Work Text:
Vito didn't know how it had happened.
Was it fate? No... Fate isn't real, but then how could this have happened? Maybe fate is real in some circumstances. Maybe fate brought them together - that seems about right, anyway.
Vito sat Theu down into bed beside him, giving him a peck on the forehead; "I presume you want to hear about my day, right?" Vito asks Theu, and sits up slightly, propping himself up on his elbows as he looks up thoughtfully - "eh, nothin' big really happened, if that's what you were wonderin'. I'm just happy I'm able to spend time with you." He sighed, still looking up at the ceiling, "Theu..."
Silence.
"Theu, I've got somethin' big to tell you." Vito paused, turning his head to meet Theu's inanimate gaze - his beautiful eyelashes, magnificent hair, eyeshadow, his smile... It filled Vito with so much warmth, just being in the general vicinity of that silly little puppet did the job. "Ever since I met you, I've felt.. Attached, bonded to you. Y'know?" He chuckled softly to himself; "no no, that's silly. Wishy-washy. Hhh, still. It's how I really feel though. I bet you feel bonded to me too, loved in a way nobody has loved you before- What am I saying? I love you, Theu."
And there it was, an admission, finally.
"I've loved you since I really laid eyes on you. I mean, you're a gorgeous work of art.. How could I not? It'd be a crime if I didn't. But this.. This is a different type of love. I just feel.. Happy with you. I wanna cuddle with you, kiss you goodnight, take you out shopping- ugh." Vito laid down, pulling the blanket above his shoulders, "I love you so much, Theu, more than ever."
And with that, Vito gently picked the puppet up and cradled him in his arms, squeezing him softly. Not enough to hurt him - or, Vito's definition of 'hurting a puppet'. - Vito's eyes slowly drifted shut, and the faint sound of snoring would be heard.
