Chapter 1: Where it started

Chapter Text

As the sun rose at 7:40 AM, a short boy with dyed hair, dressed in a white and blank school uniforn ran to catch the bus while his facial expression turned a foul sour.

Xiao sighed with slight anger, and started to walk to school instead of taking the bus like he usually did. The sun's rays of colours lit up the morning sky with a plethora of different colours, making the morning just a tad bit more endurable than before for Xiao. He saw a young group of kids running and playing in the corner of his eye, but kept his face forwards as he walked to school.

Xiao put his bag's other strap over his left shoulder, something he rarely ever did, and took off in a sprint as to not be completely late to class, as Xiao knew he was going to get scolded harshly and sent to detention because his least favorite professor; Mrs. Rito, was teaching his first class that just had to be English class. A class he was already so tired of and absolutely dispised more than any other lesson he took. Xiao speed-walked up to school, running up the stars to the second floor where his English class just started and he barely slipped into it without detention as Mrs. Rito eyed him with a scolding glare and disapointed look on her face as she started class, telling her students to put their phones away and pay attention as she talked for a bit.

Xiao sighed, his amber-coloured eyes catching the sunlights rays through the window glass. He felt his classmates staring at him, though that wasn't really out of the ordinary considering that he was the so called 'quiet' kid in class and was very introverted despite his high average scores in his classes. It wasn't a curse to Xiao though, as he didn't like talking to people in the first place as they were too chatty and wild for his liking, just serving to annoy him without any purpose. Especially as he was in High school and everyone here, specially the rest of the boys seemed to have dropped in their wits like they were toddlers all again, starting fights almost everyday for petty reasons Xiao couldn't bother with or keep count of.

When class began, everyone went forwards to Mrs. Rito's desk to get their workpaper sheet that was somehow always worse than last time, even if Xiao didn't exactly have any problems with the different assignments and work they got. As per usual, Xiao finished his work first after around thirty solid minutes and was told to start writing on an extra task he was almost done with. As the young man finished that task, another paper sheet was handed to him and Xiao worked in silence before the bell rang for second period and everyone started to gather their stuff up and get to next class.

The next period was science, something Xiao wasn't exatly skilled at but still managed to get through with minor inconveniences. Xiao felt like he was on autopilot for the whole day until music class, where he had his favorite teacher at. Xiao's music professor was called Venti, just barely taller than himself which was quite the feat, honestly. His cheerful, bubbly music professor that always seemed to have a light green bucket hat on and a shiningly bright smile permanently set as his facial expression, that Xiao felt literaly couldn't be wiped off his face. Ever.

It was almost annoying, how cute Venti actually was and how kind he was. Xiao kept denying to himself that he had fallen for him, not wanting to accept that he had a crush on his music teacher. After all, he was just 16 years old and Venti was 23 years old, and his very own teacher. Xiao wished internally that he could just kiss his professor, wipe that smile off Venti's face and date him no matter what, but he was way too afraid to do that.

Xiao sighed, day dreaming at the beginning of class as the young man stared at Venti openly and accidentally caught his gaze after a minute. Xiao snapped out of his daze and his face flushed red as Venti awkwardly smiled before continuing on with his lesson, introducing a new area in music to his students and a new project they would need to work on under the coming three weeks. The bell rang shortly after, and Venti dismissed his students afterwards, wrapping his lesson up for the day.
