Jeff's April Fools' Prank

Summary:

One April Fools' Day, Jeff tells Liu that he has something to say.

Notes:

This fanfic is a one-shot I thought out on April Fools' Day 2022, and I wanted to share it for April Fools' Day of this year.
Originally, I wanted to draw it as a comic, but I didn't dare to, so I wrote it as a fanfic instead.

* Jeff is Jeff the Killer, Liu is Homicidal Liu, and this fic is set after their reunion.

* Normally, I think of Homicidal Liu as having a split personality (as per his original canon), but in this fic, he doesn't.

* This time, while translating this fic, I couldn't pay much attention to the translation and review because I was in a hurry to upload it before April 1st.
So, it may contain many awkward expressions.
(Also, I reached out to ChatGPT for help with the translation this time lol.)

* This is the first time uploading fanfic that I've written myself. Please be gentle!

* Disclaimer: I do not own Jeff and Liu.
The credit goes to their rightful owners.

Hope you enjoy!

Work Text:

"Liu, I have something to tell you."
Jeff said to Liu all of a sudden.

"So? What is it?"

"I... I'm actually gay."

At first, Liu was a bit surprised, but soon remembered that today was April 1st, April Fools' Day.

He knew it from looking at the calendar. This morning, Liu saw the calendar and noticed someone had flipped it from March to April.
Jeff must have done it, knowing it was April 1st.

"Is that an April Fools' joke?"
"No, it's real."
"Hmm... Okay."

Liu said, and then he started to think about what kind of prank he would do.
He didn't care about what Jeff said anymore. It didn't matter to Liu whether it was a joke or not. Regardless of whether Jeff was gay or not, he was Liu's beloved brother after all.

But after a brief moment of thought, Liu realized that Jeff was still staring at him.

"What's wrong? Do you have something else to say?"
"Yeah."
"What is it?"

Jeff hesitated before answering.

"Actually... I have feelings that are more than just a brotherly love."

"Huh? What do you mean?" Liu asked.

"I... I have romantic feelings for you."
"What?"

This time, Liu was quite flustered, but soon reminded again that it was April Fools' Day.

"That's probably an April Fools' prank, right?"
"No, It's not a prank."

Jeff replied, and he started to get closer to Liu slowly.

"I'm serious, and it's kinda sad that you think it's just a prank..."

Standing in front of Liu, Jeff put his hand on Liu's cheek.
"Liu... how do you think about me?"

Now, they were so close, close enough to feel each other's breath. They were facing each other, locking eyes ― as though they were going to kiss.

Liu was truly confused now, and he had no idea what to do.

He rolled his eyes and said, "We-well... I... I guess I need some time to think about it..."

He then looked back at Jeff.
"...Are you really serious?"

"No, It's just a joke." Jeff replied as he lowered his hand.

"..."
Annoyed, Liu glared at Jeff silently.
