A new Off the Hook single was in the works.
Marina was in her self-isolation state. Where she’d focus only on the printed notes that were displayed on her screen. She didn’t want to lose her sense of thought. No distractions, no interacting with others— not even her best friend, Pearl, who was kicking it with the vocals .
Callie, on the other hand, was out for the day. Running errands, taking the day for herself. However, she loathed the loneliness; not being with her cousin, nor even her girlfriend. And so, she thought the best way to ease that bitter solitude was to invite herself over to Off the Hooks studio.

A nice, warm visit to my girlfriend's studio wouldn’t be too bad! Callie thought as she hopped in her car and drove back to her and Marie’s shared apartment. Once there, Callie tidied up her hair and fitting, wearing her casual pink Agent 1 attire. She reflected back in the bedroom mirror, giving herself a cheeky smile.
Marie was in the living room, working on her laptop. Callie forgot she was there and got startled by a sudden, “You going to see your girlfriend? What’s that, the 80th time this week?” Marie teased, chuckling softly.
“Eep! Marie, you’re always such a surprise! But to answer your question, yes! I am off to go see my totes awesome and adorbs girlfriend!” A faded blush spread across the hot pink inklings face, smiling like always.
“Oh, by the way—forgot to ask ; Off the Hook’s working on a new single, right? I remember Pearl texting me about that earlier this morning, though I don’t quite remember cause I was like, half-asleep.”
Callie’s face lit up, as if it wasn’t like that already. “Yes, yes, yes!! They are! I’m sooo excited for it. Marina told me she’d show me a snippet of it as a lil’ sneak peek cause I’m her awesome girlfriend! They haven’t thought up a name for it yet though… any guesses of what you think it’ll be? I heard the songs gonna be somewhat chilling and rowdy, something similar to Color Pulse!”
Marie laughed, “Yeah, rowdy like you? Seems Marina’s really portraying the song off of her ‘awesome girlfriend’ .” Callie groaned, turning away, though she was amused—and a little embarrassed. “But anyway, I think the titles gonna be like ‘ Yuri Pulse ‘24 ’ or something like that.”
“Yuri Pulse ‘24?!” Callie shouted, unable to hold in her laugh. “That’s ridonkulous, they’d never!” She finished packing her things, heading out the door. “Alright, well I'm leaving now, you grandma! Love ya, be back soon!!” The door shut and it was back to just Marie, her thoughts, and her laptop. Still not over that whole grandma thing, hm…

Now at Off the Hook’s studio, Callie opened the door and shut it silently, as to not give away her sudden welcoming. She spotted Marina quickly in the DJ booth, sat down wearing her hair up with her half-rim glasses and casual clothing. Callie couldn’t help but admire how absolutely adorable her girlfriend looked. She ran over, shouting “MAR-MAR’S!!”
Marina jumped in surprise, her glasses tilting as she tried to adjust them before an ecstatic inkling came hugging her tightly from behind, kissing her cheek a million times. “ Mwah, mwah, mwah! I missed youuuu~!! You adorable octopus!”
The octoling couldn’t help but smile and giggle, her face filling up with heatness. Marina felt like her heart’s were about to burst out of her chest. “Callieee~!! I’m trying to focus!!” She squirmed, covering her face with her hands out of embarrassment.
“Oh, sorry! You are just the cutest thing!! I couldn’t help myself!” Callie gave her another kiss on the cheek, before Marina turned her chair to face the inkling, removing her hands off of her flustered face. Callie quickly hugged Marina fully, kissing the back of her head, then pulling away to kiss the octolings soft lips. “ Sooo … you workin’ on that new song?”
“Trying! Until you distracted me…” Marina pouted, looking away.
Callie smiled at her adorableness. How could one just be so cuteeeee~!! She thought. “Heh, sorry about that. Oh yeah! Didn’t you say you were gonna show me a lil’ sneak peek? Give it to me! I wanna hear it!”
Marina handed over her headphones to Callie, “Alright… but just know it's still a work in progress, okay?”
“Yeah, yeah, work-o-progresso, whatever! I just wanna listen!!” Callie put on the headphones as Marina pressed play. Her head bopped to the beat, humming to the familiar tune. “Oh, so this IS Color Pulse ‘24!! Ahhh! It sounds amazing so far!! I absolutely cannot wait—hold on… does this mean you and Pearl are gonna be back rocking it out on stage for Splatfests soon?!” She cheered.
Marina stopped the recording and rested her headphones on her desk. “Well, I don’t wanna give too much away, but—since you are my girlfriend, yes! We’re so back!! And we’re hoping it’ll be done before the next fest, as long as the rest of the production team doesn’t screw up anything…”
“Oh yeah, totes… but anyway, you on break yet?? I wanted to hang out with you!”
“Am now! What were you planning on us doing?” Marina smiled, getting up from her chair and stretching.
“Well… you wanna go out maybe? Or go back to your house and watch a movie? I’m up for anything, girl!”
“I am a bit hungry, so going out would be nice. I’ll need to get ready though! I look like a slob… it’s embarrassing!”
Callie looked her up and down, “Oh, hush up—you look adorbs!!”
The heart’s of the octoling fluttered, she gave Callie a cheeky grin right before darting off to the changing room.

Callie and Marina soon spent the rest of the day with one another; spending their money's worth, dining out, doing whatever they pleased—whatever elated them.

So… my girlfriend surprised me earlier—and we hung out after I was done working!! ❤️ We bought so much stuff! Our bank accounts were practically almost drained by the end of the day! 😣 It was so worth it.
I couldn’t ask for a better gf than my precious Callie! 🥺
