Work Text:
It’s been a long time since I've had a partner.
Mission partner that is.
Normally, Talon ordered me to work with some specific someone then assassinate them to cover the organization’s tracks.
Everything changed when you came into the fray.
“Lacroix, you’ve got a new partner to complete your next mission with. Try not to get them too damaged,” Moira’s drawling voice interrupted Widow’s training routine.
That was when we met. You came in with your ashen blonde hair and bright crooked smile that lightened the entire training room and you dared to befriend me.
You spoke with your south-eastern twang that I never thought I would fluster over.
“Hey mate! Nice to meet you and glad to have you as a partner,” you held out your hand to greet me.
I stared in disgust at the gall you had to approach me and not be intimidated.
“Do not give me your hand unless you wish to lose it.”
“Now now Lacroix, that's no way to treat your mission partner, is it?” Moira stood behind you with her arms crossed. “Akande is having me run a new project that they’re,” she gestured to you lazily “the main component of. I would prefer not having to go through another cerebrum recondition with you again.”
My eye twitched slightly at the mention of a recondition. “Fine,” I hissed. “What is our mission then?”
Moira tossed a paper file my way. “All the information you need is there, including what your little partner will have to do to pass.” Moira glanced at you slightly with that malicious smirk of hers before striding out with an un-serious ‘farewell’.
I look back at you and the idiotic confidence you displayed on your face.
“Oh my name is-”
“I don’t care.”
