Chapter Text
It was a bright and sunny day in Hell, birds chirping, people screaming, and faint jazz music coming through the radio. Thanks a lot Alastor, you mumbled sarcastically. Overall you had been having a good day. Charlie had organized a picnic with the members of the hotel, and it was going about as well as something can in Hell. At least the blanket was soft and the food was decent.
You hadn’t been able to take your eyes off Alastor for the entire picnic for some reason. He wasn’t wearing anything different, but his mix of creepy and old fashioned behaviors had you entranced. He had been able to summon an entire crew of chefs to make the food for this, and it was surprisingly normal. That’s not to say that he hadn’t made a few weird comments when making it, absolutely terrifying some of the workers he had summoned. You could only hope he would be nicer to you, even if you were both new to Hell and vulnerable.
You had gotten to Hell rather recently, after dying at 19 in a car crash with a drunk driver. Not a very dramatic ending compared to some of the other stories down here. Other than your quite untimely death, you had been doing quite well. You had come to the hotel a week ago to get a shot at going to heaven.
“So, I don’t really understand how a picnic gets anyone closer to redemption.” You tell Alastor, seeing if you could get him to at least look at you.
“Oh I don’t see the point either, but I will go along with Charlie’s ideas because they’re so…” He takes a moment to think about his next word, ”entertaining” his smile slightly widens, but you’re not sure what emotion that’s linked to.
“Nobody really understands what get’s someone into Heaven?” You ask. You always thought you would get a bit more time to make up for your sins, but life hadn’t turned out that way for you. Well, it was time to move to a less depressing topic.
“You won’t get an answer to that from me, unless you’re willing to make a deal.” Alastor said, of course he was already trying to make a deal with you. He was at least charming outside of the times he was trying to make a deal with you.
“No thanks, I would like to keep my soul.” You respond, but you’re not as serious as you would’ve been a few days ago.
You felt a bit weird liking the man that for all intents and purposes, was 100 years older than you. You supposed that if anything, his lack of attraction to almost anyone was more concerning than the age gap, but in Hell everything was problematic somehow.
Alastor quickly melted into the shadows, appearing again next to Charlie. He acted so casually around her, you couldn’t help but wish he was with you instead. You weren’t paying much attention at that point but you heard him talking to Charlie about the hotel. You didn’t envy that he treated Charlie like a daughter. But you wished he would give you some attention, you were always an attention seeking teen, even in the afterlife.
You felt a bit weird around people so much older than you, not just Alastor. You always thought that dying early would mean dying in your early 30s, like Alastor. Damn he really was haunting your thoughts, instead of dying before you even went to college.
Your last memory of being alive was ingrained into your head now. It was from two weeks ago, drinking over spring break. You had a few shots before going upstairs with your boyfriend. You chuckled under your breath at that one, your last day being spent fucking and drinking. You don’t even remember if there were any drugs involved, your only other memory was of the headlight of a car… and then nothing.
“You know, I think Angel Dust would be proud of my last day on Earth.” You laugh a bit towards the end, seeing how Charlie, Alastor, Vaggie, and Husk’s faces fell as soon as the words left your mouth.
“Wait, what!” Charlie said, sounding more surprised than angry. You knew that she had probably expected you to sin quite a bit, but the full extent wasn’t something you had talked about so far.
“I told you guys that I died two weeks ago, right?” You wonder if you may have forgotten that fact, but that was a problem for later.
“You did… But what about Angel being proud of it?” Charlie asks, still practically bouncing up and down on the picnic blanket.
“Oh I just did a lot of drugs ‘n shit on my last day.” You laugh a bit before continuing “I didn’t live very long, but man, did I have a lot of sins”
“I have all day to hear the details babydoll.” Angel Dust says. You had learned that his tone of voice was a bit annoying to you, but at least he wasn’t flirting.
“I’m still not telling you exactly what I did before I died, that’s between me and a future boyfriend to know.” You say. You probably aren’t going to have a boyfriend for a while and you know that, everyone down here is a creep.
“So does Alastor follow mating cycles like a deer would, or is he completely disinterested all the time?” You ask, if Angel is going to make this uncomfortable, then you are too.
“I would recommend not dwelling on that my dear, if you value your safety.” Alastor replied, of course he was already threatening you with the creepy voice and weird symbols flying around. You internally laughed a bit and called it kinky, making light of his threat.
“Oh, well if you ever feel like being social I would love to see more of what you do.” You say. Your voice still seeming happy.
“I’d prefer if you would stay away from my radio tower, many who enter don’t leave.” He says. His tone is a bit cheerful despite another vague threat.
“Y’know… going back to a previous topic, I wonder how many ways you got that boyfriend of yours to do ya before you kicked the bucket.” Angel says.
“Angel, I appreciate the curiosity, but just how creative do you expect a 20 year old and a 19 year old to be.” You say, struggling to not burst out laughing halfway through.
“I thought teenagers these days would be more kinky, hell sure is.” Angel replies, leaning against a tree and crossing his legs.
You couldn't help but laugh a bit at that one. Normally mentions of your human life would be less joyful, with it only ending two weeks ago, but right now it felt a bit less heavy. You couldn’t help but appreciate Angel’s jokes, even if they weren’t always welcome.
