Work Text:

“YOU ALWAYS DO THIS! I CAN'T EVEN FUCKING EXIST WITHOUT YOUR CRITICISM.” Eleos screamed, his wings flared up and his fists clenched.

Chronos stood in front of Eleos in the hallway. Eleos tried to walk down it to get away from the fight but Chronos followed, always needing to get in the last word.

“Maybe if you wouldn't fail at every simple task you wouldn't need my criticism. I am only trying to help you, Heart.”

“Don't even give me that bullshit.” Eleos threw his hands up, holding them together and doing a grating impression of Chronos. “I'm just trying to help, you're just sensitive, Heart. You can't even call me my goddamn name Mind.”

Chronos rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. Her voice remained monotone and as still as her face. She seemed completely unbothered by Eleos’ comments, although she was fighting the urge to scream back in their face.

“You don't deserve for me to call you by name.”

“A name isn't something you earned its basic respec-”

“Again,” Chronos interrupted, “You do not deserve any respect. What have you done to earn this? All you do is cry around about how depressed you are. Maybe, if you would get up out of your bed and go outside you would feel better. You would also lose that awful complexion of yours.”

Eleos tilted his head in genuine confusion, “Complexion? What's wrong with my complexion?”

Chronos sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

“You would make a vampire jealous.”

Eleos went silent for a moment. Their wings continued to twitch and his tail swished before he buried his head in his hands. Chronos stared as Eleos’ shoulders shook.

“Are you cr-”

Eleos lifted their head and laughed before Chronos could finish their sentence. His face was red and a tear ran down from how hard he was laughing already. Chronos looked around, wondering if Eleos was going mad. Eleos continued to laugh until Chronos started to chuckle at the absurdity of it all.

“This is stupid, why are we laughing?” Chronos snorted and covered his mouth, only laughing harder.

Eleos smacked Chronos at that sound in a way that was meant to be playful but was surprisingly hard. Chronos held his arm and laughed harder.

“How did you make that noise??”

“I don't know!”

They both continued to laugh until their stomachs were sore and the tension in the air was gone. They both took a moment to catch their breath before Chronos looked up at Eleos again.

“You're an idiot, you know that?” She chuckled some more to make sure Eleos knew she was joking.

“Shut up, you are too.”
