Work Text:

Shang Tsung never thought of marriage. There was no one who loved him. There was no one that he loved enough to marry. He could live forever. His partner couldn't.

He had never met someone like you. He had never loved someone as much as you. He wanted to give you everything that he could. He did. He did everything that he could. He gave you everything you asked for, except marriage. He wasn't sure that you even wanted it. It was just something that he had forgotten about.

You mentioned it to him once before. He never forgot how excited you were about it. He didn't forget that it was something you wanted. He wanted it, too. However, he would probably forget. It was better to remember that it was what you wanted. He didn't care about his feelings. He cared about yours.

He was always well prepared and made sure things were in order when he did things. He didn't like to see his plans fail. They never usually did. He always got his way, one way or another.

“My love.” He said one day as he walked up behind you. He didn't want to scare you. He had a tendency to do that. He could make portals anywhere he wanted, and they would take him anywhere he wanted to go. You had grown used to him coming and going from various rooms. You were able to hear the sounds of the portal before you heard the sounds of footsteps. Even when you had the sound recognized, sometimes you didn't hear it, and he scared you. He took to announcing his presence to stop scaring you.

“Yes?” You asked as you didn't bother to turn away from the thing that was distracting you.

“I want to show you something. Do you have a moment?”

It wasn't often that he asked for your attention.

“Yes.” You said as you put your stuff down and away. You stood up and walked toward him. He held out his hand. Normally, it would be his arm. You held his hand, and he led you through the portal.

You looked around at the scenery. It was the place you had mentioned. You had always wanted to visit it sometime. Your eyes were wide as you took a few steps further into the land. You took a few more steps, and your hand was caught. You couldn't go any further. Shang Tsung wasn't following you, and he was still holding your hand. You turned and looked behind you. He was down on one knee. His hand is holding yours, and his other hand is holding a ring.

“My love, I have loved you since the day I met you. I have loved every day that we have spent together. I wish to spend years, centuries, and more with you. Will you marry me?” He asked with a smile on his face.

Your free hand went to your mouth, and you nodded as tears formed in your eyes.

“Yes, I will. I would love to.”
