Ai Di adjusted the silver ring on his finger, a subtle shield against unwanted advances. It had become a habitual accessory, a silent signal that he was off-limits. He glanced around the dimly lit bar, his eyes scanning for potential trouble. As if on cue, a figure approached, swaggering with confidence.

"Hey there, handsome," the stranger greeted, flashing a charming smile.

Ai Di raised an eyebrow, mentally preparing himself for the inevitable conversation. "Sorry, not interested," he replied, flashing the ring on his finger.

The stranger chuckled, undeterred. "Married, huh? Well, your husband must be a lucky guy."

Ai Di smirked, a rehearsed response slipping effortlessly from his lips. "Yeah, he's pretty great. Keeps me safe from all the creeps out there."

Just as he expected, the stranger's demeanour shifted, a mix of disappointment and respect. "I hear you," he said with a nod. "Well, take care then."

As the stranger walked away, Ai Di breathed a sigh of relief, grateful for his little white lie. But just as he relaxed into his seat, another figure caught his eye. This one was different, exuding an air of authority that commanded attention. Ai Di's heart skipped a beat as their eyes locked.

"Mind if I join you?" the newcomer asked, his voice low and smooth.

Ai Di hesitated, caught off guard by the unexpected request. "Um, sure," he replied, gesturing to the empty seat opposite him.

The man slid into the seat effortlessly, his gaze never leaving Ai Di's face. "You're Ai Di, right?" he asked, his tone almost casual.

Ai Di's eyes widened in surprise. "How did you...?"

The man chuckled, reaching out to gently touch Ai Di's hand, causing him to flinch involuntarily. "Relax, I'm not here to cause trouble," he reassured. "I just wanted to talk."

Ai Di studied the man's face, searching for any hint of malice. But all he found was a curious warmth that seemed out of place in their current setting. "Okay," he said cautiously. "What do you want to talk about?"

The man leaned back, a sly grin playing at the corners of his lips. "Your marriage," he replied, his voice laced with intrigue.

Ai Di's heart skipped a beat at the mention of his fabricated marriage. It had been a safety net, a strategic ploy to ward off unwanted advances. If too many questions were asked, he could make mistakes that could not be recovered from.

He hesitated, his mind racing to formulate a response. But before he could gather his thoughts, the man continued, his tone calculated yet oddly inviting. "I find it fascinating, this story of yours. Tell me more about your husband, Chen Yi."

Ai Di's breath caught in his throat. He hadn't expected the stranger to mention a name, let alone the name of the infamous gang leader he had been using. Panic surged through him, but he fought to maintain his composure.

"I... I don't know what you're talking about," Ai Di stammered, his voice betraying his nerves.

The man's smile widened "Oh, but you do, Ai Di. And I must say, it's quite the tale you've woven for yourself."

Ai Di's mind raced, searching for an escape route. But the man's gaze held him captive, his every word like a carefully placed trap. He knew he couldn't keep up the facade any longer.

With a defeated sigh, Ai Di attempted to deflect. "Look, I appreciate your interest, but my personal life is none of your business."

The man chuckled softly, shaking his head in mock disappointment. "Come now, Ai Di. Don't be coy. We both know there's more to this story than you're letting on."

Ai Di's jaw clenched, frustration bubbling beneath the surface. How could this stranger see through him so easily? He had always prided himself on his ability to deceive, to keep people at arm's length. And yet here he was, laid bare before a man he barely knew.

"I told you, there's nothing to tell," Ai Di insisted, his tone bordering on desperation.

The man's smile softened a hint of sympathy in his gaze. "I understand why you feel the need to hide, Ai Di. But sometimes, the truth can be liberating."

"I appreciate your concern, but I'm not looking for advice," Ai Di replied, his tone firm as he attempted to steer the conversation away from his personal life.

The man regarded him with a knowing look as if he could see right through the facade Ai Di was desperately clinging to. "Fair enough," he said with a nod, though there was a hint of disappointment in his voice.

Ai Di exhaled a silent sigh of relief, grateful for the reprieve. As he attempted to make his exit, the man's hand on his arm tightened, halting him in his tracks. "Before you go, there's something I want you to know," the man said, his voice gentle yet insistent.

Ai Di's heart pounded in his chest, a sinking feeling settling in the pit of his stomach. He knew he couldn't escape this conversation - the man’s tight hold on his arm not giving him any leeway to escape.

