Yaman pulled back to smile at him, then guided him to a chair. Alaz noticed Cesur was sitting there, too.

"Thank you." Cesur said. Alaz looked at him, dumbfounded, but he only pressed a hand against Alaz' shoulder, and leaned back in his chair.

It could have been hours, or days, or minutes until someone came out of the operation, but it felt like centuries to Alaz. He had alternated between crying, staring silently at the wall, and pacing around before inevitably collapsing back again, before his mom finally came up to them. He shot up out of his seat immediately, but his mom was smiling.

"She'll be okay," she said, still smiling. "The bleeding has stopped, and she got a transfusion. She's a strong one."

"Can I see her?" Alaz immediately asked.

"Not yet," she said, but before Alaz could protest, continued. "She's being moved into a room, you can see her in a bit."

It was a blur of motion and shuffling along before he finally found himself in a room with Asi again.

"Asi," he breathed out in relief, drawn immediately to her side. His hand brushed her hair away from her face, cupping her forehead. He sank down on the armchair to the side, eyes glued onto her face. He didn't pay any attention to the others behind him, and kept caressing her face. He missed the others exchanging a glance.

"You should eat something," Neslihan said, coming up to him. Alaz didn't answer.

"Alaz," she started again, "It's been a long day for you. Eat something, please."

"When will she wake up?" Alaz asked in return. Neslihan sighed.

"I don't know, son, she's probably exhausted. It could be minutes or hours. Come on, you should..."

He tuned her out.

She seemed to give up after a while, and Alaz found himself sitting in silence at Asi's bedside, holding one of her hands while the other caressed her face. He heard people speaking, but replied to none until Yaman came up to him to say he was getting them something to eat. He nodded and saw Cesur take the opposing side of the bed.

He sat there unmoving for what felt like hours, until Asi's hand twitched in his. His head shot up.

"Alaz..."

"Asi," he breathed out. He leaned forward, pressed a kiss on her forehead. "You're safe, we're out... You're safe." She gave a tiny nod.

"You scared us, but you pulled through." Cesur said, and Asi started. She turned to look at him like she was surprised anyone but Alaz was with her.

"Look..." Alaz said, with a tiny smile. "I have something to tell you." She looked at him questioningly, and that was the moment Yaman chose to come back with the food.

"Yaman!" she gasped out as she shot up in the bed, before clutching her abdomen in pain. All three rushed at her, but she waved them off. She stared at Yaman, mouth gaping open.

"Yaman, what..."

"I'm here, sweetie." his brother said. He reached out to embrace her. "I'm ok, I swear..." Asi cried silent tears into his shoulder as Cesur wrapped his arms around both. Once, Alaz might have been filled with burning jealousy at such a sight. Now he only felt joy for Asi.

It took a while before they all seperated, huge smiles on their faces.

"Come now, eat something." Yaman said, gesturing to the tray. Alaz reached for the bowl of soup and held up a spoon to Asi's mouth. To everyone else's surprise, Asi took a sip without argument. Alaz fed her spoon after spoon, contentment filling his chest with warmth with every sip she took.

"Alaz, you eat too. You haven't had a single bite since you've arrived." his brother said, the traitor. Asi turned to glare at him.

"Eat," she said, and he obligingly took a sip. From the corner of his eye, he saw Cesur laughing.

"Our girl has him whipped," he said to Yaman, and Alaz ignored him as he fed another bite to Asi.

A flood of visitors followed after in a blur, and before he knew it, it was dark again, and visiting hours were over.

"Asi will stay the night just in case," his mother explained, Güven to her side. "We can release her tomorrow. Visiting hours are over, so you should all go home to rest. Alaz, you should..."

"I'm staying."

"Alaz, go home, son." his father said. "You're exhausted, go get some rest. Someone else can stay with..."

He turned a glare at him.

"Alaz, go rest at home..." Asi said weakly. He turned immediately to her, clutching her hand. She clutched right back.

"I'm not leaving you." he said. Asi smiled.

In the end, nobody could persuade him otherwise, and left them to their own devices.

"I love you." Alaz said as Asi looked at him in surprise with wide, shining eyes. "You're not alone. You have me, Asi, you always have me."

Tears shone in her eyes, but she was smiling. He smiled back at her, heart bursting with happiness.

"Me too, Alaz. I love you too."
