I'm happy to have you - chaelisa

Summary:

March 27, 2024 is Lisa's birthday, Rosé's best friend, and she just wants to say how much she loves her

Work Text:

rosé was in tears. no, write that back. rosé was really sobbing and crying, like a baby. Her day had ended in the best way possible after long hours of work. Hank was fine, her house was in order and she had had great food with friends. until she sat in bed, two hours before midnight, and decided to review photos and photos of her and Lisa. of Lisa and her with the cats, of them on the born pink tour, of Lisa and Hank - not from the best angle, Rosé supposed. the blonde entered every memory that the photos awakened, reliving in her mind every bit of happiness, sadness, love, euphoria and adventure that the two shared together.

- oh lisa. - she sniffed when she came across a specific photo they took when they were in London. She remembered the slight butterflies in her stomach that she felt when recreating with Lisa a scene they had seen in a movie, she was embarrassed for doing that in public, but motivated too.

Lisa would not, never had, let her be ashamed, not even for a moment, of being whoever Rosé wanted to be. they had that conversation several times, the kind that only long-time friends have, friends who have seen each other at their worst and best times, the conversation about exhaustion with the pressure of the world and the discouragement of not being able to be the completeness of what one openly is. not without the media eating you alive.

in front of that, how much she loved that fantastic woman, that friend she never thought she would have but that, come on, Rosé knew she couldn't live without. with the fights and everything. she has so happy to have her. so she just opened the video call on her cell phone and called lisa.

- Hi, Rosie. It's not the best time, but I can... - the brunette opened her sweet, bright eyes to Chaeyoung's red, tearful ones. - chaeng, what the fuck? what there was?

Rosé laughed through her nose, watching her friend. She was fine and probably in a moving car, given the time in Korea and Lisa's made-up face, the blonde assumed she was returning from a dinner or outdoor activity. she smiled kindly and fixed her face as best she could.

- nothing, or rather, nothing more. I wanted to see you, are you ok?

Lisa smiled the best of smiles.

- yes, bro. Coming back from a game, - he pouted, at which Rosé wanted to laugh. - Korea beat Thailand, ridiculous. right on the eve of my birthday? really?

- poor Lisa. - Rosé laughed a little this time.

- oh, but sure. - She shook her head and analyzed her friend. - but tell me why you've been crying. - the blonde smiled toothlessly and nosed to prevent another sniffle. - Won't you tell me, Roseanne, that you miss me?

- oh man

- My God, it is, isn't it?

Lisa heard an inaudible mutter from the blonde.

- what? what? Louder Rosie, I can't hear you. -the Thai woman got closer to the camera, as if she could teleport to her friend's room and force her to talk about those tears.

Rosé sighed and also got closer to the camera. the two could see each other perfectly now.

- I miss you, okay? more today than on other days,-she looked away from her friend's and said. - I've been looking at all these... photos we've had over the last few years, and remembering how we hurt and healed, and the best days of our lives, with the girls together, you just mean everything to me, you know? because I never expected to have the best person in the world by my side, but I do, and I am infinitely grateful. -she looked back at the camera and found the most beautiful brown eyes, they were shining with unshed tears. - Thank you for being with me always, dear, I love you so much.

seconds passed, lisa looked at, what rosé assumed was the roof of the car, and tried to control whatever emotions she was having, the tears however came anyway.

- Lord Christ, Rosie. yes, chaeng, I love you too, baby.

They laughed and laughed some more, Rosé may have cried some more too. because, hey! It was rosé.

They hung up the call after Lisa said she was arriving at her parents' house and Rosé had to go out to sleep.

but not before the blonde posted, with all her heart, an official happy birthday to the one she loved most, well, at least until the two fight over a pot of ramen again.
