Arthur’s feet move on his own, maybe he was too desperate to get rid of the weird feeling he was getting and the best idea he had was to contact a couple of friends to help him. He couldn’t stand still waiting for them to arrive, even if the call ended a few minutes ago.
His flat wasn’t to big being enough for Arthur to feel comfortable, but being alone to often wasn’t the best for him, he starts to overthink things a bit and suddenly there’s no way back that’s why he loved to go out or go to work because it kept his mind busy, but the problem doesn’t end there, the problem now followed him to work. One of his coworkers slash one of his dear friends, Oliver Bearman or just Ollie was the problem, not in a bad way because he was the sweetest person Arthur had ever met in his life and he was pretty happy of being his friend and that was the problem because in the last few months all has changed, they stopped hanging out together, talking and all the thing Arthur really enjoyed, and maybe he was a bit desperate for answers. He needed to know why that affected him so much.
The bell rang, and he rushed to open the door, his moral support team had arrived.
“Come in” Arthur says, and the couple enters the flat, and they immediately sit in the living room.
“If you want us to help you, you need to explain” Oscar said after the room turned silent trying to get him to talk. Logan nodded, agreeing with his boyfriend.
“That’s the point! I don’t know” Arthur was frustrated, because even if he wanted to talk about his “issue” he didn’t know how to put it into words. “It’s just difficult to explain, I feel weird about someone, it's not the same as before…”
Oscar frowned, not quite understanding what was happening with his friend. If he called them at midnight for this, he would leave immediately, but Logan seemed more understanding and gave Arthur a smile.
“First, who is this mysterious person?” The American asked him and Arthur was regretting all of this because he actually has to open up.
“Um, Ollie” He responds shortly, unsure about how his friends would react, but they weren’t any weird faces or anything, they just encouraged him to keep talking. “We have been friends for a long time, you already know, but lately thing turned weird like is not the same”
Logan and Oscar or famously known as Loscar shared a glance to each other and nodded, now he was getting worried.
“Why?” Oscar asks and Arthur wants to laugh at the question, he loved Oscar, but it was a really stupid one.
“That’s exactly what I don’t know!” He says really loudly and Oscar seemed to regret asking that or maybe the way he did, so Logan is the one to jump and take the lead of the conversation.
“He meant asking, how do you feel about him?” He asks, trying to fix Oscar’s question, and it works because Arthur is in silence, probably thinking of an answer. “Any answer is valid”
That statement is what Arthur needed because he was thinking of a million answers, but he was scared of saying the wrong thing, but they were his feelings at the end of the day.
“I feel like I want to be with him every day, support each other, be happy together” He started explaining, he channels all the scenarios he would like to be with Ollie, but he wants to explain further “But, in a not friend was like sharing an apartment, but not being roommates… I think I’m not even getting myself”
“And why do you think about the sudden change of your relationship?” Logan asked another question and Arthur was running out of patience, but responded anyway.
“Don’t know, it’s like we want to be together, but there is something we don’t know or at least I don't know” Arthur explained the best he can “It is difficult to get” Arthur had a sad face, he thought the conversation was useless because he wasn’t going anywhere and that really made him frustrated.
“No, no, we understand” Oscar says with a smile “And now, when he’s with another person and showing a lot of affection and else, how do you feel?”
Logan glares at Oscar with a worried look, his boyfriend wasn’t the best to give advice of any sort, it was a miracle they even started a relationship.
“I feel weird, maybe a little annoyed by the other person, why?” He responded quickly.
“Maybe just Jealous?” Oscar responded and Arthur looked shocked, he was looking directly to the floor without moving at all.
His head was a mess, the moment “jealous” came out from Oscar’s mouth made him realize everything, and he was unsure if he would be able to face it. That’s why Charles always says that he looked and acted if he was in love with him because in fact he was. All the times he felt like a bad friend when Ollie talked about a significant other or made questions of how to make someone fall in love with him, and he tried to give him the best advice even if he was hurt and didn’t want him to succeed. It all made sense now, but was he ready to face it?
“I’m in love with him?” Arthur whispered, but loud enough for the other two to hear him. Saying that was difficult because deep down he knew, all this time he knew, but he tricked himself to not believe or ignore his feelings. He still asked anyway because now nothing made sense.
“We believe so…” Oscar responded, he knew Arthur needed some reassurance of some sort.
Being able to name his feelings, felt like a weight was lifted off of him, but a heavier one appeared, he knows, now what? Living with them could be an answer and didn’t sound so bad because he was already doing that for a long time, but now everything was different, or he made it different?
“I know you could feel a little scared and there's nothing wrong with liking a boy-” Logan said, trying to comfort him, but Arthur cuts him off.
