Work Text:
Winter missions were always difficult. The cold bite of the wind combined with thick layers of snow made it difficult to engage in combat. Not to mention the long train ride that led to Coldfront was, to put it simply, boring...and oddly quiet.
Only a few sounds could be heard. Snoring, endless thudding of a ball, sometimes shuffling of cards, flicking of a lighter, other times whispers of a private conversation.
At first there was a sense of rowdiness within the mercenaries. Now that it's the tail end of the route, many just decide to rest for the inevitable work that had to be done at the destination.
Except for Mikhail. He had already read a book or two during this travel. He may as well finish reading a third one before the train stops. Sometimes he is pulled out of the Russian literature due to movements Medic makes in his embrace. Such a sight of undoubtable affection among two males does raise suspicion. However, not within these circumstances. For which he was glad. Although Mikhail still tries his best to not let his hands wander off too much. A difficult task considering the sheer softness of Medic's hair.
Romance and sexuality is a strange topic for Heavy. He never had the opportunity to pursue a romantic relationship. Not even a sexual one. All there was ever to think about was if he could bring in a bear for his mother and sisters to eat. The mere possibility of him finding a wife and having children seemed impossible. To be honest, he never considered that to be an option, nor an object of desire. If he was homosexual, he did not know. For a long time he didn't care. But now? Now, he could only focus on the soft breathing from his so called friend. Ah yes, the friend who both metaphorically and literally held his heart in his hands. The friend with whom he puts down little babies that are the BLU team. The friend whom he calls his partner...a friend truly.