Reluctantly, he sank back into his seat, his gaze fixed on the stranger's unwavering stare. "What is it?" he asked, his voice tinged with resignation.

The man leaned in closer, his breath warm against Ai Di's ear. "I know who you really are, Ai Di," he whispered, his words sending a chill down Ai Di's spine, “I know everything about you”

Ai Di's eyes widened in alarm, his mind racing to comprehend the implications of the man's revelation. How could he have possibly uncovered the truth behind Ai Di's carefully constructed facade?

"I don't know what you're talking about," Ai Di insisted, his voice trembling with fear.

But the man simply smiled, a knowing glint in his eyes. "Oh, but you do," he replied, his tone dripping with certainty. "You're not married to Chen Yi. You never have been."

Ai Di felt as though the ground had fallen out from beneath him, leaving him suspended in a void of uncertainty. How could this stranger know such intimate details about his life? And more importantly, what did he plan to do with that information?

"I don't know who you think you are, but you don't know anything about me," Ai Di snapped, his bravado masking the fear that threatened to consume him.

But the man remained unfazed, his smile unwavering. "I know more than you realize, Ai Di. And I think it's time you stopped pretending."

Ai Di's pulse quickened as he locked eyes with the stranger, his facade crumbling under the weight of the man's unwavering gaze. "What do you want from me?" he demanded, his voice edged with desperation.

The man's smile remained unchanged, but there was a glint of steel in his eyes now, a silent warning that sent a shiver down Ai Di's spine. "I want the truth, Ai Di," he replied, his tone deceptively calm. "No more lies, no more games."

Ai Di swallowed hard, the lump in his throat making it difficult to speak. "I... I can't," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. "You don't understand what's at stake.

The man leaned in closer, his breath hot against Ai Di's ear as he spoke in a low, menacing whisper. "Oh, I understand perfectly," he said, his words dripping with spite. "And let me make one thing clear: if you don't cooperate, there will be consequences."

Ai Di screamed at himself internally because his heart decided to betray him at this moment. Why was there excitement mixed with the fear he was feeling? But, his instincts for survival led him to push it back down, his blood running cold at the subtle threat, his mind racing to come up with a plan. He knew he couldn't continue to hide the truth, not with the man's piercing gaze bearing down on him.

With a shaky breath, Ai Di squared his shoulders, summoning what little courage he had left. "Fine," he said, his voice trembling but resolute. "But you have to promise me one thing: no harm will come to me or anyone else because of this."

The man's smile widened, a predatory glint in his eyes that sent a shiver down Ai Di's spine. "Oh, I promise," he replied, his voice dripping with sinister intent. "But whether or not I keep that promise... well, that's up to you."

As the weight of the man's words settled over him, Ai Di knew he had no choice but to comply. With a heavy heart, he began to unravel the web of lies he had spent so long weaving, exposing himself to the stranger in a way he never thought possible. But as the truth spilled from his lips, he couldn't shake the sinking feeling that he had just made a deal with the devil himself.

As Ai Di reluctantly revealed the truth, his words hung heavy in the air, each confession a painful admission of his vulnerability. The stranger listened intently, his expression unreadable as Ai Di bared his soul.

When Ai Di looked up from the countertop he had been staring at in shame, his hands shook at the cold demeanour the stranger was exhibiting, but he could also detect some amusement in his eyes. This made a thousand different questions run through Ai Di’s head, the one at the forefront being, why this stranger was so adamant on knowing his story and the lies he had been fabricating.

Ai Di's brow furrowed in confusion, his mind reeling "Who are you?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.

The man's lips turned up slightly at the corner, the smile never reaching his eyes and making Ai Di shift nervously in his seat, "I think you already know," he replied cryptically, his tone sharp.

But before Ai Di could respond, the man leaned in closer, his features bathed in the soft glow of the dimly lit bar. "My name is Chen Yi," he confessed, his words sending a shockwave of disbelief through Ai Di's already fractured reality.

Ai Di's breath caught in his throat, his mind struggling to process the revelation. Chen Yi—the feared and revered gang leader whose very name struck fear into the hearts of men—was sitting before him, making him spill his lies about himself. The man's entire existence screamed danger, yet Ai Di could see compassion in his eyes.