“I don’t mind that, the thing is what I do now?” He responds and now Logan was kinda embarrassed, he had prepared a really good speech for nothing, but well at least his friend didn’t have issues with that because that could be even more difficult.
“Maybe Confessing?” Oscar said it was a possibility to Arthur, but he looked troubled once more. “I know it is difficult, but you seriously prefer to live with them and be miserable?”
“Yes!” Arthur exclaimed, and the couple looked at him disappointed, but not surprised. “I can imagine life without him and losing him would be horrible” He said with a really dramatic tone that it was difficult for the couple to hold their laughter, but they tried to compose themselves
The room turned silent, Arthur was immersed in his thoughts still shocked by his realization he had just seconds ago, he expected everything, everything but that. In the other side Loscar always knew, they could tell how their friends looked at each other and if we are serious for a moment, they weren’t even trying to hide it especially Ollie and as they looked at Arthur really overwhelmed about all of this, they think of trying to make him come to his senses, but they know it was going to be difficult because of his friend being too stubborn, but it was worth the shot.
Logan looked at Oscar for a moment analyzing his features as he looked at Arthur. Oscar's eyes were worried and as he looked at him for a few minutes, memories flooded his mind, memories that he hadn't thought about in a long time and he knew how to change Arthur's mind.
“I was the same as you when I realize I was in love with Oscar” Logan started talking after the long silence in the room and that made Arthur looked at him once more “Maybe worse, and I made the same statement “I won’t confess, I can live with it” and I was so wrong, my days turned horrible especially when I saw Oscar because every time I did my feeling grew stronger and stronger, and I thought I would explode any second” The explanation made Arthur interested in what happened to Logan to change the situation he was in, because even if they were friends for some time now he didn’t know everything about them.
“Then one day Oscar invited me to have dinner, really casual, and we had the best time, but it still hurt a bit because I knew, or I thought he didn’t like me back” A smirk appeared in Oscar’s face and made Arthur even more curious.
“Then what happened?” Arthur asked with a frown in his face, thinking of the possible outcomes of it.
“I kissed him” Oscar declared looking at Logan with a smile “And then he kissed me back, the rest you already know it”
“Arthur, the thing is, if Oscar never dare to do something I would be still miserable, trapped in my thought and feelings and I want you to save that awful part even if you’re scared of losing, because if I’m honest I think you’ll win” For Arthur that was a really nice declaration, the way Logan express his regret and suffering was the key to make him snap from his negative thoughts even if the part of “I think you’ll win” didn’t quite make sense to him.
“Maybe you two are right,” Arthur mused.
“I know,” Oscar joked, and the three of them laughed. The tension in the room went away quickly, “But seriously, Logan and I are here to support you and will stand on your side with any decision you make even if it is really dumb”
“Thanks guys, I feel a bit more relax, although I’m still shocked, but I’ll get over it”
They shifted a little of the topic to give Arthur some space, so they took the opportunity to catch up about their lives, like what was happening about Loscar in F1 and Arthur’s racing life as well about the test he was making or he being a reserve driver, etc. They had a wonderful time, they even watched a movie to relax a bit, and suddenly the clock hit 03:50 am and the couple agreed it was time to go. Arthur was a little worried because it could be a little unsafe to drive at these hours, but he let them with the condition they would text once at their home.
The couple said goodbye to his friend and went to the car, Logan was the one driving. On the radio there was some Olivia Rodrigo song playing, and he was humming along, Oscar looked out of the window while thinking, he was actually worried about Arthur.
“He’s going to be okay” Logan said and Oscar looked at him surprised.
“I still don’t know how you do that every time”
“It's part of the charm” They both laugh.
“I know, but I’m still concerned,” Oscar confessed, he seemed like someone that doesn’t worry about those things, but deep down he really does.
“Like I said he’ll figure it out, but I believe Ollie is going to be faster than him on that” Logan laughed saying that and Oscar was curious about his boyfriend's statement.
“What do you know? Who told you?” He asks quickly, he wasn’t really in state for gossiping, but since Logan brought it up he was all ears.
“Gossip goes hard, Ollie went to Charles’s last week to ask for advice and Max was there, well, Max told Lando, and he told Carlos, George, and Alex and Alex told me when we were catching up” The quick explanation seemed to satisfy Oscar’s curiosity, but then he felt betrayed.
“And I know now?! That’s really unfair, love” He complained, but Logan knew he was obviously joking.
“You have to speak to Lando about it” Logan went along and they both shared some laughs.
The way to their home was short and to be honest, they were exhausted.
“Let’s text Arthur and go to bed, please” Logan said and Oscar nodded. Coping with someone's difficult love life at midnight was a challenge, and they hope not to happen again.