"You're... you're Chen Yi?" Ai Di stammered, his voice trembling with disbelief.

Chen Yi nodded, a smirk on his lips. "In the flesh," he confirmed, his gaze never leaving Ai Di's face.

Ai Di felt as though the ground had fallen out from beneath him, leaving him adrift in a sea of uncertainty. How could he have been so blind, so naive to believe that he could deceive someone like Chen Yi?

As Ai Di gazed into Chen Yi's eyes, a sense of vulnerability washed over him, realizing he stood before the untouchable gang leader. "Chen Yi," he murmured, his voice barely above a whisper, "I didn't mean to—"

Chen Yi raised a hand, cutting him off. His expression was stern, a stark contrast to the warmth Ai Di had seen moments before. "Save it, Ai Di," he said, his voice low and commanding. "I know exactly what you meant to do."

Ai Di's heart sank as Chen Yi's words hung in the air. He had hoped to find understanding in Chen Yi's gaze, but instead, he found only disappointment and anger.

"How did you know my name?" Ai Di asked, his voice trembling with apprehension.

Chen Yi's lips curled into a humorless smile. "You forget who you're dealing with," he replied, his tone icy. "I have eyes and ears everywhere."

Ai Di felt a knot form in his stomach as he realized the extent of Chen Yi's power. He had thought himself clever, using Chen Yi's name as a shield against unwanted attention. But now he saw the folly of his actions, the danger of playing with fire.

"I never meant to use you," Ai Di protested, his voice pleading. "I was just trying to protect myself."

Chen Yi's gaze softened slightly, a flicker of sympathy in his eyes. "I understand," he said, his voice softer now. "But that doesn't excuse what you did, Ai Di. You lied to me, to everyone in this bar."

Ai Di bowed his head in shame, unable to meet Chen Yi's gaze. He had never intended to deceive Chen Yi, but in his desperation to keep people at arm's length, he had unwittingly manipulated the one person who could retaliate.

"I'm sorry," he whispered, his voice barely audible above the din of the bar.

Chen Yi regarded him in silence for a moment, his expression unreadable. Then, slowly, he reached out to gently lift Ai Di's chin, forcing him to meet his gaze.

"You may have lied to me, Ai Di," Chen Yi said, his voice tinged with resignation, "but I see something in you worth saving."

Ai Di's heart swelled with emotion at Chen Yi's words, a sense of hope blossoming within him despite the gravity of the situation. "What do you mean?" he asked, his voice trembling with anticipation.

Chen Yi's smile was enigmatic as he leaned in closer, his breath warm against Ai Di's ear. "I mean that maybe there's more to you than meets the eye," he murmured, his tone cryptic yet oddly comforting. "Maybe there's a chance for redemption, if you're willing to take it."

Despite the tension that lingered between them, Ai Di couldn't ignore the warmth that filled his chest at Chen Yi's unexpected words. He dared to hope that maybe, just maybe, there was a chance for them to move past this.

"Thank you, Chen Yi," Ai Di said softly, a small smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "I promise, I'll do whatever it takes to make things right."

Chen Yi's expression softened, a hint of affection shining in his eyes. "I know you will," he replied, his voice gentle. "But for now, why don't we put this all behind us and enjoy the rest of the evening?"

Ai Di nodded, a sense of relief flooding through him as he realized that Chen Yi was offering him a reprieve, a chance to start anew. "I'd like that," he said, his voice filled with gratitude.

As they sat there, the tension between them slowly dissipated, replaced by a newfound sense of camaraderie and understanding. They talked and laughed, sharing stories and secrets as if they had known each other for a lifetime.

And as the night wore on, Ai Di found himself falling for Chen Yi in a way he hadn't thought possible. Despite his fearsome reputation, there was a gentleness to Chen Yi that drew Ai Di in, a warmth that made him feel safe and cherished.

As they finally parted ways, Chen Yi took Ai Di's hand in his own, his touch sending a jolt of electricity through Ai Di's veins. "I'll see you tomorrow night?" Chen Yi asked, his voice hopeful.

Ai Di's heart skipped a beat as he looked into Chen Yi's eyes, seeing the promise of a future filled with possibility and hope. "I wouldn't miss it for the world," he replied, his voice steady with determination.

“So can I get your number?”
